The Big Bang Theory (Season 1)
I normally don't watch series a season at a time. Usually it's one long marathon of the entire series. But since I'm getting The Big Bang Theory from the Library, each season has an extensive wait list and timing it perfectly to have each successive season waiting form me when I'm done withprevious season is next to impossible. Bah!

Anger Management
Not on DVD, but watched an episode on TV last week.
Meh, or believe it or not Ugh, because quite frankly I thought they were making an extra effort to throw as much sexual talk at the screen as they could. Now I know Two and Half Men was fairly blue, but it had the right balance of timing, content and context.
Charlie Sheen wasn't bad, but wasn't good either. He can deliver lines like anyone. My bias, because of his meltdown, may have something to do with it. But all in all, I'm not making attempt to try to catch future episodes.

Started watching The West Wing on Netflix. Never seen it before, and I had totally forgotten that Rob Lowe was in it, let alone intended to be the main character. Of course, waiting until now means that my first experience with the show is in HIGH DEF! Although the quality of it isn't fantastic, it's still 16:9 and at least 720 when the connection's good. I love it when old shows were future-proofed like that (although the recaps and opening montages are in 4:3).
-
I've yet to see The West Wing myself. I keep putting it off for a number of reasons, none which makes any sense either. Go figure.
-
I literally started watching it just because I couldn't think of anything to put on.

Paul Williams Still Alive (http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i266/Chiprocks1/Star%20Ratings/HTL_01halfstar.gif)
I ran across this recently and thought I'd give it a try. Like the title says, I thought Paul Williams was dead. I really don't remember much about him and thought maybe this would reveal some things.
Well, it did, but unfortunately it was not that interesting. He's older now doing his singing act and he's not very good because he lost it. He may have written some classics for others, but as a man and show, this was boring.
The kicker was the Stephen Kessler direction. It was horrible. He kind of sets up in documentary why he is doing the documentary. WTF. Then Paul Williams agrees, but the director does some strange chaotic things. He suddenly changes questioning and throws off not only Paul Williams, but us as the viewer. I could only take about 20 minutes of the borefest.
I do not recommend this in any shape or form.

Phil Spector - HBO 2-1/2 Stars
Reviews (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1745862/news?ref_=tt_nwr_3#ni49891211)
Phil Spector is a made for TV Movie from HBO showcasing Al Pacino, Helen Mirren, written and directed by David Mamet. I watched this for one sole purpose. To maybe find out what happened in Phil Spector’s life that lead him to be put on trial for murder. Personally, court room drama movies bore me, but still I gave this a shot.
This is perfectly written for Pacino and Mirren, two powerhouse actors that take this material to thespian levels. While this is what made the movie, it’s also the Achilles heal. It didn’t take long for me to view this as Al Pacino acting. There are long dialogs of Spector’s thoughts and theories. For example, Mirren who decided at the 11th hour to become Spector’s attorney, keeps asking him if he killed Lana Clarkson. Spector (Pacino) constantly dances around a simple yes/no answer.
The movie takes place a day or two before the trial starts. Then it becomes, to me, a standard courtroom drama. Standard operating procedure of how can they get their client free.
Great acting and just a little bit into the neurotic, reclusive, abusive, megalomaniac, arrogant, show-off mind of Phil Spector.
I’d say check it out if you can. Otherwise, this is OK and really is just a TV movie.

This is on my list for things to check out.

I'm really curious as to how these are all meshing in your mind... like, are the Granthams and Crawleys descendants of gladiators and slaves, escaped from Rome and set up in Britain before the Empire fell? And is Dexter Morgan some distant relative of theirs, or is he killing off the rest of their relatives that have come to America?

So, you're checking out Girls. I'm interested in what'cha think. I watched the first season, surprised at some of the rawness of some of the episodes. I have yet to watch the follow up series. My wife has and enjoys it.
-
The SNLs from the 70s are about to expire on Netflix for some insane reason, so I'm watching as much as I can. I feel like they totally missed a trick in the 90s by not releasing a compilation tape of sketches that Monty Python actors popped up in, it's the perfect marriage of the two series, you know?

