Padres prospect Donavan Tate suspended for drugs (http://hardballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/06/28/padres-prospect-donovan-tate-suspended-for-drugs/)
You **** piece of ****. Now what am I gonna do with all those Donvan Tate Bobbleheads and Action figures I made? >:( God, the Padres can't pick worth **** in the draft.

Half the season is almost over. What better way to celebrate that then with the Padres getting their first 3 game sweep. Sheesh. ;)

1936 Throwback Uniform
(http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i266/Chiprocks1/Sports/Padres/AR.jpg)
Reading this mornings Sports Section in SDUT, it appears the Padres FO will be looking to FINALLY change the team uniform. The good news is that it will fall in line with the 1936 Throwback uni's.
Awesome!!! Make it happen!!! :) My first choice of course would be the '84 Jersey's.

Hahahahahahaha. Cameron Maybin draws a 3-Ball walk which turned out to be a HUGE deal given the fact that from that walk he scored the only run of the game as the Padres won 1-0.
Boo-ya!! ;D

Nolan Ryan News Conference
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EE3KjENH-jU
Man, this sucks. This is the 2nd time inside of a full calender year that this has happened at Arlington Stadium, 4th overall. I don't think that place is safe at all, in spite of what Nolan Ryan says. Sheesh!!

Watching the Padres/Marlins game and the collision of Orlando Hudson was nasty. Sad to see him carted off the field like that. I hope it's just precaution more than anything else. :(

Nicasio exits on stretcher as Rox fall short (http://colorado.rockies.mlb.com/mlb/gameday/index.jsp?gid=2011_08_05_wasmlb_colmlb_1&mode=recap&c_id=col)
Juan Nicasio gets drilled in the head by a line drive off the bat of Ian Desmond. This of course triggered a flashback to when Chris Young suffered the same fate off an Albert Pujols line drive.
*Shudders*
I hope Juan will be able to shake this off and get back on the playing field and continue with Baseball ASAP.

Jim Thome Join The 600 Club (http://minnesota.twins.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20110815&content_id=23251446&vkey=news_min&c_id=min)
Man, I sure would like to see Jim stick around for another 4-5 years and claim the #1 spot on the home run list. Nothing would make me happier to have anyone other than Barry Bonds with this record. It would be the best thing to happen to Baseball in a long time by getting rid of his tainted record. Also, I know it would **** Bonds off to know end which will make me berry berry happy. ;D

Trevor Hoffman Day (Retiring #51)
The Padres season as a whole has been a disaster and sucked big time this year, but today the organization did themselves proud in the way they retired Trevor Hoffman's number (#51). It was awesome from start to finish. About an hour overall. The best part of course was when they brought out former Padre players. Some were expected and some were totally surprising to see: Chris Young and Steve Finley.
But when they trotted out the other 4 Padre players (Tony Gwynn, Dave Winfield, Randy Jones and Steve Garvey in their respective Jersey's) who's numbers were already retired, from center field as they walked toward Trevor, it was hair-raising goodness. Another what the f*uck moment was when they showed former players, coaches and the commisioner on the Jumbo Tron congratulating Trevor on this special day, the best was getting a shout out from Brian Johnson of AC/DC. Waaaaaaaaay cool. Even Trevor was completely shocked at this, as everyone else was in Petco Park.
The organization then gave Trevor a Mint condition 1953 Cadillac convertible. That was dope. But the best part of the entire ceremony was when they played a video of his Father, Ed, singing the National Anthem at a Red Sox/White Sox game on opening day back in 1981 up on the Jumbo Tron. Chills.

Basically that's what I came on this topic for, I ran into Deck there and like a bunch of people anyhow, back to the subject of which I went.....
For the National Anthem.. they used a recording of Trevor's dad singing the national anthem back in 1995... I literally think every man in that stadium cried just a little.... it was so touching...!
Did anyone else go today??

Hey, I'll be the first to admit that I got choked up watching it. It was awesome. And the look on the Brother Hoffman's said it all. Wow.

LOL, thank you much appreciated.. did you catch the ceremony on tv??

I watched it both times. Taped it the second time they played it. It was too good not to save this one.
-
did they show the anthem on it??
-
did they show the anthem on it??
Yep. They showed a wide shot with everyone watching the Jumbo Tron, and then they kept cutting from the video itself, back to Trevor and family, back to video, etc....
-
I was like.. who the **** came up with that idea? it was touching but I would have had a mental breakdown if my dad died and then at my retirement ceremony they play a video of him singing at my ballgame in a stadium.. I would just melt...!
touching but if my dad's voice was surrounding me like that.. I would be balling like a baby in the fetal position
-
Trevor's Mom seemed to be getting a huge kick out of it. Where Trevor and his brothers were balling their eyes out, she was smiling. She was happy and did a better job of keeping it together. :) Even one of Trevor's boys was crying.
-
I know its exactly that.. it was her husband which would make me happy to see my husband too like that but.. my dad...
no not a chance id be balling... he wasnt my dad and I was crying

thanks for posting that pic!

I do have issue with Steve Garvey being at any and all Padre functions, only because whenever he is being interviewed on camera or on radio outside of San Diego, he professes to be a Dodger through and through. I will forever hold his game winning home run as the single greatest hit in Padre history, but he rubs me the wrong way.

yes but u cant hate him too much on account of that... i mean if u ask hoffman he'd say padre though he didnt spend his entire career with us

The difference is that Hoffy doesn't go around saying he is a Marlin or a Brewer through and through. I just find it a bit laughable that Garvey builds up the Dodgers as much as he does, but they still refuse to retire his number. It's all about disrespecting the only team that actually did retire his number.
Having said that, I'm watching THE home run right now. ;D (http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i266/Chiprocks1/Smilies/0%20All%20Smilies/notworthy.gif)

Yankees Set MLB Record With 3 Slams In One Game (http://newyork.yankees.mlb.com/mlb/gameday/index.jsp?gid=2011_08_25_oakmlb_nyamlb_1&mode=recap&c_id=nyy)
Look, I hate the Yankees just as much as the next guy. And trust me, I hate them with a passion. But I gotta give it up for Robinson Cano, Curtis Granderson and Russell Martin for pulling off the ultimate hat trick. Wow. (http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i266/Chiprocks1/Smilies/0%20All%20Smilies/HTL_jaw-dropping.gif)
PS
I still hate the Yankees. ;D

3-16 over the last 19 games. No wonder I haven't heard so much as a peep about the Padres. It's embarrassing.
I blame A-Gon for this. (http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i266/Chiprocks1/Smilies/0%20All%20Smilies/HTL_mad.gif)

I dont know as if I've even looked at a score in the last 2 or 3 weeks. playoffs are coming up thats when I'll start paying attention again.
-
The ironic thing is that I hate the Red Sox, but now have reason to pull for them to get to the post season and whup the Yankees anyway they can. You can thank A-Gon for me jumping ship like a ho on Friday night.
