One of only 4 games I'm getting/got for both PC and and 360. The others being Knights of the Old Republic, Battlefield BC 2, and Mass Effect 2 (only because it came free with a Pre order for BF 3 on Origin).

I decided to get this for the PC too because after I saw the AMAZING difference between the Frostbite engine on the 360 and then seeing it maxed out on the PC my head almost exploded. I can only imagine what the Frostbite 2 engine is going to look like.

I'm really not comfortable playing games on my PC, only because of being used to playing on PS2 and Xbox 360 for the most part. But I am curious to see what the difference will be between the PC and Xbox for this game though.

Well other than graphical and sonic the main difference will be in multiplayer. The console versions will be 32 player max and the PC side will be huge 64 player battles. All the older PC BF games where 64 players. It sound like alot but with big maps it can be extremely fun. The 32 player BFBC 2 matches are great.

You can definitely call me a noob with this question here: But do you play PC games with joystick or keyboard. The only games I have played on PC are keyboard only, hence why I am so horrible at it.

I play what very few PC games I've played recently with mouse and keyboard. The only time I played with anything else was back in the old NHL 99, 2000, 2001 days and Descent 1 and 2. Used a game pad for the NHL games and stick for the descent games. I could make that little space ship dance with the joystick I had.

Battlefield 3 Beta (http://www.battlefield.com/battlefield3/1/beta?sourceid=eag3098&om_u=2331622946&om_i=_BOhN1.B8du0L3i)

That's right folks, if you have a PC, Xbox or PSN, you can download the Beta demo right now and play (test it). I don't know about the PC or PSN, but you will need a Gold Membership on Xbox to download. So, got get it!

I played the beta on both the 360 and PC and the map is pretty damn big as compared to some of the BF BC2 rush maps. The PC version even in the MP beta version looks very nice. Both versions though share the same physics and are really great. I can't wait to see the full versions of both. I got in early due to my Medal of Honor purchase and my Origin preorder of BF3 on the PC side.

Battlefield 3 Beta Hacked (http://www.pcworld.com/article/240977/battlefield_3_beta_hacked_dice_threatens_banhammer.html)

Hacked version to support up to 128 players, but will come with a steep price if caught using this version on other servers: A Lifetime ban.

Thats the reason I haven't played the PC beta yet, probably wont at all now. I have BF3 preordered on Origin and the second the servers go up for the digital DL it starts downloading. I don't wanna screw with the chances of not getting it.

Ok I might just be jumping into the PC beta. Dice is doing a load test and opening up the Caspian Border map for the PC version this weekend.

I definitely want updates on this. I wish I could get my Beta to install, but I can't. So I guess I will just have to live vicariously through you.

You should try deleting the files and downloading it again. This weekend is a stress test for the Dice servers. Its going to be 64 player only I think. The 360 version only supports 32 but 2 teams of 16 can get pretty damn hairy.

You should try deleting the files and downloading it again.

Not sure that will even fix the problem, because another friend of mine went through the same problem I'm having. He deleted his files and re-downloaded the game again to no avail.

Caspian Border = FRAKING AMAZING! Tanks, jeeps, helos, JETS, all kinds of vehicles. While the first map is sort of linear this one has different topography, hills streams and such. I SHOT A JET DOWN WITH A TANK! Also just a small thing I noticed that lets you know your not playing some COD game. I did die in a tank at one point and the damn thing caught fire. At another point I was on a bridge that crosses a small stream so it was about 5 feet above the stream. The tank took alot of damage so I bailed out and was just going to jump the railing of the bridge and take cover underneath. When I went to jump I expected just a normal jump and short fall. But what happened actually made the biggest impression, I hit the jump button and the character put his left had on the railing and vaulted over it and then when he hit the shallow water below there was the splash and like if any real person did that the impact caused him to bend at the knees to cushion the fall. Its a small thing but just shows the amount of detail that Dice is putting into this.

