Title: 2016 Grammy's
Post by: Mac on February 15, 2016, 08:02:06 pm
I tried, I really tried to take in this award show. Tons of music and live (well as live as you want to think) performances.

Most of it was Just so-so. Some real horrible stuff. I did like Lady Gaga's tribute to Bowie. The blues tribute to B B King was by far the most satisfying.

This Alice Cooper segment with Johnny Depp and Joey (Aerosmith) blew.

I sat through this for my wife and friends. Doubt I ever do this again. 3-1/2 hours for a few minutes of goodness is not worth it.

I watched it as well and I consider this to be one of the all time worst ever. All the performances sucked donkey balls, with the exception of Adele. The absolute worst and most embarrassing performance was Lady Gaga's tribute to David Bowie. What a pile of sh*t. Anyone that says this was the highlight of the show was and is clearly high. Last year's show was great. This year....not so much.

I wasn't high  ;)
Drunk maybe

Chip, when Adele performed, did you hear the guitar noise? How do I describe it. When Adele was performing solo with just the piano, an acoustic guitar strumming feed was coming through at random. It's not part of the song. In the beginning it was so loud, it just about drowned out her voice. I wondered if Adele was hearing it.

Edit: never mind, I guess we all heard it...

I didn't hear anything wrong with Adele's performance other than the audio cutting out 15 seconds into the song before returning to normal. I don't know if it has to do with West Coast feeds, but normally there is a delay between it being shown on the East Vs. West and any problems that occur live on East are corrected on the West, regardless of where the show is being hosted. That's my only guess.

FYI, that must be some seriously strong moonshine you were drinking last night. Give me a bottle please.  ;D

I get your point of view. It was very Vegas-y type of tribute and that might offend a fan. I would never buy or seek out to further listen to her version... or anyone else for that matter. I just glad to see at that moment, a lot of time dedicated to his work.

I was actually looking at it from a band point of view. Hey, a female can perform Bowie music, if I was in a band with a female singer.

The BB King tribute I thought was awesome. I'm not a fan of him and his style... or blues in general, but I loved that performance. I guess it's all where you're coming from.

Anyway, the West Coast got very lucky. Yes, the big drop was there, but this nauseating guitar strum peppered the song... loudly, the first half.

I wondered if she was aware of all this. Dayum, I feel bad for her. She still was a trooper through it though.

Quote
Adele has revealed that she cried the entire day after her Grammys performance.

During an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Thursday, the singer opens up to Ellen DeGeneres about the technical difficulties that marred Monday night's performance of "All I Ask."

"During changeover and the ad break, the microphones fell onto the piano strings, which is what the guitar noise was – some people thought it was [Justin] Bieber rehearsing but it wasn't him," she joked. "And it just kinda put the whole thing off, really."
