When I first got the idea for doing The Concert Venue Threads, it was KISS as the driving force behind it. I was kind of surprised at the lack of full concerts to be found anywhere on YouTube. Lack as in nothing. Well, after digging deeper and deeper, I finally found this one, which took place on The KISS KRUISE (http://www.thekisskruise.com/), which was held on October 13-17, 2011. As for the show, I'm unclear on which day this took place on. Maybe they only performed on stage, in make-up and all the trimmings on the last day, which seems most likely.

I do know that they also did an unplugged set on the deck of the ship (without make-up) for the fans, which I will post in due time. As for KISS - KISS KRUISE (Live On The Carnival  - 2011), I will save it for when I start work in a little bit.

This show was way better than I thought it would be. I'm guessing that this is a Cell Camera that video taped the entire concert. And for a Cell Cam "production" it sounds pretty good and the video doesn't suffer from that dreaded "shaky camera" syndrome that plagues most. As for the Set List, it's pretty interesting. Not in what's in the Set List, but what is not. No Detroit Rock City? Do You Love Me? Love Gun? These are pretty big omissions. I'm surprised those got the axe in favor of more obscure songs. All in all a good show and one I can see myself coming back to again.

"Rock and Roll All Nite", "New York Groove", "Deuce", "Calling Dr. Love", "Love Gun"
This is as flawless a recorded concert can get. Everything from video production to audio was perfect. And all the credit has to go to MTV and its crew for putting it together. This is what I like to see in a concert film. Too bad it's only 5 songs long.

The above quote is the review for the DVD version of the same concert. Although you can't tell by watching the YouTube link, the video on the Kissology set is near Hi Def quality. It's amazing and one of the best produced KISS shows I've seen on video anywhere. The rating for the YouTube link still gets a 5 Star rating. Although it's only 5 songs long, I come away from it very satisfied. You can check out the original review and more here...

I guess I can now cross off from my Holy Grail KISS concerts (http://pennycan.createaforum.com/music/kiss-(the-replacement-lineup)-discography/msg3971/#msg3971) list, the Asylum Tour. Wheeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!! I'm gonna watch this in a bit when I settle down to work.

It was really cool to revisit the Asylum Tour again. I can't believe it's been that long since I saw the tour in person. Sheesh! This is what you call a true bootleg in every sense of the word. Not a pro-shot production here. Some kid snuck one of those big fat VHS Camcorders in and captured the entire concert in one take. The camera's back then were shoulder-mounted, so I can't figure out how he/she never got caught by an ticket usher or two.

The audio was satisfactory and the video was what you would expect. The only negative here would be the zooming in and outs, but for the most part, he/she kept a steady hand for the duration of the show. The Set List was memorable because it doesn't follow the typical KISS order. Rock And Roll All Nite in the middle of the set? Lick It Up to close out the show? You just don't see that from KISS...ever. Also cool to see the band tackle a cover version of The Who's Won't Get Fooled Again.

Eric Carr tripping on stage when coming out for the encore was memorable and once in a lifetime shot to catch it on tape. Ya had to be in the right place at the right time for sure.

KISS - Destroyer Tour (Live from Anaheim, CA - August 20th, 1976)

Although the band was a year away from what is arguably the best Stage show during the Love Gun Tour, the Destroyer Tour was no slouch. This has a killer Set List from top to bottom. One thing I noticed was that Ace's extended solo that comes at the end of Cold Gin is way different from what would become his signature spotlight piece. For the last 30 years, even on his solo ventures, the solo itself is very recognizable along with the choreography that accompanies it. But on this tour, he was still putting the solo together and hadn't found the parts yet. Still enjoyable, but it seems so out of place now. The rest of the show was just kick ass too. This is a very rare bootleg, so the audio is adequate, but the video is very washed out. It's in "color" but doesn't resemble color that you and I know and want it to be.

KISS / Mötley Crüe Tour

This was just announced for the first leg of the North American Tour in support of the forthcoming album by KISS called Monster. Not sure what Crüe will be supporting as I haven't heard anything about new material coming our way from them. Hopefully this tour makes it's way here because I will be going to see the show more for Crüe than KISS. I've already seen KISS 7 times. But then again, 8 is a nice number too. Thanks to Boyinblack for the heads up. This Double Bill for this Tour looks to be very promising. I actually think this is a better line up than the KISS / Aerosmith Tour a few years back.

I'll be a Mack Daddy out in the parking lot with some Leather-clad hottie. That will kill some time after the concert to let the rest of the crowd time to get on home. I suggest you bring a Gameboy or a PSVita or something to keep busy while I'm getting busy. (http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i266/Chiprocks1/Smilies/0%20All%20Smilies/DevilLaughing.gif) I will of course be blasting "Ladies Room" on the Boom Box during this time.

I'm not surprise that KISS found their way onto Jimmy Kimmel last night to announce the upcoming Tour. Gene is nothing if not a Promoter. Hey, Paul is wearing a much smaller wig this year. Budget cuts? (http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i266/Chiprocks1/Smilies/0%20All%20Smilies/new_tongue.gif)

I'm glad that Gene isn't wearing that hideous costume that he has worn the last few years. It was horrible. I like this new one since it has elements of his Destroyer costume and digging those T-Rex Teeth he added on the shoulder pads, arms and legs. I'm guessing they are T-Rex Teeth. Paul's costume is kind of a throw back to vintage stuff as well. Certainly better than what he had been wearing. Tommy's is still the same from what I can tell and I have no idea what Eric was wearing since he was behind the kit with no close up's.

The show was just ok for me. It seemed like they were sleepwalking through most of it and I didn't particularly like the order of the Set List. They added a couple of different songs and they mixed it up. I am accustomed to a certain order now that I have watched countless KISS concerts over the years. Not a bad show, but certainly not even close to being near the best show they've put on.

This is a segment that is for audience only, but they tape the entire thing and post online. Never on TV. What you see is just the one song (maybe two) of the big stars that come on to perform. There are quite a few mini concerts done this way.

cool set list....was funny seeing Paul keep going....this is off our first album.

I know he says that he can't remember what album songs come off of...so besides messing up the song order...him not knowing which album Got To Choose was off of was cool.

Eric kinda sucked on the big drum fills for the Who song I have to say...that was his big moment to shine and it wasn't very good.

Set List was okay, I had issues with the audio in some of the spots. Got To Choose is off The Elder. Duh. I will say that no matter who is in the band, I do like these intimate settings. You get a different vibe, even if Gene and Paul are going all out.

I like how you can really hear Ace singing backing vocals on Radioactive...especially the first 2 or 3 Choruses.

so this is the original line up right they were still together until 1980-ish?

so this is the original line up right they were still together until 1980-ish?

Last tour with the original four. Peter would soon be fired for Meowin' too much. Ace would pretend to make The Elder the following year. And Vinnie was experimenting with dressing up in Women's clothes the same year. Boyinblack would come up with the name Hatehead while doing laundry the following year at an all boys school. So much stuff went down...........

I like Peter got fired for Meowin' too much

I wonder how much these guys annoyed each other at this point?

still credit to them.  They are one of the few bands where these FULL show rehearsals pop up...so even at the end of this run, I'd still consider them very hard workers.

going for round 2 of that 1979 rehearsal.  I liked it.

what's funny if you read the posts and some people talk **** about it.

for a rehearsal it's really cool...people are too dang stuck up about stuff.

they need to take a chill pill and relax.

just like Ace and Peter.

do you think they knew at this point Ace's solo album was the best seller...or was getting the best reviews?