Sounds pretty cool. Question, do you know if the game play between the PC and Xbox will be the same? Or is the only difference for BF3 just graphics of the PC being superior to console versions?
Title: Re: Battlefield 3

BF 3 on the PC has 64 players where as the consoles only have 32. I'd really like to see caspian borders opened up for the consoles so I could make a real comparison. I will say this about that map on the PC it was all kinds of gorgeous. There was also something else I noticed, they opened up Conquest mode for the Caspian map and it was actually called Conquest Large. Looks like theres going to be maybe 2 versions of the same maps? A large and not large? I have been reading that some of the MP maps are quite huge they would need to be with 64 players on the PC they would need to be large. Larger even than the Heavy Metal map in BFBC2 which was nearly impossible to be effective on if you chose to stay on foot. Usually MP map details are scaled back but the detail I was seeing was pretty nice. I really can't wait to see the finished product. I know the tank sounds WELL from BFBC 2 and the limited time I was in the tanks these are all new recordings. The infantry voices are all new too which is good because its sort of a different franchise from Bad Company.

Ummm I played about an hour once the release day verification kicked in...... WOW! Intense! The first little bit is mostly the trailers and in game footage we've been seeing. I have the graphics and audio maxed out and all I can say is WOW! The Frostbite 2 engine is all its been hyped to be, from top to bottom its just dame amazing.  Even after playing Crysis and BFBC 2 on the PC I still have alot to remember about using a mouse and keyboard.

I now can't wait to get out of work tomorrow.... ummm later today and see what the 360 version has to offer.

I'm just gonna wait till I'm done with Batman Arkham City. There is no point in me rushing out to pick up BF3 since I didn't do a pre-order. I don't know how you do it Umaine, bouncing back and forth between games like Batman, Gears 3, Rocksmith and BF3. And I didn't even mention the other games you bought that I know you have picked up in the last month or so. You're a crazy muthaphucka! Is there a difference between the Limited Edition and the Standard Edition of BF3? I can't see anything from one to the other in the Product Description, other than that the LE version has a $10 Coupon for future game orders on Amazon.

Limited has the Back to kackalackyland map pack.... or at least free access to it when it's ready. They are maps from BF 2 re imagined in the Frostbite 2 engine theres also access to a couple new vehicles and a weapon or 2. When it comes to EA and Dice its better to get the "limited". The limited of BFBC 2 came with the code for VIP access to map packs, there where 4 or 5 of those so maybe this vip access will be more than just the initial maps they've advertised.

I still have every intention of picking up BF3 within the next couple of weeks or whenever I finish Batman Arkham City. But I am hearing a lot of negative reviews regarding the campaign mode for the game. Any truth to this? I know that BF3 is all about MP, but it's a little disheartening to hear that the game fails in the campaign.

Battlefield 1 and 2 didn't even have a single player campaign. The single player is pretty weak and not very long but it's no more weak or forgettable than every single COD game thats come after MW1, also I couldn't even tell you what happened in Medal of Honor, I do remember it was pretty terrible. However, yes, the MP is **** awesome. It seems to move a bit faster than BFBC 2 but that might just be because I haven't learned the maps yet so I'm on the move alot more than usual. Its not MP that you'll just jump into and not get your ass handed to you. If you've played the BFBC 2 MP then alot will be familiar if not then there is a learning curve but once you get it its a blast.

Uhhg! I had to stop that TRS review at 7:30 when the guy in the middle started mangling the MP description. Like I assumed from there review of MW3 these guys didn't even play the MP. Also they are a little liberal when showering the single player with the superlatives. While it is pretty good its not very memorable. Fun yes, a sonic and visual treat? Absolutely, even on the 360. But the story really is forgettable, the experiences it puts you through are pretty memorable. Unfortunately these guys missed out on what BF really is all about and thats the Multiplayer. Different classes promotes teamwork. Also many different rewards that are class specific promotes the experimentation that these guys loved so much about the MW3 mp. They really should do there home work because the BF series pioneered just about everything the MW players covets so much. MW will get the sales only due to what I call the Madden effect. They buy the name without hesitation without notice that they are getting the same game with very little change.

Is that History Of Battlefield video a legit documentary or just a fan made video? Whatever the case may be, it was interesting to see it's progress over the years.

Well it was done by a gaming website. I loved watching it, hell watching any videos of older pc games is fun to watch for the cringe worthy graphics and the "wow! look how far games have come!" factor. I was watching so videos last week of Descent. I LOVED that game!

For 360 users that bought the Limited Edition, the Back to Karkand expansion was released today and is up on XBL. Just fire up your game and you'll be notified. If you didn't get the LE, and I'm not sure why you wouldn't have, its up for purchase on XBL marketplace. It is 2 GB in size. by comparison the PC download was a little over 5 GB.