I've still never seen Nip/Tuck (well, I saw that Kate Mara/Sophia Bush scene because I'm a man with a pulse and an internet connection)... is it any good? I mean, it must be if you want to rewatch it, but I never really heard that much about it.

Hell f*cking yeah it's good!! I thought it was a game changer of a show back when it was on TV and I think it still holds up. It was on FX, but they really pushed the envelope of what they could get away with on Cable TV at the time. This is a show that you would absolutely love. If I don't have any other TV series delivered to me from the Library by the time I'm done with The Shield, I will most likely hit Nip/Tuck next on my list.
-
Stupid Netflix website has been screwy today and yesterday, so I can't add it quite yet... but remind me. The impression in my head is of rakish, kind of sleazy plastic surgeons seducing their patients in low lighting with a pessimistic streak.

The impression in my head is of rakish, kind of sleazy plastic surgeons seducing their patients in low lighting with a pessimistic streak.
I'm not saying sh*t!! ;D
-
What I can tell you is this, the first couple of seasons make you feel dirty enough that you will have to shower to get the ick off of you. That's how I felt all 3 times I've watched the series!!!!!!!
-
How does that measure compared to, say, Breaking Bad? In terms of the magnitude, I mean. When I watched BB, I was just felt so naughty and bad, I felt like I was in the world with them and had that dirt on me as well. Real taste of forbidden fruit going on, very palpable.
-
I never felt dirty watching Breaking Bad. That's not to undermine what the story was. It's just that in the world of Plastic Surgery on Nip/Tuck, especially with the two main characters, one in particular, there was a certain sleaze factor to the show that I really haven't experienced with any show since then.
-
Yeah, I never felt sleazy watching Breaking Bad, but I definitely felt that adrenaline kick that Walter felt when he did something evil.
Oh, I'm SURE Nip/Tuck is sleazy. Added it to my Instant Queue, but I don't know when I'm going to get around to watching it. I have some stuff I need to knock out first.
-
I figure that it will take me a month and a half (with the occasional Library movie thrown into the mix) before I wrap up The Shield from start to finish. After that, as I said before, it's likely to be Nip/Tuck next in line. But that 'month and a half' could actually go pretty fast because once I get into The Shield deeper, I start to binge watch more and more episodes per day.
-
We could conceivably watch it together, that would be cool.
-
I'll definitely let you know when my Nip/Tuck marathon gets started so you can sync up as well.

-
Borrowed some DVDs from my sister, so I've finally got a chance to watch Eastbound and Down, Happy Endings, and a little show called Nashville.
-
The first two shows I have been itching to get around to. But as far as Nashville, I would have bet top dollar that you'd be watching the series as it aired since you sister works on the show.

-
Well, my sister used to get me on screen, and I definitely want to show up on Nashville, and I didn't want to get cut, so I want to be in an integral scene, so I figured one of the best ways to ensure that is that I have no information about the show so I can't spoil the scene I'm in for other people or myself. Strategic ignorance, you know?
-
Let me know when she is going to get on you on the show and I'll fly out and tag along, sneak in and then lay a wet one on Hayden during a pivotal scene, even if it's not called for. ;D

-
Yep. Having me another GoT Marathon.
-
I'm due for a marathon... maybe when the next season comes out (I'm always saying that). It seems WAY less daunting now that the final season of How I Met Your Mother is on Netflix and I saw just HOW many episodes of that show there were. Forty episodes now doesn't seem like that much now.