I would think the solo records were out.

also.

I have to say New York Groove might be the most timeless song of the entire set.  It feels totally fresh and exciting with a LOT more life than any of the other tracks.

I was made for loving you probably has the worst melody ever.  Honestly that song almost sounds out of tune when IN tune.  I am not saying that because of what it signified for the band or that it has some disco elements.  I am saying they have NO margin for error on that song...it either sounds perfect or horrible and totally out of key.

New York Groove is Ace's best song. Period. I love Shock Me and Rocket Ride. But there is something about Groove that is just EPIC. But I do think that 2,000 Man is pretty damn close too.

I was telling Chip I had a bit of a mini KISS-mas myself this year.

I got the KISS Pez dispencer, the KISS Destroyer re-issue on vinyl, I got this really cool Gene Simmons mecha Godzilla type toy...sort of him as a huge Japanese robot, and I got the little lego figures, and then a book on KISS/

so it was a bit of a KISS frenzy this year.

and as Chip knows I scored 7 of my old KISS magazines back from a good friend, who I'd sold them to probably in the early 80's.  ALL the magazines were ones I'd bought in 1977 and are in excellent shape considering we were both little kids at the time.

so MERRY KISS-mas (this message has been pre-approved by Gene Simmons)

;)

I really was banking on the Zeppelin stuff...I kept looking for anything that shape...DVD or vinyl....I saw the destroyer record and had always thought that would be the new Soundgarden which even though I wasn't crazy about listening to it streaming on itunes I did really want the record to give it a proper chance....but yeah I was like...ah no....no Zeppelin...I couldn't wait to watch the concert....and the bonus DVD sounds totally insane.

so I've got like 5 or 6 things I need to save up for now...

really gotta watch my money though....the beginning of this year is feeling tight/

Well, I have dedicated Folders on my YouTube account which I save into and then I can pull them up via Roku and watch them on Monster screen. Sounds better too. I'm not 100% positive, but I remember reading that you can create Private Playlist on YouTube that you can invite friends or whoever to watch, but the public has no idea about them even existing. So, if that's the case, in theory, you can just re-upload all your concerts back into your account, mark it as Private and have them there till the end of time.....or until Gene finds out of course.
Title: Re: KISS Live
Post by: boyinblack80 on January 10, 2013, 05:09:53 pm

would be kinda cool.

Kinda cool for Gene to basically put his bass within arms reach for the fans to reach up and grab picks. But if he were really smart, he would tape a bunch of picks to his dick and do the same thing, ensuring a helping hand or two from the hot chicks in the front row.

KISS (Live Quebec 1984 - Lick It Up World Tour)

This is actually a pretty solid show in spite of the bad quality of the tape this is on. Beggars can't be choosers, especially given how rare a Full Concert of the Lick It Up Tour is. It's very hard to come by and personally, I've only been able to find "segments" of the tour, but never a full show like this one. The Set List is pretty sweet to with a lot of songs coming from the Creatures Of The Night and Lick It Up albums, 9 songs between the two. That's epic. Usually a KISS album would have 2, maybe 3 songs at the most. Never 9. Definitely a keeper here. I give this 4 Stars out of 5, only because of the sound and video quality isn't what I would say is the best. Also, some tape drops throughout the show, the biggest offender being one that omitted pretty much the entire drum solo by Eric Carr. Grrrr!

Yes, the vintage-looking Neal Schon look-alike is Paul's son. He needs to hook up with Nick, Sophie and Monique and start up KISS Jr. They need to start prepping for world domination once they officially step into the Platforms of their father. Very impressed with Evan's playing ability for sure.Props to BoyinPink for finding this.

Really not sure where to post this. This isn't a 'Live' performance in the sense they are playing the song, but it is on stage in front of a crowd....kinda. it's good.  I am always working when it's on...so some of it I miss or really am not hearing anyway....so sometimes the multiple listens help it sink in for me.

like I said, I don't dump my cookies anymore...so when I save the clips I can sort of tell what I might have downloaded or not....so it helps even though that's not really why I don't dump my cache.

KISS Kruise III (http://www.pollstar.com/news_article.aspx?ID=803827)

They just announced KISS Kruise III, which departs port October 28, 2013. That's a long ways off. Gives me plenty of time to recycle as many bottle and cans as I possible can. Might even make a big enough dent to actually order the 'Ham Sandwich from the Vending machine' across the street from the Marina, because that's as close as I'm gonna get. Ack! $750 is actually pretty reasonable for what you are getting from the Kruise. I figured it would be $3k minimum.

nah what happened was the Mic cut out and Gene was reacting to the **** up...you can clearly hear Peter going ballistic after the song saying " I sing one **** song and the **** things cuts out,"

Ace or Gene then says the vocals were only cut out through the PA.

Not really sure Gene was upset with Peter...I think he was more feeling his pain and probably pissed just in general about the lack of professionalism with the equipment.

great clip regardless...internet gold

KISS - Live At The Summit - Love Gun Tour '77
(http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i266/Chiprocks1/Star%20Ratings/HTL_05star.gif)

Watched this last night. It's been awhile since checking out the Summit show. What I love about this one in particular, beyond the Set List of course, is that it's shot entirely on Film as oppose to Video. don't get me wrong, I love video, especially that of Hi-Def. But there is something serene about watching a Full Concert of KISS on Film, especially after being bombared with nothing but HD Shows. This one is softer of course and I think therein lies the appeal of film for me. Also, it's edited in a way that is inviting, rather than off-putting. Oh, and the Set List KICKS ASS!!

I'm probably gonna spin this up again right now. Need more rockin'!!

The Fate of KISS:

was thinking about this, this morning.

Who do you think will be the next to bow out of KISS?  And will there in fact be a KISS when Gene and Paul decide to leave.

I think the best way to approach this is this:

Who would leave the band first, or do Gene and Paul step down simultaneously...and then will their ego's in fact let the band continue without them.

I personally think NOT.

I can't see Gene or Paul really being comfortable being replaced in the band...even collecting checks from the shows etc.  And would KISS in fact have legs with them out of the band.

I just see them both stepping down and that kind of being it....both are in their 60's now....I am not sure without help how much longer Paul can sing live (although it would be interesting if he started lip synching and maybe even having Eric sing MORE parts than he already does live.

so thoughts Mr. Chip?

and don't give me some 2 word reply...you have to have thought about this....will Gene and Paul ever leave the band and actually let someone replace them?
Title: Re: KISS Live
Post by: Chiprocks1 on February 18, 2013, 01:25:23 pm
Go to hell!

There, that's 3 words!

Gene and Paul have said that no individual is bigger than the band, including themselves. Sure, they were really talking about Peter and Ace and that was their way of justifying replacing them and continuing on. Gene in recent years has said that he would like to see the band continue on without him and Paul once it comes time to hang it up. Now I don't know if he was serious when he said that, but knowing Gene, if there is a way to make a buck, he would absolutely be down for this. Paul on the other hand would not be. He may have "agreed" to this idea, but I think it was only to placate Gene's ego so as not to upset the apple cart, especially during this rebirth of KISS.

