Title: Star Wars: Han Solo (2018)

Young Han Solo Found With Alden Ehrenreich (https://www.yahoo.com/movies/young-han-solo-found-with-alden-ehrenreich-025408789.html)

I don't know who this is. But whatever, he looks like a young Harrison Ford. Good call. But can he act?

I honestly am only slightly aware of the Star Wars resurgence. What's the plan? They going to go crazy and do a bunch of these?

Rumor has it that there will be one Star Wars related movie a year. Some are stand alone origin stories like Han Solo and Boba Fett. These will alternate with the Main Episodic films: VII, VIII, etc....And then there are the flicks like Rogue One. The Episodic flicks will come every 2 years. That's how I've read it to be.

It's because they can only make three "Episodes" (well, four if they split up the last one as I've suggested they might), and they want SW to keep on rolling.  So they want to establish an expanded cinematic universe now.  I guess it makes sense to do these "original trilogy" movies now since we know more about it than the new era, but honestly, after Episode VII I expect a majority of SW films will take place in the "present," keeping the story going with the "Episodes" as the "Avengers" type of must-see movie and the others and stand-alone flicks like "Iron Man" or "Thor."  After Boba Fett (ill-advised, I think), I hope we get a Finn and Poe movie or a Rey movie or a "those guys from The Raid who were in one scene" movie.  Avoid looking backwards, is what I'm saying.

Even though the idea of 3 separate Trilogies (1-9) as stated by Lucas is coming to a close, I highly doubt Star Wars will end on Episode 9. I think for as long as Star Wars remains a profitable franchise, they will continue onward with Episode 10, 11, 12, etc....and weave in these stand along flicks in the off years. I'm still not sure what to make of a Boba Fett flick though. Popular character in toy form, but as a character on screen, he really doesn't have much to say or do, which makes me question if there is really a need for a new flick.

I could imagine a Boba Fett movie in the style of, say, Lone Wolf And Cub or The Professional, have him be a more static character protecting and killing a client, navigating his way through the murkier parts of the Star Wars universe.  Have a finale where he fights those other bounty hunters from Empire Strikes Back, that kind of thing.  Instead of Cloud City, maybe an underwater city, they could flood it or something.  That could be neat.

And yeah, they might continue doing Episodes, but I think they need 3-Ep plans before they start, it just makes sense.  We read the Episodes as trilogies.  So I'm sure we could get a fourth one, but I imagine that, too, will start with a new cast in a new era.  But I'd like to see more of Finn and Rey outside of their episodes, I want this new world to continue some more, you know?

I'm confident in saying that Rey and Finn would appear in Episodes 10 and onward (that is if they don't kill them off), maybe in limited roles. But I do agree that they will have to expand the universe and have new characters anchoring Eps 10, 11 and 12.

Wasn't sure where to post this, but someone on Twitter pointed out that Sebastian Stan looks just like Luke Skywalker.  Disney has GOT to spring on this!

Yeah, if they don't get him now, I think any other actor that portrays Luke will look idiotic when they have "Luke" sitting right in front of them.

I'm gonna take this opinion with a grain of salt, but there is a part inside of me that wants this to be true.

Star Wars - Han Solo Movie Adds Emilia Clarke to the Cast | Collider News

I love her in Game of Thrones, but I thought she was horrible in Terminator Genisys. So, just like the guy in the video, I'm pretty meh on the fact that she is joining the cast.

Lucasfilm Confirms Woody Harrelson for Han Solo Movie - IGN News

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NIgnVhzVyk4

At first, I wasn't sold on the idea of Woody being some sort of mentor to Han in large part because he has already played this part in the Hunger Games franchise. But the more I think about it, the more I kinda like this casting move.

Star Wars: Ron Howard Will Take Over as Han Solo Director - IGN News

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_DTkRz_Hk8g

I heard the news about the original directors getting fired which actually surprised me, but seeing Ron Howard stepping in really surprised me. I like the choice here. But the biggest surprise was just how much of the movie has already been shot.

Tag and Bink are in the movie, holy cow.  Little cameo, but still.  Dang.

Solo: A Star Wars Story: Super Bowl Teaser

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jvC_9iTKT8I

I have no idea how they got this uploaded that fast. It literally just aired less than 3 minutes ago during the Superbowl. Anyway, this is just a Teaser for the big Trailer tomorrow. I will say that some of the stuff we get here looks good. But all I'm hearing is that Disney is already writing this movie off as a disaster. Sigh. Still looking forward to the Trailer tomorrow though.

"They?"  it's not capped off the TV, I assume they had the video ready but weren't allowed to release it until the commercial aired.

It's been a hoot to watch the Reactions for this Teaser. Overwhelmingly everyone is saying that it looks good (like I said) and some are saying that it's more in line with Rogue One, which I also agree with. But the majority of every reaction I've watched so far is p*ssing on the lead actor for Han and saying that they are trying to hide him as much as possible. That's what I thought of too when I first watched the Teaser. But I wouldn't go so far as to say that Disney is trying to bury the guy because of his acting. It's a Teaser people! Keep it in perspective. You have a full Trailer coming tomorrow. Sheesh! Talk about overreacting "fans".

Solo: A Star Wars Story Trailer

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=icbPWZp88P0

They should have released this yesterday during the Superbowl instead of the Teaser. I think it would have calmed a lot of fears. Is it perfect? No. Is it as bad as most people on the "inside" have made it out to be? I'm not sure it's bad. Yeah, selective editing in a Trailer can hide a lot of problems. But just based on all the leaks regarding this flick, I had this pegged to be something akin to the 21 Jumpstreet Reboot, which I knew would never be....but it did rattle around in the head for a bit.

Here's an interesting reaction: the Red Letter Media guys recorded their reaction to the trailer before it dropped.. and they were pretty much on the money.  The video was released a couple days ago, and now updated with the actual trailer put in.

I guess all trailers ARE alike.

The Sabotage Trailer did the one thing the Original Trailer couldn't do....and that was to get me super pumped for the movie. Boy, I'm gonna be very disappointed when I find out the song isn't in a Star Wars flick.  ;D

Trailer #2

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MYV3CzllHRs

I'm actually feeling a lot more optimistic about this movie based on this new Trailer. More so than I was after the last Trailer which in itself was good too. The other worthy news of the day is that they intend to premiere the movie at the Cannes Film Festival a full 10 days before it's official release. They must have a lot of confidence in the film to release it that far in advance and not worry about bad press getting out and affecting ticket sales. So, just something to chew on there.
