Other than knowing that Jake Gyllenhaal and Jamie Foxx were in this and that it took place during Desert Storm, I had no idea what the movie would be about. To say that I was underwhelmed with this movie is an understatement. Really not the movie I was hoping it would be. In a nutshell, we follow a platoon with nothing else to do but act stupid because of sheer boredom setting in. For Jake's character is all about getting that kill shot that will "validate" his war. Even though it's not said outright in the film, he is looking for HIS war story that he can tell others about as well as being able to relate to his father's own stories about Vietnam. It's about joining that exclusive club. In the end, not much happens, and he never does get that kiil that he has been after for the entire movie. Definitely a Skip. Boring flick.

I wonder, if you knew what the movie was before going in, how it would have affected your perception of the flick (I haven't seen it, but I know it's a war movie where nothing happens).
