Title: Preacher (Season 1 - 2016)
Post by: Chiprocks1 on May 28, 2016, 09:26:36 pm
I've known about the Comic Book for years, but I never once came across an issue to read for myself. I have zero knowledge of the characters, stories or the mythology. So, watching the Pilot kept me at arms length as I was trying to figure out what exactly is going on. Yes, there were a handful of interesting scenes, ranging from odd to cool. But the scenes seem fractured from each other and never once gave me any information that I could use to piece this together. I know the series will reveal itself eventually and I have an idea of what's going on, but I'm still in the dark what this series is looking to do overall. I'll stick with it for the time being.

My thoughts exactly with the fractured story telling. It was too much for my wife, and I'm on the cusp of not getting engaged. I've only seen the 90 min. Pilot, but it has not driven me to check out more.

I watched the second episode a few days back and I'm seriously contemplating bailing on the show already. The first episode was all over the place, but I was hopeful that things would sort itself out moving forward. Nope. The second episode seemed even more of a mess in trying to piece everything together.  I have 2 episodes waiting in the queue and I'm not even tempted to watch them. Maybe if there isn't anything else on, I may give it one more try, but as of now, not going there.

Okay, I had nothing else to watch and decided to binge watch Episodes 3-10 yesterday and today and sure enough, the show is just way better this way. My problem in trying to watch Preacher week to week was just not going to work. A ton of characters with story lines bouncing all over the place and factor in trying to retain all this information for a whole week and you have problems. But with everything playing back to back, all those issues went away. Now I can go back and watch the first two episodes and feel right at home. So, yeah, Preacher is definitely the show to watch and more importantly, it sets up Season 2 as a must-watch series as well. Very pumped for its return. Keep in mind, this series is still odd, weird and wacky, but it all makes sense now. Definitely give it a shot if you can watch them all at once. I give the entire season 4 Stars out of 5.

Absolutely love the cover to Blind Melons' Rain. It's perfect song choice for the montage that plays at the end of the Season Finale.
