So, I saw that my Library finally got a copy of The Legend of Billie Jean, which in itself wasn't anything to make me want to check this out for the first time since 1985. No, it was the cover! I had forgotten just how slammin' hot Helen Slater was back in the day. I had a major crush on her for a short while and seeing her in the movie just reminded me why that was so. Soooooo damn hot! Just check her out when she is swimming and laying out. Hubba hubba! Okay, what about the movie itself? It doesn't suck, but it's also not the best thing there is either. The plot is razor thin and I think what bugs me about it is, her flaw, character-wise is that there is no personal cost to her other than wounded pride. This pushes the limits of believability in her willingness to become an outlaw, just to collect money from a certain man specifically, because of a destroyed moped. Yeah, razor thin.

With that minor gripe out of the way, the movie does have a certain charm to it, one that I certainly wasn't expecting to see so many years later. I got a kick out of seeing baby-face Christian Slater and Yeardley Smith. At the time, I didn't know who either actor was as they hadn't done much prior to this and certainly were a long ways off from what they would eventually be known for. I think as corny as the movie is, it's still worth a Rent just to see Helen parading around in a tank top sans bra.
