The Foreigner was pushed as a new kind of Jackie Chan film...something you've never seen from him before and in that regard it is different and certainly a step up in the right direction. I've been a HUGE Chan Fan for years, but the last handful of his movies just weren't all that good. He was being shoe-horned into something he has never been....family friendly. The only thing I can think of that was good in the last 15 years was The Karate Kid Reboot. But I'm getting off track here. So, this is billed as a new Chan and from the Trailer, it reinforces that. We are getting a grizzyly old man avenging the loss of his daughter. In a way, the closest I can compare this to another would be Death Wish. With that said, this was a decent flick....just not anywhere near what I thought I would get here. Even though Martin Campbell does a good job directing, the pacing was off at times. Jackie's character drops out of sight for long stretches at times which just felt odd. This too isn't anywhere near his best films either. Last and certainly not least is Pierce Brosnan playing the Big Bad. Overall, as I said, decent flick. Worth a Rent at best.