Frisky Business (Netflix) (http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i266/Chiprocks1/Star%20Ratings/HTL_05star.gif)
Frisky Business is a documentary series (Lifetime UK) of the Lovehoney (http://www.lovehoney.com/offers/FROMCOUK) adult toy business. It's 6 episodes of an engaging and yet playful perspective of the staff at Lovehoney. The documentary reveals quite a bit about the business side, which drives the script. It's the employees that is the cherry on the unflinching reality of sex. I've only watched 2 episodes so far and learned (and laughed) so much about the adult toy business. Highly recommend this cheeky documentary.

I finished the series Dusk to Dawn by Robert Rodriguez. I think he did a fantastic job of expanding the backstories of movie. Through 10 episodes, the characters’ lives are explored in depth. The pace was the same as the movie and keeps you engaged. I never got bored. There’s plenty of surprising revelations in the stories. There were plenty of twists and turns, but it always got back on track with the movie. Plenty of nice touches with the characters. It took me half the season to realize Carlos (bad guy) is Wilmer Valderrama (aka Fez of That 70’s Show). As I mentioned before D. J. Cortona as Seth Gecko and Zane Holtz as his brother Richie were exceptional. There are plenty of beautiful woman, er, vampire creatures to keep the eyes glazed over.
Watching how Rodriguez constructed this season, I can see he will have no problem of putting together season 2. It pretty much can go anywhere, much like American Horror Story does.
I highly recommend the series, if you liked the movie

Toy Story That Time Forgot
I've been looking forward to this, and... yeah, it was cool.
I'm really curious to see the blu-ray, obviously the picture feels restrictive on 4:3 SD, but I know there's a TON of work that went on behind the scenes, the Battlesaurs were developed in a heck of a lot of detail, which I'm sure we only scratch the surface of in the course of the special. And if the last Blu is any guide, there should be some awesome fake commercials in there as well. Plus I'm really curious about the voices, only the "big name" cast are listed online, most of the interesting side characters aren't credited on the sites.
BTW, I imagine there are going to be a lot of "Angel Kitty" ornaments sold in the near future.

Tom Thorne: (Sleepyhead, Scardy Cat) Netflix
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TC19c7yyXGE
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sQIzi3KElA8
2 different Series in a movie format (all one screening). David Morrissey (Governor in Walking Dead) is Detective Tom Thorne who appears to have unique investigative skills, but is still normal as a human being as any of us. My wife found these two movies interesting. She kinda like these CSI type of shows. I do not, but I didn't mind watching these Tom Thorne shows. The writing and direction is brisk and well done. A week from now I won't be able to tell you anything about them.
Morrissey does seem to 'act' exactly as he did in The Walking Dead (with obvious vastly different character flaws). I didn't see any stretch. But that's OK, that character is pretty much every man and believable.

I just watched the pilot for "The Man In The High Castle," it was good (and it looked freakin' AMAZING). I had been reminded of the book because of the Japanese San Francisco in Big Hero 6, so it was weird so soon after seeing it "for real" on this show.
The show takes place in 1962, about 20 years after the Nazis won World War II, and all is... well, crummy but status quo, except that Mr Hitler has Parkinsons, and once he dies, the sh*t is gonna hit the fan with a full out war between the Nazis and empire of Japan.
They do a real creepy version of Times Square with a giant neon version of the Nazi flag in the center, and while I can totally imagine that the Nazis would put their stamp on everything, seeing the swastika on the freakin' PHONE felt like overkill. I kept thinking abut Emperor and how the Americans helped rebuild Japan after WWII and how the defeat became part of their cultural persona, and I know it would be different with the Nazis and the Japanese, but all the conquered stuff felt very "surface." The best thing they did was the state trooper, there's this scene where the main character gets his flat tired fixed by this state trooper, totally regular working joe, nice guy, exactly the same character you'd see with any state trooper in any show, and he mentions he was a soldier when he was young and now he doesn't even remember what they were fighting for anymore. And right after that, it starts snowing ash, and he explains "that's from the hospital, they burn the bodies every Tuesday." Creepy as f*ck, and played totally straight, no music, no dramatic music, nothin'. I'm hoping for more of that if the series gets an order, which I imagine will.
Oh, this is why I don't like pilot season, outside of the waste of developing a show and only doing one episode, I'll have to wait for freaking EVER to see the next episode. I want to watch episode 2 now, man!
Now, I'm watching the pilot for "Mad Dogs," it's based on a British show I wanted to see (it had Philip Glenister and John Simm from "Life On Mars"), it's about four friends who go to Belize only to realize that the dude who invited them (Billy Zane) is a criminal. The show's got Michael Imperioli and Steve Zahn in it, and I don't remember who else, but it looks pretty darn beautiful too.
Oh, just started "C o c k e d." Wasn't really keen on it until I found out Jason Lee is in it! And guess who showed up in the first scene, Big Mike from Chuck!
-
Where are you watching these? The Pilot Network? ;) Never heard about any of these.
-
Amazon Prime. In fact, i don't think you need Prime, I watched the pilots last year just on their web site. Prime just lets me watch them on my Roku.
Dang, I even like C o c k e d! It feels like Nashville or Dallas but about a crusty, crazy gun company with the liberal son having to come in to save the company.

