I really had no intention of ever checking out Semi-Pro. But with nothing else available, I said "sure, why not". It's a Will Ferrel movie, so you know what you're gonna get and that kind either be a good thing or a bad thing. If you have seen any of his movies, you know exactly what I'm talking about. The movie reminded me a lot of The Fish That Saved Pittsburgh. Ironically enough, Fish was an actual movie from the 70's while Semi-Pro "takes place in the 70's". Both use the era's soundtrack to get effect. If I had to make a more precise comparison, plot-wise...Semi owes a huge debt to Major League. Sh*tty team looking to make one final run and earn the respect of players, fans and teammates alike. Simple...but it works. The movie is an either / or proposition. If you want dumb fun, this may be what you're looking for. Otherwise, move along.
