When I first saw the trailer, I immediately wanted to see this for one reason and one reason only: Stallone and Schwarzenegger finally together on screen that wasn't just a cameo (as seen in The Expendables). This was going to be a bonafied pairing of the two greatest action heroes from the 80' and 80's. On that front alone, it was already a winner in my book, even if I didn't really have any hopes Escape Plan being any good. I had very low expectations going into the movie for sure. Even though the movie doesn't suck like I feared, it's still a far cry from their best movies from their glory days. As I said over here (http://pennycan.createaforum.com/movies/escape-plan/msg20965/#msg20965), I was right in that Escape Plan would turn out to be a souped up version of the underrated Lock Up.. This one was more high tech while the former was more like a "standard" prison flick. The big twist at the end revealing Arnold to be Mannheim wasn't a surprise at all. I already knew it would turn out to be him as that was the only "twist" I could think of when the name was first mentioned early into the movie. However, I was surprised that the "CIA" Lawyer turned out to be his daughter. The movie is mindless fun and along with the to Biggest Stars ever, you get Amy Ryan, Jim Caviezel, Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson, Sam Neill and Vincent D'Onofrio, all of who I had no idea would be in this. Pleasant surprise. It's worth a Rent if nothing else. I'd watch it again if I found it while channel surfing.