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt - Netflix
OK, truth is we are not really watching it. It recently came to Netflix, we queued it up and watched the first episode.
Me - hated it. I found nothing about it entertaining. I get the cutesy charm, but Unbreakable is not for me. Won't be returning to watch it. My wife on the other hand found it cute. Not sure cute enough to go back to watch the rest of the episodes.

Blackish - ABC
On the other hand I absolutely LOVE Blackish. I LOL quite a bit through the show. All the characters are funny as hell. My far and away favorite characters are Laurence Fishburn as Andre's dad and Tracee Ellis Ross as Bow (Rainbow), Andre's wife. Just her face and eyes crack me up. Love this show.

Natures Weirdiest Events Netflix BBC
A documentary series on weather, but mostly nature animals. It moves along at a pretty good pace. Most of the stuff is new to me. A couple of times there was gagging going on. Nature can be gross. 5 episodes at 1 hour was just enough for a mini-binge.

The Carbonaro Effect (tru TV)
I love this show anytime it's on, I just stop what I'm doing and watch. The guy (Michael Carbonaro)is doing amazing magic. It's combination of magic show and hidden camera. Incorporating amazing up close magic in every day activities, throwing the unsuspecting public off their feet. He really loves to f*ck with the people. He's gone before people have time to think what just happened.
Awesome, awesome show

The Fall 3 Stars Netflix
Giilian Anderson is determined detective to capture the very intelligent serial killer
On Netflix, this is 2 seasons (12 episodes) of immediately realizing who the serial killer is. Thus the rest of both seasons is being able to view the cat and mouse game from both perspectives.
Overall, I found The Fall to be entertaining. Gillian Anderson is way more subdued in her character than previous characters. Almost catatonic at times.
For me, I found the pacing suddenly change the last 4 episodes. As if there was really only material for one. And honestly they did drag this out. Like a movie, where you know everything and your just waiting for the players to catch up. Because essentially this is one long movie.
Netflix just announced a season three and I could see easily how they would continue this story line.
I probably won't watch it. I saw plenty.
-
Aquarius 3 Stars NBC
David Duchovnys new project of the detective tracking Charles Manson in the 1960's. It's kind of surprising to see NBC release all 12 episodes at once. Sign of the times I guess.
I really enjoyed it shooting out of the box. The music was phenomenal. The characters interesting.
Thing is by episode 4 I was losing interest. My wife enjoys it, despite it being a period show.
I will probably stop.
PS: I did hear a legit "f*ck" in the dialog. I wonder if the changed things for onDemand?
-
I watched the 2 hour premiere of Aquarius last week. There was enough there for me to want to see more. The very next day, Roku put up the Aquarius Channel. I clicked on it and was shocked to see that all of Season 1 was up for grabs. I thought this was a error on their part. Naturally I wanted to watch it all before it got pulled. I plowed through all 12 episodes in 3 days only to find out that it was designed that way. As for the series, it never really elevated beyond 3 Star level for me either. It's just a decent show. Not bad, but not great as it should be. With that said, if it comes back for another season, I'd tune in again.

