This looks horrible! When I first heard about this back when they announced production, I knew it was gonna suck. But having just watched the trailer, it sucks worse than anything I could have imagined. This has NOTHING to do with the TV series. I do believe I caught a blink-and-you'll-miss-cameo from Holly Robinson. But that's it. There were rumors that Johnny Depp would make a cameo. There is no way he would lend his image to this if he read the script.

I stand corrected. Why Johnny? Why? Oh brother! (http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i266/Chiprocks1/Smilies/0%20All%20Smilies/facepalm_anim_test-03.gif)

21 Jumpstreet Review (Totally Rad Show)

I had very low expectations for this one. But I caught TRS review of this a few weeks back and they SOLD me on it to the point that I now HAVE to see this. It's just not TRS blessing of this movie either. I hear nothing but great things from a lot of different sources that this is definitely a funny movie. Will definitely check it out on DVD when it drops.

Maybe Depp knew all along............

Rottentomatoes (http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/21-jump-street-2011/) is getting excellent high scores both from viewers and critics. To me that is usually a sign something is working.

I have zero invested in it. Never watched the show so nothing to judge against. Just entertain me.

The original series was a very serious type of show that dealt in a lot of things like drugs, gangs, date **** and a very memorable episode around AIDS of all things. So when the movie was announced as being a straight up comedy, it rubbed me the wrong way. I was very critical because I wanted the movie to be in line with what I had grown up with. But, different times dictate different things I guess. Anyway, I can't wait to check out the movie for myself.

I am hearing the same kind of thing about Dark Shadows. People want to see it because it is nothing like the show they remember.

I guess looking back, that works sometimes. The reimagining of Batman comes to mind. It work twice, in very different ways. Batman by Tm Burton and the Dark Knight by Chris Nolan.
And you have your stinkers like the Green Hornet. Must be a helluva gamble, eh.
