Title: World War Z
Post by: Mac on September 08, 2011, 10:10:54 am
World War Z - Dec 12, 2012

So let's track this and see where it goes.  :)

I haven't read the book, but I've heard good stuff about it. Now being made into a major release with Brad Pitt, Mireille Enos,, James Badge Dale, Bryan Cranston

Quote
The story revolves around United Nations employee Gerry Lane (Pitt), who traverses the world in a race against time to stop the Zombie pandemic that is toppling armies and governments and threatening to decimate humanity itself. Enos plays Gerry’s wife Karen Lane; Kertesz is his comrade in arms, Segen.

That right there is Method Acting at its finest. Lee Strasberg would be proud.  ;D Is there not audio with that clip or is my sound card acting all wonky again?

Bad news, 7 more weeks of reshoot

Man, World War Z is having one hell of a time making it to the big screen. Everything you can imagine happening to hamper production has, from the recently announced seven weeks of reshoots to the film's firearms being seized by the government. Now another writer is batting clean up.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, screenwriter Damon Lindelof has been brought in to save Paramount’s troubled zombie movie World War Z. The "Lost" co-creator and co-author of Ridley Scott and Fox’s Prometheus is said to be focusing on the movie's third act. The production hopes to begin reshoots in September or October.

Here's some advice ... lose the imposed PG-13 rating so everyone can get cracking!

The novel is set 10 years after a global zombie epidemic and is an oral history told from many perspectives around the world. Brad Pitt is playing a U.N. worker gathering stories of the great zombie war, and his Plan B shingle is producing. Mireille Enos ("Big Love", "The Killing") plays his wife, a mother of two girls.

Assuming all goes well, look for Forster's adaptation of the Max Brooks zombie infestation novel World War Z in theatres next summer.

You already summed up what this movie is gonna be like: PG-13.

Fail.

Who pushes for a kid-friendly Zombie flick? Do they even know what goes on in a Zombie flick at all?

Fail.

A Detroit local is hoping to bring the dead back to life…in more than one way. If Marc Siwak’s plan comes into fruition, zombies will rise in the dead streets of Detroit as part of a major new theme park attraction.

Siwak wants to create live-action terror theme park Z World on Motor City’s run-down and abandoned streets. Customers would pay to be chased by professional actors and try to seek shelter in ghostly homes, factories and businesses, says the Daily Mail.

Siwak said it would breathe fresh life into the rundown city, giving jobs to hundreds, if not thousands, of people. But critics say it is an ‘exploitative and insensitive ploy’ to profit from Detroit’s problems.

Siwak, who has raised $2,200 of the $140,000 needed through fundraising website IndieGoGo, explains, “While zombies are great, the real neat thing about this project is the potential to inject some life into a forgotten neighbourhood – with the opportunity to work with neighbourhood groups and organisation.”

Would you attend?

This movie is gonna suck BIG TIME!

NOT!

The Zombie as 'ant-colony' to create a human pyramid to scale a wall is freaky scary and very cool looking.

A response to the PG-13 rating....

Quote
Director Marc Forster
One of the most popular shows on TV now is “The Walking Dead”, which is extremely violent. Are you concerned that going for a PG-13 is a little tame considering what people are used to in their weekly viewings? “No, because we approach our zombies in a different way. And I consciously designed the film in a different way, so I think we will overcome that.”

I call bullsh*t on that. "Designing" my ass. It has nothing to do with being creative and everything to do with putting as many asses in seats as possible. They want this to be a HUGE tent pole movie and you really can't do that if you saddle it with an R Rating. Just saying....

I'm going to take the wait and see attitude. Walking Dead does show enough gore for me.

So if the movie is about Story over style, I think this will do well. We have seen sooooo many zombie movies and while they do have expectations, I think people would welcome something refreshing.... like a story or just bloody mayhem.