ZOO (James Patterson)
Well, I was hoping for the best, but sadly, this is campy summer filler. The dialog is laughable, but it will make you go HUH, on occasion.
Some are calling it silly goofy fun. I mean you really have to take a huge leap of faith to buy into any of this.
I think the conversations may turn to bets on how long before it get cancelled.
It's pretty stupid. I can't believe this would carry on for 13 episodes.
I don't think I'll make any effort to seek this out.
-
I can't believe there's enough James Patterson stuff to fill a single episode of a show, let alone a 13-episode season.
-
I watched Zoo last night because there was nothing else on. I had seen a few TV Spots for this the last few weeks and never did I say to myself "this is something I want to watch". And yet, there I was last night...watching....THIS? This is on par with Under The Dome. Not as bad as that for sure, but still a throwaway series. I doubt it even makes it's full run before getting cancelled. But then again, I said the same about UTD and that's still on the air. Go figure.

Ascension (Netflix)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AJqQ4OdPcAo
Ran across Ascension on Netflix that has a 4-/2 star rating, which in Netflix term is well liked show. Watching the first 30-40 minutes will have you trying to figure out the what, where and especially when aspect of the show. My wife was getting a little frustrated because it was not spelling things out clearly the way she likes. It’s rather complicated.
A 6 episode sci-fi drama that has a very interesting mash-up. 51 years ago, the United States secretly launched a giant space craft that will hold a 600 person community for the 100 year journey to another galaxy. The show switches back and forth between the space ship and earth. The earth is definitely present day. The ships crew has appeared to freeze in time. They have the fashion of the 1950’s. So after 2 episodes, I’m not sure at what point in time we are watching ship time. I assume present day. It can be head scratcher. One of the key scenes is the fantastic idea of pulling the camera back from the murdered victim, up and through various rooms and structures, twisting and turning through some very contemporary compartments and structures and finally outside the enormous ship. Realizing that the political ball, the underground scamming, the ocean side swim all occur within feet of each other inside the space ship. Brilliant reveal.
The thrust of the show is a murder. A murder within a large community on a spaceship presents some interesting dilemma’s. The show also raises more complex views of politics, science and class structure.
The hour moves pretty fast. I know I’ll be following through with this. Not a big fan of the detective murder scenario’s, but there is plenty going on to make the ride fun.
-
I loved that pull-out with "Rocket Man" playing, I watched that three or four times in a row, I thought that was pretty cool. And yeah, the ship stuff is taking place in the present day (they tried to say it), but they had a different development from the 60s... though honestly some of the tech seems REAL unlikely, like their iPad things. Too advanced, even for the premise.
My main question is... are you just not spoiling the twist about the show or are you guys definitely not getting what's happening between Earth and the ship?

Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mAmYUt1-5Rg
SyFy was smart and gave us reruns of Sharknado 1 & 2, several times prior to the premiere of 3 last night. I remember how cheesy they were. I just didn't remember how incredibly cheesy they are.
All I can think of is, the writer's must of had an awesome time thinking of story progression and what can we do to blow people's minds with utter ridiculousness.
If there was ever a poster for Cheesy, the Sharknado movies need to be the kind.
I watched it alone, but I would think these movies are more appropriate with like minded friends who get drunk. I laughed out loud several times. One scene just had me rolling with Frankie Muniz. I really don't like him. He's grown into a odd looking adult. Anyway, his demise was hilarious. As he makes his way back to the van, a shark severs his leg. He barely makes it inside when another shark bites off his arm. He crawls his way to the top of the van (to set off a bomb). As barely crawls along the roof, a shark bites off his other leg.
You can see where this is going... and it does.
With just one arm left he reaches out to push the button for the bomb. Yep, yet another shark bites off his remaining limb. He waddles up to switch and blows the bomb up with his chin.
Again... you have to be in the mind set for the most ridiculous movie ever made.
Oh, by the way... Sharknado 4 is coming.