Why wouldn't Paul be down for this? Well, I think that securing his legacy is a big issue with him, even if he has never gone on record as saying as much. He is the consummate showman and I think having some other 'wannbe' preening and strutting as his "official" replacement just would NOT sit well with him. Gene on the other hand would just cash his checks and be content.

But when it comes down to it, when that moment finally arrives where they have to make a decision, I do believe that they would wise up, say their goodbyes and close up shop permanently once and for all.

Fast forward 2 months as Gene and Paul announce the 'One Mo Time Tour' with Peter and Ace back in the band. Whichever way they choose to end it, it will involve both Peter and Ace for one last show, if not a complete Tour. I'm guessing that it will be a series of shows at MSG.

Okay, that was more than 3 words. Choke on my manifesto!
Title: Re: KISS Live
Post by: boyinblack80 on February 18, 2013, 01:52:43 pm
wow great answer and something I'd not considered about Paul, but I think the reasons you mentioned are spot on....I didn't think in terms of him trying to cement his status with Robert Plant, and Mick Jagger, etc...having a new guy come in...totally makes what he did just seem like what he's fought nearly his entire career was that KISS was about the music, it was about the look or commercial sales figures.

good call Mr Chip...excellent summation!!

and if you are right about a final show with the original members (ala Led Zeppelin Celebration Day minus one) that would be really **** cool.

I really wonder if something like that could happen...I'd guess the odds for that are like 10% at best.

I'd love to see it though

:)

think they will play Stairway??

;)

I'm not 100% convinced that the audio we are hearing is from the actual show because there are a few spots where it's out of sync to the video. Having said that, this is gold. The band is so young in this one they are still wearing diapers, bibs and playing with rattles. Awesome stuff!

Title: Re: KISS Live

could be either or...there's a lot of old Zeppelin that looks and sounds that way....it might be different audio....super 8 I don't think taped anything more than video....so it could be a bootleg from that same show of the audio matched up as best as they could.

not sure/

The audio is actually taken direct from the 2012 Tour. Yes, that's Singer and Thayer in the background, playing over the video with Peter and Ace. (http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i266/Chiprocks1/Smilies/0%20All%20Smilies/new_tongue.gif)

hahahahaha

you know what I mean.  There's a ton of audio bootlegs from the 70's...and many times two totally different people will bootleg a show...there's a chance the show was both video taped and audio taped by two different people.

I have Led Zepplelin shows with 8 different sources believe it or not....same show...but that many people have now famous bootleg versions of it...some sound better etc.

Paul's voice is officially gone

Yes, as bad as Paul's voice has been getting the last few years, I would still prefer Paul's shaky voice over Joe Elliot's any day of the week. Now THAT's a voice that needs to retire.

So, revisiting a topic you brought up a couple of weeks ago about future "Replacements" for Paul and Gene. How long do you think KISS will be around? With Paul's voice declining and Gene getting bigger.....fatter, how much further can they conceivably take the band? Personally, I'd be surprised if they lasted another 5 years. But then again, they have proven all detractor's wrong over the years. So, who knows.

well KISS vs Def Leppard, I don't really get the point overall other than you think both singers are past their prime live..it's two different bands...I haven't listened to Def Leppard live in probably 25 years.  I'd go back and maybe listen to anything from 1987 or before....but after that...I don't really care.

Kiss I do care about....and Paul is in big trouble.

I'd give him live maybe 2 years tops.  Unless something can be done with at his age and the amount of time he's been singing...I am not sure what can be done.  I hope it can be fixed....but I think once the chords are damaged...it's sort of over, especially if they've been repaired which I do believe Paul has had done.

they are basically two thin pieces of fiber about the size of a piece of twine....or fishing line...and they have NO nerves in them.  You cannot feel when you "hurt" your vocal chords...because they don't feel anything even when they are perfect and new....so a sore throat, has NOTHING to do with your vocal chords.

anyway....Paul is in very bad shape...expect shows to get cancelled if he doesn't take a break./

For a bootleg of any KISS show, this sounds pretty damn good to what is out there right now. It's easy to listen too and haven't heard hardly any glitches so far. But visually this is a hard one to sit through and watch with all the Zooming in and out throughout the show. I get that the guy operating the camera wants to get as many closeups as possible, but it doesn't make it any easier to digest. With that said, there is something very appealing watching a KISS show Top-Down from the nosebleed section of the arena. How many times can you say that you've watched a KISS show like that? Usually it's floor seats, looking up.

I went to this show. To say I was disappointed is an understatement. I ended up going to see them again in Vegas about a month or so later and that show was 1000% better. It's still pretty cool to see this show posted, even if it wasn't one of my personal fave KISS shows. I'm gonna watch this and see if the show was as bad as I remembered it to be. All I remember were a lot of technical problems, uninspired playing as well as sloppy playing too.

Calling Dr. Love.........

There's been a couple of glitchy spots so far, but the show is much better than I remember it being which is a nice surprise for me. The one thing I will say about this particular video is that I absolutely LOVE the drum sound. Why? It's vintage Sports Arena Reverb. You know when you duck out to get something to drink or get food and the show is still going on and you have the classic Reverb sound snaking it's way into the outside as you waiting in line? Awesome!!

Love Gun. Paul heads out into the crowd to play. I was about 20 feet from his mini stage. So, here I am trying to find myself in a darken Arena. Ack!! I think I saw my shoe. Close enough.

KISS (Live In San Diego 3/19/2000 - Farewell Tour)

The show wasn't as bad as I remembered it, but there were still a few spots that did make me cringe a bit. But overall, it was a pretty solid show, but certainly not one of their best. I think the reason why I was so harsh on the show that night had a lot to do with comparing it to the Reunion Tour a few years earlier, which to me is the best KISS concert I've been to. One thing I am grateful for is that this particular San Diego show even exist on video. It's pretty cool to be able to look back on it and say 'I was there". The guy(s) that put the video together with all the edits did a great job as well. As I mentioned before, love the drum sound for this one.

One of the major draws for me seeing them on the Farewell Tour, besides it being the last with the original lineup was to get the chance to see/hear Peter Criss and Ace Frehley playing on KISS songs they had no association with. So, getting to see them performing I Love It Loud, Lick It Up and Heaven's On Fire was and is still pretty damn cool, 13 years later. The one song that I really wanted to hear that night was of course Tears Are Falling. I wanted to see what Ace would and could have done with that song.

KISS - Do You Love Me - Virginia Beach 2000 - Farewell Tour

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2_NnIh2qFqg

You know, it's been great getting all of these KISS bootlegs being uploaded on YouTube the past few weeks, but there is one aspect that has been very disappointing to me. In all of the Farewell Tour Bootlegs, not one of the uploads contains any shots of the JumboTron during Do You Love Me. It's this one moment that I look forward to the most in every new concert I watch and I come away kinda p*ssed off that another one goes down in flames because their is no shot. Anyway, I'm posting this particular clip up again just so that I can watch the KISS montage which STILL gives me chills. It's f*cking AWESOME! Watch and be happy!!

