The season premiere literally picks up where Season 1 (http://pennycan.createaforum.com/dvd's-blu-rays/under-the-dome-(season-1-2013)-2686/msg29869/#msg29869) left off at, with the fate of Barbie in the hands of Junior and Big Jim as the Pink Stars light up the sky. I thought that scene was pretty cool, but that was Season 1. What was going to happen here? Of course Barbie would be spared as he is the moral compass of the show. Sure, he's got a secret past, but he's the one you are rooting for. So, does anyone die in this one? Yup. So goodbye to Linda. I like Natalie Martinez as an actress, especially in CSI: NY. But in this one, I hated her character. She was frustrating to watch because of the countless stupid things she would fall prey to. So, I wasn't upset that they killed her off.

However, I was surprised that they killed off Angie at the end....or so it would seem. I think she is a goner. Axe. Swing. Yelling. Blood. Yeah. She's gone. Nice addition of Eddie Cahill (also of CSI: NY fame) and Sherry Stringfield. Nice twist showing that Junior's mother is not only alive and well, but is living outside of the dome and is able to communicate through "telepathy"? It's odd.....but still entertaining. Nice cameo from Stephen King.

This episode felt kind of rickety, like it had lost its legs or something. So, we are to believe that in a day or two (counting backwards to the Season Finale of last season), that both Joe and Norrie would willing sleep at Big Jim's house as his permanent guests, including Norrie's mother he was physically manhandled off her own property by BJ's goons. The same man that was willing to torture them to get the location of the egg? The same man they knew to be a killer of men.....and women. Now he is making breakfast for them? Okay, I can buy all the supernatural stuff, but THIS character change in everyone, I can not. Not feeling the new Science Teacher chick. Don't think she's a good actress at all.

Ugh. This season is going to be torture as long as the Science Teacher remains. She is a HORRIBLE actress. I thought Junior was bad, but she makes him look like Sir Anthony Hopkins. I can't stand how she over emotes here scenes. I expect this from High Schooler's and younger, but not from someone that is getting paid to act on a network series. With that said, there was a good reveal at the end between Sam and Lyle (Dwight Yoakam). Looks like there is something deeper about the Chumley's and the Rennie's family tree and their connection to each other. Speaking of Yoakam, I've seen him a lot of movie's over the years and not once did he ever sing anything. Well, that changed with this one and it was perfect and organic in how it comes about. Throw a man in jail and let him wail as he's feeling the blues.

I wonder if the series is taking everything from the source material, because it seems like they are making sh*t up this season as they go along. It's really getting convoluted with the back story involving the 4 kids from 20 years earlier having found the meteor and egg and how it plays in with the current story. Still can't stand Junior and I especially hate the Science Teacher. If said it before and I'll say it again, they are horrible actors. So far, this season is very flat. Last season, as absurd as it was, it was entertaining. Not so much 4 episodes in.

I'm losing interest in this show. This season is nothing like the first. It seems to be less about the Dome and more about a town falling part and turning on each other. Season 1 was very much rooted in the supernatural. Season 2 is more like a bad episode of one of those 'End of Days' reality shows. Only interesting thing that happened is this very boring episode was the revelation that there was some never ending tunnel on the other side of the High School locker.

See... that's what you get when there is not a long range plan on these series. The stories deviate because of no well thought out direction. Let's throw stuff against the wall and see what sticks.

Under the Dome is a well thought out story with beginning, middle and end. The playbook is right there. But studio's think they can do better. They go after the money, blinding them to what makes the story good.

Lost was proposed as a one season project. I just read The Leftovers, much of the story is created on the fly. I would bet they have thought very little of the next season. This kind of information just makes me cringe.

Oh hum. More of the same. Sure, the kids found the egg and they touched it and pink starts filled the room. Big whoop. It took maybe a minute of screen time total. The rest was devoted to a town battling another 'Mother of all weather' disaster upon them and yet again.....thwart it. Dude, give me some real danger on the show instead of this 'save at the 11th hour' routine they have going. With that said, I did like that the tunnel behind the locker became and even BIGGER tunnel that ends at a bottomless pit. And no, I highly doubt that Sam is dead....even if he did throw himself into said pit.

Going Home

Sh*t just got interesting! It's about time they did something different and break away from the 'town in chaos' episodes, which has been tiresome for quite some time now. So, I nailed it in my assumption in my previous post that Sam wasn't dead. Not only was he not, he was alive and well.....outside the dome! Yep, the tunnel is some kind of portal that allows anyone that goes into the abyss to come out the other side in the town adjacent to the dome. So, Barbie is now outside as well, looking for help from his dad in getting "back to the dome". Really not sure where this is going, but at least it's got my attention again. I just hope the writers don't squander this opportunity here.

They kinda took a step back with this episode. Back to familiar territory as the focus is back on the towns people of Chester's Mill. It also doesn't bode well with the introduction of the Hacker who is a horrible acting. I don't know who he is, but he sucks. So, this series has the 3 worst actors on prime time tv under one roof....or the dome if you will.  ;D Seriously, who the f*ck is the casting director for the series? He or she should be fired. Anyway, with that said, everything that is happening with Barbie is still worth watching because I don't know where it's going. But I did suspect that Barbie's dad has something to do with the Dome coming down.