Childhood’s End (SyFy) (http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i266/Chiprocks1/Star%20Ratings/HTL_05star.gif)
Syfy finally launched their 3 night mini-series Childhood’s End. Arthur C Clark penned back in 1953.
I’m happy to say, the first 2 hour installment was excellent. The production values are major motion picture good. Diametrically opposite what the SyFy channel is known for. Crap CGI. I’ve not read the book, but hopefully they are staying true to the story, because it is quite engaging. The last 2 minutes will surprise you.
The show has borrowed many visual ideas from current films like Independence Day, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, 2001: A Space Odyssey and others. That’s OK. I look at that as more of an homage than ripoff.
I am very much looking forward to the rest of the series. Syfy is rebroadcasting the episodes prior to the new show. I highly recommend based off of just watching 1/3 of it.
Hopefully this is a new direction for the channel.
-
Actually, ID4 and Close Encounters borrowed from this. And 2001 is the same writer.
As for the twist at the end, well, I read the book and I've always been curious to see what a film version of... that... would look like. To say nothing of what's coming up in episode three. I figured that would be the thing that kept this from ever getting made.
-
Even the visuals with the spaceship arrival and the screws coming undone, etc?
To say nothing of what's coming up in episode three. I figured that would be the thing that kept this from ever getting made.
ah dayum.... you din't just do that to me?

io9 or whatever they're calling themselves now has a little showcase up of the alien ships from Childhood's End (http://io9.gizmodo.com/the-childhoods-end-miniseries-has-given-us-some-utterly-1750523199). Pretty striking stuff... and different than the spaceships we're used to seeing in movies and TV.

Checked out the pilot and 2nd episode of The Detour (TBS). Looooooooved it. "The Hotel" not only raised my eyebrow, but made me laugh out loud.
Then it was onto the much anticipated Hunters (SyFy). Well it started off with some very weird stuff. Didn't really know what was going on... Then it quickly became a cop show (but, for aliens). The standard detectives in a detective building, blah, blah, blah. So I was completely lost the whole hour and when it became CSI-like. I just chucked it in for a loss.

Just a reminder... The Detour on TBS (http://www.tbs.com/shows/the-detour.html?sr=the%20detour%20schedule)
Ep. 4 The Restaurant was so fun. The opening scene with the sick kid and dad, just had me rolling and cringing at the the same time. So many oh-no-you-din't moments.
Easily in my current top 2 (behind Black-ish)

Sex in the Comix (Netflix)
http://youtu.be/P-MH8npaFTk
It's only an hour long documentary and I was hoping to make you guys aware of this... But I can't endorse it.
It misses the mark in such a simple but essential way. The documentary is mostly interviewing various international artist. But the movie doesn't provide subtitles. They go on an on talking and I have no clue to what they are discussing. So I attempt to turn on Netflix titles and the stupid film only displays "blah blah is talking French" and that's it.
I know we are missing a ton of commentary. Just weird.
-
That's WEIRD. It sounds like a technical failing that Netflix has sometimes (for example, on How I Met Your Mother, there will sometimes be title cards that are blank, presumably because they want the text to be in other languages, but it doesn't appear at all. Netflix's re-subbing also ruins a great joke in "The Imposters" which is dependent on the subs being part of the image).
-
Didn't see we had a 'Looking Forward Too' for TV.
But... Looking forward to Preacher and Feed The Beast. Both AMC.