KISS (Live In Detroit 1/25/1976 - Alive Tour)

Holy crap. Had this concert been released to the public at large back in 1976, I absolutely would have gone apesh*t for it. This is vintage KISS and very rare. The music is in your face. No reverb or EQ of any kind (for the most part anyway). A close representation of what the band sounded like at the time. It's not perfect and there are some pretty bad spots (sloppy playing), but you can't deny how much fun they are having. And speaking of fun, Peter Criss is beating the living sh*t out of his drums like his life depends on it. It's like he was making a statement here. It's sad that over the years, he did loose a lot in his technique and drive if you will. But here, he is on top of his game. Awesome show.

Hey, why does Paul want to know if I get high? Is he a narc? He gonna rat me out? (http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i266/Chiprocks1/Smilies/0%20All%20Smilies/rimshot.gif)

A little background on this Las Vegas Show I just posted. I went to this show because of the bad taste their Farewell Show back in San Diego left. I didn't want that show to be the swan song for me with the original line up and I swore that if they came back around close enough, I would go see them and hope they could put on a better show. Well, Vegas was as close as they would get, so I made the decision to go to the show. I left SD around 12:00pm in the afternoon, drove like a bat out of hell and arrived at the Mandalay Bay around 6:30pm. Yup, that's how fast I drove.

I had an hour to kill and hung out poolside with some other friends from work who were also there to see KISS. Anyway, for me, this show was worlds better than the SD show and I was glad that I went. Now, in retrospect, I did revisit the San Diego Show and it wasn't as bad as it was that night. Ironically enough, out of all the shows that have been uploaded by SpacemanaceLive on YouTube, the San Diego show is the best of the bunch. Go figure. Now, I haven't had a chance to check the Vegas show out yet. Gonna do that now. I'm curious to see if this show lives up to what I remember that night to be. I hope the audio on the video doesn't suck.

One fun fact about attending the Vegas show, I had a few drinks that night and during the show, I called 5 people that I knew. Funny enough, during Ace's Guitar Solo, I called Boyinblack so that he could experience his Solo "live". Needless to say, he thought I was full of sh*t and said I was playing KISS Alive in the background. Hahahahahah. Bite me!!!!!! It was live motherf*cker! One song in (Detroit Rock City) and the audio is f*cking awesome! Can't say the same about the video. The guy that's filming it is all over the place, clearly trying to keep the camera concealed. Beggars can't be choosers.

KISS (Live In Las Vegas 8/2/2000 -  Farewell Tour)

My rating is based strictly on the Bootleg copy of the show and not the performance. As far as audio goes, it's definitely one of the better sounding KISS shows. Just the right amount of bass and no high squeal glitches and whatnot. I think it does bode well that the bootlegger was using an actual Video camera to capture the show. Had this been a few years later, this would have been on a Cell Cam and it would have definitely sounded like one. So, the audio here gets an A, but the visual portion of this bootleg is at times downright horrible and anyone that has trouble with motion sickness is best to stay away. There is so much movement throughout the show that it really is a huge problem. You can't sit down to watch this and enjoy it. This one is best left as something to listen to while you work.

With the said, the band was firing on all cylinders and they sounded great that night. The biggest thing about the Vegas show and the San Diego show is that there was an electric energy coursing through Mandalay Bay, whereas the San Diego show really didn't have it that night. Don't be fooled by the bootleg copy of the SD show. Yes, it sounds amazing and it's THE best sounding KISS bootleg show I've come across, it's just that the crowd that night was not as rowdy as Vegas was. Anyway, this video gets 3 1/2 Stars out of 5.

I feel like I went to a KISS show last night because I didn't go to bed till around 2 am and the entire time I was "sleeping", the show and the music was still playing in my head. And then when I went for my walk this morning, I was still humming songs (Strutter anyone?). I also feel punch drunk from lack of sleep, just like that night when I came home from Vegas immediately after the show. Crazy.

I got lucky...for some reason my dad bought he and I tickets.  what's funny is I still remember what the tickets looked like because they were in his room for a few weeks before the concert.

they were blue and have the KISS logo but done with glitter...so you could actually feel  the texture of the glitter on their logo.

very cool and not all the tickets for that tour were made like that.  I went to e bay a few weeks back and was looking to see if anyone had Dynasty tickets for sale...most weren't as nice as the SD tickets were.

My KISS Ticket from the Animalize show and Van Halen from the 1984 show have embossed print for the band names on them which makes the tickets for me all the more better. Now days....actually going back the past 25 years if not longer is just generic garbage. Throwaways. Which I don't actually throwaway mind you. But you get what I'm getting at. I still keep all Show Tickets in my little pile.

I actually looked for the Ticket from the Vegas Show but I couldn't find it within my pile. It's most likely sandwiched inside the Farewell Tourbook.

I sent him a request about an hour ago asking if he has any other San Diego Shows sitting in his 'Vault'. I want the Animalize, Asylum, Hot In The Shade and Reunion shows personally. I also sent request for the Dynasty show as well. Might not hurt if you throw your hat into the ring and make similar plea. If there is a demand for it, he may feel obligated to upload those faster if he has them. I did make similar request for Ace's shows a few months ago and he came through big time for me. So, he does listen to those that subscribe to his channel.

As for Ace, I knew it was his last show as he had made his intentions clear that he was leaving.

KISS (Live In Richmond 6/6/2000 - Farewell Tour)

Damn good show and I'm glad that whoever filmed this was stuck near the back of the arena right smack in the center because this afforded him / her the opportunity to get some wide shots of the show to go along with closeups of each band member. One interesting thing about this show in particular came during Love Gun. Normally Paul rides out to the mini stage to perform the song and during Ace's guitar solo, this is when Paul rides back to the main stage. He didn't do that this time. He actually stays on the stage for the entire song and then plays a portion of I Still Love You before launching into the intro for Black Diamond. I've never seen him do this before. He never did this at the shows (Reunion and both Farewell Tours) that I saw live.

Anyway, great show. Sounds great and looked really cool, especially the wide shots of the stage and band. This is a keeper.

This show is quite possibly the greatest KISS concert in this thread. It's a Pro Shot show which I mentioned earlier and that's why it looks and sounds amazing. For real, I don't get goosebumps all that much, but this show had the hair on my arms standing on end. Both Gene and Paul sounded awesome and Ace's guitar solo was impeccable. So smooth. Hell, even Peter's drum solo kicked ass! Song of the night goes to Do You Love Me and Gene has never sounded better than he does on Rock and Roll All Nite. Probably the last tour in which in actually sings the song the right way and as close to the album version as you're ever gonna get from him. This show easily 10 Stars!

This show is incomplete as it cuts off before the encore takes place. So, no Detroit Rock City, Beth and Rock and Roll All Nite. As for the rest of the show, sound-wise it's good, if not great. But the annoying thing about this one visually is that person in front of the camera guy keeps standing up or moving into frame. Ugh. There were times when I wanted to punch the guy. Also, the camera guy really didn't know what to focus on. He was all over the place and out of focus. I'd listen to the show again, but I wouldn't watch it as it's too distracting.

I've already posted this show earlier in this thread, but I wanted to point out that watching this while reading Nothin' to Lose (http://pennycan.createaforum.com/books/nothin'-to-lose-the-making-of-kiss-1972-1975-(2013)/msg23670/#msg23670) is a must. This particular show is one of my all time favorite KISS shows ever, but after reading the book, this one takes on another life of its own. Read the printed words in the book, but watch the words come to life while playing this video. Awesome.

