Identity Thief sucks. There is nothing I took away from this other than it's a bad movie. I never saw the trailer, but I knew exactly what the movie would be based on the premise and the cover. Even before I even knew it would be a road trip, I already said they would use the Planes, Trains and Automobiles template where Jason Bateman would be at odds with Melissa McCarthy's character, rely on her "skill" to get money for much needed money and somehow find it in his heart to forgive her by the end and be the friend she has spent her entire life searching for. I really don't know how this movie could ever succeed because who the f*ck is ever going to root for someone that drains other people's bank account to live the life they want while leaving the victims penniless and in financial ruin. As much as I like Melissa McCarthy, she was just never going to get my sympathy, no matter how hard her character tried to make me laugh. Beyond not like the characters, the plot is just to formulaic to offer up anything original. Definitely Skip this one.

Agree, this was money grab/experiment that didn't work

Hated it.  And I really felt bad for Amanda Peet, so underused.