You all know that I'm loathe to buy digital products, but I have no idea if The Grinder is going to come out on blu-ray or DVD, so I admit that I'm tempted to buy The Grinder on Amazon, if it's there. But I would much rather have the physical copy any day of the week. But one-season shows sometimes don't come out.
-
I'm confident it will come out on DVD given that it's a full 22 episode season. But don't quote me on that. And yes, I will pick this up on DVD myself. It's a must-own.

Helix (Season 2) Netflix & probably SyFy.
I really enjoyed Season 1 of Helix. The pace was quick and smart. Lots of reveals throughout the season. Characters were great as was the storyline.
Trailer below.
Season 2 on the other hand seems to be written by a whole different group of people. Trying to trace the virus down, the setting is one island that has a cult following. I'm finding it very corny. Especially since they are focusing on 'Immortals'. Yea, I guess people who live forever. I'm only in it for 3-4 episodes thus far and struggling to find it keeping my attention.

So I've been watching the new Match Game as they've been coming out, and there was finally a must-watch episode. Match Game is a tricky one to do in this day and age. While our minds are certainly still as filthy as they were back in the day, now our mouths are as dirty. It used to be that you needed a dirty pun to avoid saying what you were thinking out loud, and that I think was part of the fun of the game, but now that's not there. It was a game of suggestion, after all.
Alec Baldwin is... an interesting host, especially in the first episode because it felt like he was hosting the show against his will and that **** me up. I just got the sense that he hated every moment on stage, which if it was intentional, was sheer brilliance. But after a week at the job he's starting to get into the groove.
But what makes the show is the panel, and the panel last night was perfect. Not just because of the people on it (including Jack MacBrayer, so red he looks like George Hamilton), but the fact that they abandoned any sense of decorum. They were already allowed to drink, but last night they were getting up and walking around, talking to each other, sharing answers, and Leah Remini conferring with Leslie Jones was priceless ("I've never been scared of a white girl before!"). H3ll, one point Leslie Jones, who admits to having no poker face, got so upset she got up and walked backstage to vent for a second. And one of the players got a perfect match the first time through, so the show didn't have enough content to cut that stuff out, they had to show it! Game shows are always entertaining when things go wrong (that entire "you fool!" episode of Hollywood Squares comes to mind), and I hope this level of insanity continues, because that made Match Game a must watch for me.
-
Never heard of it. But it sounds fun.

Started Stranger Things on Netflix last night with the first episode.
Love it. It absolutely hooks you. It instantly throws me back to the classics from the 70's and 80's. Great characters, interesting story. First frame throws you into the mystery.
I can't watch to watch the rest of it.

So my sister just swung by, and we were chatting about a lot of stuff, and she mentioned she knows "the girl from Stranger Things." Not Elven ("that's her name?") but Natalia Dyer/Nancy Wheeler. And looking at her IMDB, I think they worked together a couple of times... including a movie I show up in!

I'm confused. You were in a movie with ? Sis? Sis and Dyer?
-
And this zoomed around on the internets... Eleven (Millie Bobbie Brown) getting her head shaved for the role.

-
Natalia Dyer, who plays Nancy Wheeler, was in this movie called "Blue Like Jazz." There's a scene where the main character starts his first day of college, and I'm seated right behind him.
-
Cool... That should be in a trivia contest we have years from now.
-
I know I have a screencap of it somewhere.
There was another scene I was meant to do where I was part of a hard-drinking fraternity, but that scene got moved, so they decided to have my sister do it (far more believable), but then it wound up getting cut anyway. I haven't done anything like that in a long time, even though I'm apparently pretty good at standing around and not getting noticed.
-
Apparently there is a career there. You might as well get paid for it.
https://youtu.be/IdEBu7ODVk8
-
Yeah, but they don't have to pay extras here, so... they don't. I usually do it as a favour for Em (though she's never had me on NASHVILLE) or as a lark (like Thomas Rhett's "Something To Do With My Hands" music video), but I haven't done it in years.
-
Yeah, but they don't have to pay extras here, so... they don't.
Wha ? ? ?
-
If she won't put you on Nashville, then I'll do it. Besides, I'm the only one that watches the show. I SHOULD be on it! ;D

Love this show. It's definitely mindless fun, but I tell ya, it's a great fun hour of being somewhere else.
William Shatner, Henry Winkler, Terry Bradshaw & George Foreman playing around Asia. Commentary, horseplay and just jacking around.
Definitely recommend as a summer wrap up.