Title: Re: KISS Live

what I like most about the show is it's not so worked out.  That is sort of the unfortunate aspect of any band getting better and better and doing more gigs...things become a formula and obviously KISS by 1974 had really worked out a fantastic set they could do in their sleep....I hear spontaneity and just so many neat things with this set and to be honest...the sound quality overall is fantastic for basically a club show when really no one knew what this was all going to turn out to be,

what a gem

going to listen to the full show in a bit on headphones.

!

KISS - Live At The Daisy - 1973
(http://i.imgur.com/cTZ9poD.gif)

I love the spontaneity of the show, but with that being said, I can't fault KISS for tightening up the show in what became their go-to Set List that is still pretty much what it is today. I love Peter's enthusiasm, but I'm glad that they (probably at Gene and Paul's insistence) cut Nothing To Lose and Black Diamond down to manageable size. Even by 'Live' standards, the songs were running a bit too long in this particular show. But that's just me being overly picky and doesn't negate what is an otherwise awesome find. As for having at least the 1st Set in it's entirety, this is kind of the new Holy Grail given that it's the earliest Live performance. Of course the next Holy Grail would be an 8mm film of the same show or earlier. I know that Gene and Paul have that sh*t in their 'Vault'. They are just waiting for the right time to cash in on it. As for the Daisy Show, very cool. Ironically my favorite song in the set is Life In The Woods. Who would have thought that huh?

The 2nd Set isn't quite as good quality-wise, but it's still a must-listen to. They could have recorded in bathroom and I wouldn't object to the poor audio. The 2nd Set is really just a bonus to the 1st Set and shouldn't really hamper the good times to be had. FYI, listen to the show with headphones on in pitch black room. It plays even better than you think.

I might convert this and throw it on my ipod tonight.  I have to work for about an hour...so I will have that going while I work...then when my wife goes to sleep and I take over the living room...I'll pop on the headphones and give it a spin.

now you referred to a second set...is that part of the 1 hour clip....or is that another upload?  I didn't get to hear the whole show...once my kid got home everything was kind of turned upside down here.

let me know

man this is so kick ass....Life in the Woods is crazy...it's like old Rush and KISS smashed together in a delicious milk shake.....I can't get over how good the recording is overall...Ace's tone is awesome...the vocals you can hear really well.

In Firehouse Ace is so over playing in a few spots and I love the sound Peter is making at the end....cow bell or something...

you ca also hear Ace's reverb snapping a lot in Life In The Woods.

do you keep a notebook too?

I don't but I am basically going to try and outline all my kiss stuff...I have nothing better to do...but it would be fun to at least do 1973-1982 or so......but maybe even go week by week etc...try and really nail down stuff.

would be tough but kind of like a forensic work based on everything that's online or in the different books.

I'd have images, and then video all by month etc for that whole time period. (audio too I guess...)  but you know try and see what all has been captured and then what stories go with what shows and months.

would be really neat to have something like that

just a silly dream...but I am sort of working towards that.  I'd really love to do KISS sculptures for each era....man that would be the **** ****.  The sculpt wouldn't be as hard as the paint job and I guess fabric etc...not sure how side show does there different statues...I think some (not just talking KISS here) but like rhinestones etc...would be kind of better than paint on these particular ones...and some paint that could mimic leather or different spandex and vinyl etc.

I don't have a 'notebook'. My folders outline everything I need to keep them in order. If I feel the need to add any additional information, I will just drop a 'rich document' into said folder. I found that using traditional paper notes always gets lost and is cumbersome anyway. You may jot down stuff in it, but I guarantee you, it's the last time anyone will look in it. Unless your ultimate goal is to write a traditional book that is.

Watching them perform She and it just dawned on me that this is the first and most likely the LAST time Gene ever played bass on his knees. He tries that now, he may NEVER get back up.  ;)

Had I been at that show (yes, me....still a baby), I would have done the exact same thing those kids did.......make a beeline for Peter's Bass and Snare Drum that flies toward the edge of the stage after destroying his kit. GIMME!!

I wish I could pull out the good stuff from it....I just can't stand the chorus and "whooo yeahs" ...and they do it like 3 times each in the song....I'll have to do an edit some day....or remove all the vocals...which to me ruin it except the verses...which are cool....still not a fan of it...there's a couple of live versions I like...but I try and just listen to the guitar

I seriously wish he would tone down the length of the 'wings'. His makeup is right in step with everything else about his costume. As the years wear on, the longer everything gets. He needs to go back to the Classic design from Year One.

KISS - Strutter (Live On Letterman/2012)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4q4RCnf1BmM

This of course is 2 years old and Paul's voice isn't getting any better. But watching this just now made me sad. I haven't seen this since it first came out. Completely forgot about this one. Very hard to listen to someone that isn't at the top of his game. Sometimes he sounds great and other times I'm left scratching my head wondering what he is doing in front of a mic. This one in particular, probably the worst version I've personally heard of Strutter. He sounds sick and hoarsed at the same time. I know there are probably even crappier versions out there, but this one is bad. He isn't even trying to hit the high notes and leaving it to the fans to sing his part. Ugh.

KISS (" ABC Fridays '82 ")

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wg63VRG9lDY

Set List

The Oath
A World Without Heroes
I

You know, I've seen these as single video clips dozens of times. I can't recall ever seeing this as one complete video clip of the entire show till now. Also, the other clips I've watched the audio wasn't the best and the drums weren't as loud as this one. If the video poster did add EQ to it to pump up the drums...BRAVO! Eric Carr sounds SICK! Love it! Sh*t man, Carr is a monster on The Oath and I. F*ck, I miss that dude big time! I was headbanging with the best of them listening to his drumming just now. The Elder for the win! At least they played the best songs from the album.

i usually dick around with youtube and some random stuff out in the living room at night...like I said, I get burnt hanging out in my office...so even though the browser on the PS3 isn't great...it's decent for only and plus it's on a nice big screen!

youtube actually looks pretty good on it now...it can do 720 and 1080...back a year or two ago...it's was really crappy.

Title: Re: KISS Live
Post by: Chiprocks1 on February 16, 2014, 10:47:25 pm
The sync problem is why I think the uploader EQ'd the Drums. He was messing with the audio and probably did something to the video by accident because I actually have the individual clips and they are in sync.

Title: Re: KISS Live
Post by: Chiprocks1 on February 17, 2014, 01:12:50 pm
I heard about the Valentine's Day show, but it never dawned on me to even check on YouTube to see if anyone has put it up. Nice find. Before I sat down to watch this, I looked at the Set List and it told me everything I needed to know about where Paul's voice was. Right away I knew that his voice would be in bad shape as the Set List is now catering to what Paul can and can't sing. Even though his voice wasn't as bad as his appearance on Letterman, it was still sad to see (and hear) a great voice on it's last leg. Even his on stage bantering was kind of hard to listen to. Sad to say, but the chick in the front row SCREAMING "Detroit Rock City" has a better voice than he does.

