I waited a long time to finally be able to check out Avengers: Age of Ultron and I gotta say I'm somewhat disappointed with the end results. Mind you, this is a decent flick for what it is, but I found it to be very underwhelming and a large part of the blame goes to the first Avengers (http://pennycan.createaforum.com/dvd's-blu-rays/the-avengers-(2012)/msg13252/#msg13252) film. Everything that made the first film great was missing in this one. For me, what made it so great was seeing how all the parts were going to fit together. Seeing how the major characters (and actors) were going to come together for the first time was part of the charm and seeing how they worked as a team to fight a credible threat made it the ultimate popcorn flick. For Age of Ultron, that charm obviously had worn off because they are now a full-time team and have been so for some time now.

But it's more than that. I just think that the story itself just wasn't compelling at all. Also, some of the characters just didn't seem to even be there much. I was very surprised at how little Iron Man is in this. Sure, we get the customary close-up of Tony Stark....but not much of Iron Man doing his thing. Thor, same thing. It felt very disjointed and unbalanced for all the characters. I will say that once again, Hulk steals the movie, just as he did the first time around, but he too had limited screen time. By the end of the movie, you know you're just watching a placeholder film for the eventual 3rd film in the franchise. So, nothing much is really going to happen other than eye candy. My expectations for Age of Ultron were insanely high and that is my fault. I was just really hoping that this particular franchise could outdo itself and gives us a sequel greater than the first. But alas, this just points out that for every Empire Strikes Back, there are more sequels that fail to deliver what we want and just give us more of the same. Worth a Rent, but nothing more. With that said, I'm still very much looking forward to Avengers: Civil War. It just sucks that Hulk will have no place in the two-parter. I have plenty of other thoughts regarding Age of Ultron, but I'm gonna just keep this short and move on...