The Red Door
(http://i.imgur.com/SfhcoSn.gif)

Well, the series is starting to slide again. Very average episode at best. Found myself not even watching....or caring what happened next. So, this is what we learned....you jump off the cliff to exit the Dome and you enter a little Red Door to get back in. Why does this sound like a cross between Land of the Lost and Alice in Wonderland? Hmmm.........maybe that would make a better show. If it wasn't a known fact that this is a Stephen King novel, this would sound like they are making this sh*t up as they go along. And I haven't even mentioned the "Smoke Monster" either..................

It's beyond frustrating. There aren't that many episodes left this season, so I will see it through to the end. But in my eyes, this season has been a huge bust compared to the first season, which wasn't the best as well. But at least it was entertaining for the most part. This season, not so much.

Why the hell am I still watching this? This one was so laughably bad that it was...."good". Okay, that's a lie. But it was making me laugh at some of the dialogue that was being said, not to mention the acting by everyone in this episode. I really can't believe that Sherry Stringfield has been reduced to working on a series like this, surrounded by horrible actors. That's not to say that she wasn't bad either. She was. But I blame the writers for giving her such lame lines to say and work with. Only interesting thing that happens is with the egg being tossed off the cliff, it literally closes the gateway outta the Dome.

Finally a solid episode and it had a lot to do with the fact that it wasn't about an entire town running around like chickens with their heads cut off and screaming at each other. I liked that they also gave us something different regarding the Dome. Having it so that the Dome can alter the weather is one thing, but it having the ability to change the climate to the point of freezing over to arctic condition was better. Showing that the Dome wall is actually spinning was even better than that. But the final scene showing the Dome actually shrinking in on it self (moving inward and tearing up more of the town was the best thing about the episode. Adds a new element to the danger. Now lets hope they can close out the season on an upswing.

I am just completely baffled and at a loss for words as just how epic this episode is......and NOT in a good way. This is hands down the worst example of writing, acting and story I have ever witness in any TV series. This is gawd-awful. This is so bad that I urge you to check it out OnDemand and see for yourself what not to do. The only saving grace is that the next episode is the last one for the season and I can once and for all bury this dreadful series. I swear everyone that gave a horrible performance was fighting as hard as possible to keep from laughing at what was coming out of their mouths. I half expected to turn to the camera and say "f*ck this sh*t, I'm outta here...".

By comparison to last weeks dreadful episode, this one was "better". But this is still a sh*tty show that seems to be pulling plot ideas out of its own ass. It wants to be many things, and my guess is that they are trying to be the new Lost and it's failing miserably. But what the producers of the show are failing to realize is that it survives and thrives, not because of story, but because of characters. As crazy and wacky as Lost got over the seasons, we always had compelling characters that we wanted to see week in and week out. On Under the Dome, there isn't one character I give a f*ck about. So it makes all these lame story ideas seem utterly ridiculous. As bad as this season has been, especially the last few episodes, including this one, I still had to see what was at the end of the tunnel. So, what was it? Well, the cave wall came tumbling down to reveal Melanie standing in the middle of a White Room and which she tells the towns people to follow her as she knows the way out. Fade to black,,,,,

Please, just cancel this show once and for all. I'm done and I think a lot of other people are as well. If by chance that CBS does bring it back, I will not be tuning in. I got better things to do with my time and wasting it on this is just not something I want to do. So long you piece of sh*t show. One bright thing about this episode is that they finally killed off the Teacher, who I couldn't stand looking at let alone "acting".

Good God, what is wrong with CBS today? First they renew Extant, now I heard that Under The Dome is getting a 3rd Season. They must be desperate to keep sh*tty shows on the air and cancel good stuff. I have no idea who is in charge, but clearly they haven't watch either show because if they had, they absolutely would not have renewed them. Whatever. I won't be wasting my time with this show again.

I did not know how the financing, streaming, on-demand thing worked. Seems to me bad business practice, in particular from this example.

Quote
BEVERLY HILLS, Calif.--CBS's Under the Dome will escape it when the summer series' third season ends Sept. 10.  The question is whether the show itself survives the Chester's Mill townfolks' newfound freedom.

"The dome is coming down at the end of the season but that opens up a whole host of storytelling possibilities," said CBS Entertainment chairman Nina Tassler. But she wouldn't say whether the show will be renewed for a fourth season, adding that decision will be made by early fall.

Although the series is among summer's top-rated network dramas, its audience has dropped sharply from its big first season. The network has Extant, starring Halle Berry, Zoo (this summer's top new drama) and next year, has already announced plans for Brain Dead, from the creators of The Good Wife. Dome also has been critically lambasted of late for overextending the premise of the Stephen King novel on which it's based.

Still, the network makes money on these shows even with low ratings, thanks to a deal with Amazon Prime that makes them available for streaming within days of their initial airings. So Dome might not be lifted just yet.