And what's up with Gene's makeup? I don't like or approve of him making the bat wings more angular and longer than his classic design. Why does everything have to be "longer" with him? Ack!!!! I'd give the show 3 stars out of 5. As for that Elder Shirt, I have no idea if it's legit or not. I bet you $1k I could go to Hot Topic and grab a shirt off the rack and put it on eBay and inflate the hell out of it and someone looking at the price will just assume it's vintage. Hey, this gives me a great idea!!!!!!!!!  ;) If that is a vintage shirt, no way is it worth $300.
Title: Re: KISS Live
Post by: boyinblack80 on February 17, 2014, 01:38:22 pm
I liked it a little better than you.

I think because Paul's voice has seemed so decimated (not counting KISS Kruises welcome aboard shows) but in terms of live full on make-up shows.....I thought he sounded decent....and like I could handle a full concert at that Kuality.

;)

If they do maybe 23 songs live...and Paul sang 8...I'd be fine with that....gene could do about 11...and then give the mic over to Tommy and Peter for 2-5 songs..would work for me.

Title: Re: KISS Live
Post by: boyinblack80 on February 17, 2014, 01:39:37 pm
I'd start feeling bad for old Gene having to do that much lead...it's a LOT of work keeping your voice in tip top shape touring...so much traveling and interviews etc...that's a lot of "stress" and use of the old chords and body/

Title: Re: KISS Live
Post by: boyinblack80 on February 17, 2014, 02:49:32 pm
I think what throws me...is it's always Tommy this and Tommy that....Eric and say Bruce are the two KISS members people can accept and don't talk about as much.

I personally think Peter in the 70's was a far more interesting and fun sounding drummer than Eric in 2013-2014...I don't dislike his drums but it's nothing that interesting either/
Title: Re: KISS Live
Post by: Chiprocks1 on February 17, 2014, 03:05:43 pm
Well, Singer gets a "pass" because he put in his time without dressing up in Peter's makeup. I also think that there are a lot of fans out there that are just going to continue to bash Tommy and assume that he always had eyes on Ace's spot, even if it isn't true. At the end of the day, the best drummer KISS ever had was the Drum Roadie that filled in for Peter one night....in FULL MAKEUP!  ;D I think it was during the Farewell Tour.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, the audio for this show is just f*cking sweet! It's raw and in your face and sounds better than most shows then and now. Cold Gin sounds dirty.....dirty good that is! How they were able to get the sound so full and clear, especially on a film 40 years old is incredible. KISS fans got lucky for sure.

no listening to the first album on LP.

sounds great although neither of my versions is a blue label...I think it was the first I went back to get...and I wasn't aware of all the serial numbers etc that go with different versions...I was looking for the highest grade version I could find at the best price.

just got done listening to side 1....man so f*cking great!~

it will be fun to watch some live stuff after I give this bad boy a few more spins....I might even wait to watch video stuff until tonight and just focus on the first 2 records or something for the day

the night video concert will sort of be the reward and will sort of be like going to see a show

man I sure wish they had that dam Amityville show on video...that would have been awesome!!!

KISS - Hard Luck Woman

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GUFuJQATLZA

Last night I kept playing this one on a loop. Peter's voice just sounds so damn good on the studio version of Hard Luck Woman.

KISS - Hard Luck Woman & Nothin' To Lose - L.A, 1995 (With Peter Criss)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b6E33ahJV14

But just listen to his rendition of the same song live and tell me he can't sing. Having not sung this in years and being put on the spot to nail it.....and he does exactly that. It's like he never went away. I also played this version a few times last night as well because it's so good.

Paul Stanley Sings The National Anthem at Dodger Stadium - Interview Included

I watched this a few days ago and I forgot to post it. Um, this was / is really bad. It is so bad that I was physically squirming in my chair. Maybe if it was 20 years ago he would and could have nailed it. Now.....not even close. It just makes me sad at how far gone his voice is. This performance isn't even on par with someone that has just started learning to sing.

yeah that might be true......KISS fans are crazy bastards...but they are driven...very driven!

supposedly there's hoarders that have more rare stuff and they trade in these inner circles...clearly he wants to break that up.
Title: Re: KISS Live
Post by: Chiprocks1 on March 07, 2014, 08:00:20 pm
Yeah, I'm very aware of KISS hoarders. It's not a very well kept secret. I know they want to leverage what they have for something they want for their "personal" archive. But I have never understood the need to keep some of this stuff locked away. It's not like they are going to sit and watch their magic clips every day for the next 30 years and brag about being the only one to have seen it. And if they do brag about it, then they lead a very sad and pathetic life. Even with all the stuff we have on YouTube, I'm still selective in what I choose to watch. Props to Spacemanacelive. If he is in fact Tommy, I am now fine with him wearing Ace's makeup and costume.

Okay, maybe not.  ;D

Kiss and Def Leppard Reportedly Teaming Up for Summer Tour

Quote
Def Leppard appears to be inching closer to confirming a tour with Kiss for summer 2014, though nothing is set in stone just yet.

Asked by TicketsThere about possible dates with Kiss and Poison, Leppard guitarist Vivian Campbell quipped: “I’d say you’d be half right there, but only half right and half wrong.”

Poison’s Bret Michaels mentioned a tour with Def Leppard while onstage last summer, according to the Kansas City Star; the two bands previously appeared together in 2012. Poison bassist Bobby Dall then hinted at joint dates with Def Leppard and Kiss this summer during a February interview at NAMM. However last week drummer Rikki Rockett said Poison would not be touring this summer, while laying the blame on a bandmate he chose not to identify.

All of this will be sorted out very soon, Campbell says: “There will be an announcement of our tour imminently, we’re talking a matter of days. It has to be announced, because we’re almost at summertime.”

Def Leppard did not mount a major tour last summer following its well-received ‘Viva! Hysteria’ residency in March and April at Las Vegas, playing only a handful of North American dates. The band will return to Vegas later in 2014, this time to focus on ‘Pyromania.’

Campbell, who rose to fame with Dio before joining Def Leppard in the early ’90s, did say that a tour into Europe seems unlikely this year – though he left open the possiblity after their next studio effort is complete. “Most likely if we get this record finished for next spring that would see us doing a world tour of sorts — whatever that means nowadays.”

Thanks for the post Mac. I love Def Leppard when they were big. I have not been able to stomach listening to Joe Elliot sing live for the past 10 years because his voice is completely shredded. It's nails on a chalkboard bad. Not that I'm planning on seeing the most expensive KISS Tribute Band anytime soon, but if I were to spend my hard earned cash for tickets, I would much rather see Poison on the bill because Bret actually still sounds great live. It's Joe's voice that I have issues with. And I'm not gonna even getting into Paul's voice as I have already pointed out how bad he sounds too.

Sigh.

KISS, Def Leppard and Night Ranger coming to San Diego......

July 6, 201 Sleep Train Amphitheater Chula Vista, CA March 18 @ 10AM

Apparently the guys in Poison are having major issues with each other which pretty much tanked any kind of Tour for the foreseeable future. So, Night Ranger is stepping into the gig. I'd actually go to this show just to see Ranger.

I literally just got tickets for NIN and Soundgarden....less than 5 minutes ago.

if there was a time machine for KISS and Ace and Peter could be back in...this might be more tempting.   I was on the fence about it...but I think my summer concert bets were better hedged with the NIN Soundgarden show.

we'll see.  I need to check ticket prices for KISS....my guess is they are going to be about $150...we'll see they don't seem to be on sale yet.