White Rabbit Project (5 Stars) Netflix
https://youtu.be/ohb5k3_vQcE
The just released binge watching series from Netflix is a logical spinoff from the outstanding Mythbusters. starring Grant Imahara, Tory Belleci and the very hot Kari Byron, recreate scenarios f varying degrees and also test fictional ideas. The show follows the same formula of Mythbusters and is engaging from opening credits to the the end.
It helps if your nerdy and enjoy this kind of science. ;)
I love the show. All these guys are very personable. Naturally they play to the camera a bit, but with tongue firmly planted in cheek.
Great, great show

The mind control bit was hilarious.

I just checked out the first episode of Good Behavior. It was good, not great. There is a lot of potential. Based on the trailer, it misrepresented itself...or it just how I envisioned it. I was under the impression that Michelle Dockery's character was a Hit-Women from the start. Not the case. She's a grifter, con-artist, thief, junkie that meets her match...a Hitman that she steals from and must now work off her debt. I'll stick around for a few episodes to see where it goes. She's definitely playing against type than what she is known for on Downton Abbey.

After hearing about the third episode, "About A Girl," I took a plunge I don't normally do and bought the season pass for The Orville and watched the first three episodes. I'm liking this, it's definitely more "Trek with jokes" than "Family Guy In Space," which is what they tried to sell it all.
The first episode, "Old Wounds," is the weakest, which wasn't surprising. They have to introduce the ship, the crew, the world, the mission... and they do it in a pretty standard, linear way that always kept me from being able to write my own version of this.
BTW, I'm a fool: I just not noticed that the Orville itself is inspired by a bottle opener, they just put some extra rings on (and I do like how the rings turn on in sequence).
Episode two, "Command Performance," put young Alara in command of the ship for the first time after an away mission goes wrong. It reminds me of Enterprise, the whole "new ship trying to do something for the first time," and Alara is wonderfully flustered as she tries t earn everyone's respect and figure out exactly what to do to save the day. We also get much more of Ed and Kelly together and see how they compliment each other but just can't make it work in a marriage.
Episode three, "About A Girl." Throughout the episode, I kept thinking "I'm watching Star Trek." And I haven't felt that in a long time, it was a wonderful melancholy. Everyone seems to be surprised that the show went there, and did it so well. Really makes me wonder what's coming in the future (I just not remembered that Charlize Theron is going to be in an episode).
I also love the little mentions of contemporary culture, which Star Trek never really did. Orville has references to 20th century pop culture, they quote Beyonce in an episode, Seth MacFarlane has a Kermit The Frog on his desk, Kelly gets a pot brownie (sorry, "one cannibis edible").
-
OMG, the Orville tonight was amazing... the show was cute but this one was straight up LOL funny.
So backstory, Seth McFarlane and Adrienne Palicki's characters are divorced, he caught her cheating on him with a blue alien in the first episode. Tonight's episode brought him back.
And it was Rob freakin' Lowe.
His species emits a phermone that makes people fall in love with him, meaning this episode he manages to snare the attraction of... Seth McFarlane. Yeah, that happened. And it was hilarious.
It also had the insanely weird visual of Norm MacDonald's character (Norm MacDonald is in this show, btw) finally hooking up with Dr Finn.
-
FOX hasn't (will not) upload episodes for this on Roku. So, I took that off my watch list a while back. May catch it on DVD when it comes out.