Post by: boyinblack80 on March 17, 2014, 01:31:14 pm
looks like tickets are $195 a pop for KISS Def Leppard with lawn seats being around $40 (which suck...I did it once for radiohead years ago and totally regretted it) but that is a big chunk of change for a real 'seat".  NIN and Soundgarden were $99 and I got orchestra seats dead center about 16 rows back....with a 'secret code' pre-sale thing through soundgardens fan page/
Title: Re: KISS Live
Post by: boyinblack80 on March 17, 2014, 02:10:08 pm
KISS would end up being $445 for me for two tickets.

I just can't afford that.

Title: Re: KISS Live

Ranger is the only reason I was even interested in this. At those prices, forget it.
Title: Re: KISS Live

I agree.  I think Night Ranger is fantastic and can still fully deliver something of quality.  I think at $100 per ticket...I'd stretch for it

this NIN Soundgarden thing...I didn't even know about until maybe 3 days back...I got an e mail and was like...wow ok.  as much as I am a huge Soundgarden fan....NIN whom I've seen two times before is incredible live.

Trent doesn't screw around...and I mean...you want to talk about cutting edge stage show with lighting and video on top of how good the music is for him.  Trent doesn't disappoint there either at all.  he's got movie money now and everyone wants to work with him.  I can't imagine what he's bringing this time around.

I went pretty cautiously to the presale thing thinking...man these are going to be about $150 a ticket and I'll probably get **** seats.  To be honest I didn't even pick the best section first because I thought 100% it would be sold out...I was an hour late getting online to buy a ticket because I'd totally forgot they went on sale today/  I hadn't entered my "secret" code...so it wouldn't let me buy the middle section seat (lodge basically)....when I figured out where the code was to be entered I had to select my seat again and figured..."why not check the first orchestra section in the middle way up front"....there were about 6 seats left.

I thought for sure when I checked out it wouldn't go through...but it did.

so yeah for $220 I got two tickets basically....16 rows back dead center.

I am honestly very excited for the show...more than I thought I'd be.

I think it's more I am such a huge fan of music again...I rarely if ever get a chance to see anything live anymore...so the thought of seeing cool guitars and stuff on stage cranking...is very exciting./

I thought it was tomorrow.

I almost totally f*cked myself.

My wife would have been bummed.

I was checking the e mail to see what time tomorrow and It said...Monday at noon.  I was like F*CK.  because it was 1 PM already/.

I think a lot of people forgot...and also because I did it through Soundgardens pre sale and not NIN...that probably saved me.

NIN fans are crazy and super hard core...soundgarden I think are not the same "breed" of fan and most are like me...want to go, planning on going, but won't be at the computer the second the presale starts although I am sure some people were.

each band is probably allocated a few hundred seats for their pre sale code...if I was to guess.

Knowing what KISS is all about these days, you are looking at minimum $5,000....or more specifically $4,999.99, even if it's not technically worth that kind of number. The fact that it's "Limited" makes it easier for them to justify the price.
Title: Re: KISS Live
Post by: boyinblack80 on March 17, 2014, 03:37:15 pm

what I like about this is...it's something you will enjoy for a lifetime....I would never get bored with something like that

5K I cannot even try to pull off...but if it's in a decent range I have to look at it like...this will still be cool to be 20-30 years from now...

although with that said...I am sure every 10 years a new box set of LPs will come out anyway

hhahaha

damn you KISS!!

No way is this set going for $1200-1500. That's insanely low compared to their Meet and Greet package. And since this is a keepsake of epic proportion, Gina and Paulina will say it's worth way more than that. Just my view of things and trying to think like them when it comes to stuff like that. Like I said, this being Limited to 1000 worldwide is what's making me drive the price up. If this was just a Set that could be had anywhere, anytime, then your number is more reasonable.

I said my "hope".  They aren't going to do any fans favors on this.  It won't be 5k.  I guess $2200-2500..which I will pass on without blinking an eye

They may try and hit $1999.  I'd stll pass without a seconds  thought.  Waaaay too many average albums to pay premium prices for a cardboard box.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_uBfTVR51Mw

Okay, I finally ****. After YEARS of avoiding, refusing to watch/listen to any version of Beth being sung by Eric Singer, I had to find out for myself how his version compared to the almighty Peter Criss. Sorry dude, but THIS is a song you shouldn't ever sing live because you just can't do it justice. Let me just say that as a singer, Eric is great, especially on tracks like Nothin' To Lose and Black Diamond. But on Beth, it's not good. It's not horrible, but it's certainly no where near what Peter brings to it.

Peter = 1
Eric = 0

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IP01sFdCr7A

How the f*ck is it that I have NEVER seen this clip until last night. I did however seek out to find any live versions of the song and stumbled across this one. Technically it's not "live" as the band in lip syncing to the studio track on a TV Spot. What's cool is that with 40 years worth of history, there is tons of stuff that I have yet to see....and discover. I love this clip for a lot of reasons. First is seeing "new" footage of Eric Carr in the band and second, seeing this as one of the earliest footage from the Elder years, even if the song is from Dynasty. I just wish the film quality was better though.

I can try and give you my ticket...they say it's NON transferable...but I think if I called Warwicks they would be cool with it.  I sort of know them from working by the place for 16 years...they are pretty mellow and casual...if I tell them I am an artist and I have a signing myself in LA they might hook it up./

they didn't do any sort of ID check with the Ozzy signing.

so I mean...you go and pick up the book, and they scoot you through...we'll talk about it....we've got about 3 weeks./

Gene sounds great in this. The band does a great job as well. You know, these guys sound better than the real thing. No lie. This is only 2 years ago. Sign them up! I like that Gene isn't wearing any makeup and still did the performance. It's a great song and I'm glad this was captured on video.

With 40 years of footage to sort through and soak up and that's a lot of bootlegs, Pro Shot, PPV stuff to get through, you have a tendency to "forget" what are the best Full Concert shows. It has been quite awhile since I last watched Lost Alive II and having just watched this again this morning, I'm just totally blown away by this particular show. THIS is KISS at their peak. Never has the band played this good and looked amazing in the process. This is easily one of the greatest pro shots of the band in all it's glory. Right now I would be put this at #2, if not #1 for my all time favorite KISS concert. I'm trying to remember some of the other shows that I hold in high regard and right now I can't think of another one that would claim the #1 spot. The only "negative" is that it's only 45 minutes long. I'm just so use to 2 hour shows that I sometimes forget that this was still a very "new" band and they didn't have a huge set list back in the 70's. Anyway, this gets 10 Stars.

I really didn't know what to expect from this prior to listening and it sounds great given A) How old it is and B) That it's just a rehearsal. There are bound to be flubs and f*ckups, but this was a fun mini set for sure. It's obviously not mic to perfection as the music dominates everything, leaving the vocals to fight it's way. It can never get there because the music is raw and in your face. Still a pleasure to hear something that has been kept under lock and key by these KISS hoarders for 40 years. I will give this 3 1/2 Stars out of 5.

Just seeing the Original Four at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame was...electric. They didn't play at all, and yet.....the energy of them just standing together on stage made me feel proud to be a member of the KISS Army and that I've been there from pretty much the beginning. I count myself very lucky to have seen the Original Four perform 3 times live. Been thinking a lot about my favorite memories of KISS and one of the greatest ever for me was watching KISS' MTV Unplugged show when it originally aired on TV. It's a moment I will never forget, seeing Ace and Peter walking out onto the stage. The feeling I had that night was exactly what I felt seeing them walking on stage to accept their HOF Awards. So, what better way to celebrate that moment then to re-watch the Unplugged sessions.........

As for this fan-shot video, this is sweeeeeeeeeeeeet!!! Just a couple of songs into it and it's already 1000% better then the aforementioned edited version. Be back later with my thoughts on the fan-shot version and how it stacks up with other fan-shot shows.

KISS (Live At Tiger Stadium Detroit 6/28/1996 - Reunion Tour)

As I said in my previous post, this fan-shot video blows the "official" version way out of the water for a lot of reasons. But it's not perfect though. There was one MAJOR f*ckup during Ace's guitar solo. It was a moment that was embarrassing for both Ace and the fans. I know I was embarrassed watching it at home....18 years later. It comes during the section where Ace is suppose to get a hit and triggers the repeater fx. Only problem is that there was a break in the signal and Ace couldn't get anything to work. It gets to the point where he literally hits a note and walks off, clearly p*ssed off, even if the note is barely audible. It wasn't his fault. He had nothing to do with it. Just a luck of the draw kind of thing.

Another odd thing comes during Beth. Normally Peter finishes the song off with 3 successive "All Night......". We only get the first one. Not sure if Peter was p*ssed as he walked off the stage pretty fast or if he was choked up. I'm guessing it's the later. Other than those two moments, it's a pretty solid show and I liked how the set list was switched up. I didn't even bother actually looking at the Set List order when I posted it because I know it backwards and forwards. Well, I was wrong. They actually closed out the show with Rock and Roll All Night leading into the first Encore. This tripped me up. But when they come back, it made sense they would save Detroit Rock City near the end since the first show of the Reunion was taking place in Detroit of all places. I'd watch this show again for sure.

FYI, KISS is playing right now at this very moment at Sleep Train Amphitheatre in Chula Vista, just outside of San Diego, which is about a 30 minute drive from my location. They no longer play at San Diego Sports Arena, which is a shame. I was marginally interested in going and thought long and hard about whether or not it was worth it. At the end of the day, just didn't feel like drive out there for crappy seats in the middle of a monster heatwave. Others on the bill include Def Leppard, Kobra and Lotus

KISS announces Vegas Hard Rock residency (http://www.usatoday.com/story/life/music/2014/07/14/kiss-las-vegas-hard-rock-joint-residency/12596543/)

This has been in the works for yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeears! What I mean by that, I've had conversations with a few friends in both Jr High and High School how we all thought they would end up in Vegas. So, it's about DAMN time I say!!

It's a short stint, right. Like 9 shows?

Post by: Chiprocks1 on July 14, 2014, 01:20:26 pm
One month stay in Vegas, but unclear how many shows are on the books. Knowing Gene and Paul, I think they will want to milk this for as much coin as possible and given that they only have to set up once, they are looking at a situation they've never had before and that's turning an easy profit. So, I would think given a day off here and there, I would peg it for around 20 shows minimum.

Damn old back!!

This should be neat.  Hoping they open with KOTNW!!

Oh sh*t! The quality on my TV is HD goodness. It also sounds great. After watching a bunch of bootleg/fan-shot shows for awhile, I was kinda expecting much of the same. Was not expecting HD by a long shot!

This is great! It's like I'm THERE in person! Or....it's like they are performing in my house!  ;D The set list order is different and I actually like that because it's not predictable. I hate knowing what song is going to be played next. Fourth song in and they are already playing War Machine.

I wish Paul would save his voice. He is literally screaming at the top of his lungs during the 'banter with the audience' between songs. He doesn't need to waste his voice on something so meaningless. Save it for the song Paul!!!

What the f*ck! That was trippy. Right when Gene is about to spit blood, the Hell's Bells goes off in the background. As in the gone of the bells. I thought they were about to kick into AC/DC's epic song which would have been epic to hear them play live. Ack!!!

PHIL COLLEN ROCKING WITH KISS

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1lmlP8IS08s

I can't recall EVER seeing anyone (besides Garth Brooks), getting up on stage and jamming with KISS. But that was during the Revenge era and obviously not in costume. American Idol doesn't count. I've always hoped that one day we will see Bruce Kulick doing exactly what Phil did here and I already have designed his own character: The Railroad Spike. Get it? Think on that for a second.  ;D Anyway, it was cool to see Phil "back in character" from his Glam days with Girl.

quick question...have you been able to save stuff 1080 dpi lately....and what are you using?

both of my main go too's have been **** blocked by youtube for the 1080 option..(which is a common thing...supposedly youtube makes it where you can't save those)

but they try and do that with all vids...

Rock am Ring Festival. I looked closer at their costumes and it's definitely a couple of years old. Gene isn't wearing the tusk horns and Paul doesn't have a bra on......so, not current.
Title: Re: KISS Live
Post by: boyinblack80 on December 02, 2014, 07:35:38 am
I've seen that show...was one of the first live things I'd seen on KISS back a few years ago....I thought it was pretty bad...Paul's voice sounded funky....Gene looked super fat...and Tommy and Eric didn't have the swagger or personality of Ace and Peter.

we talked about this one a year or so back...I remember telling you it was so bad, I could barely watch it...it was painful/

I wonder now if I've just accepted this level of skill...or the band has in fact improved over the last 3 or 4 years/
Title: Re: KISS Live
Post by: boyinblack80 on December 03, 2014, 12:04:39 pm
uh oh

"Members of the KISS Army started to grow a little restless Tuesday, as the night closed in on 11 p.m. and Ace Frehley had not appeared on the Scout Bar stage. An hour earlier, the crowd had chanted "We Want Ace!" and "Bring on Ace!" As time continued to tick forward with no appearance, one man in the crowd shouted, "Hurry up Ace, get your old-man ass out here!" The frustrated crowd then started chanting, "Bullshit! Bullshit!" around 10:56 p.m., followed by a few boos."

Ace is coming unraveled...lots of negative stuff popping up based on the last 2 weeks...he'sless and less songs live because he's too cheap to fork over money for playing over curfew...so he shows up late and still ends the show at say 11 PM or 12.

pretty lame
Title: Re: KISS Live
Post by: Chiprocks1 on December 03, 2014, 12:24:52 pm
I read that this morning and this is why I am 100% positive that when the first leg of current tour is done.....that's it. He may do a gig here and there, but don't expect anything on the "scale" of what he's done the past month.

they probably never learned how to play the song

;)

I honestly haven't heard it.  I check out about 30 seconds of this maybe yesterday or the day before...I turned it off....wasn't bad or anything...just wasn't in the mood at the time.

Funny Paul would ever do this considering he's a "big boy and likes to show other bands how it's done"

;)

well you my friend have great taste in music that's why!!

I just figured the song will be out forever...why spoil it now...still been going back and listening to a lot of Anomaly in the car...and at home I was spinning Alive and also RARO...I stuck a ton of my records in the closet to make room for my drawing books in my office...so my inking room which I'd loaded with albums had to go back to a "think tank" for art!!
