I'm very surprised at how entertaining this installment in The Fast and the Furious franchise is. It's way better than 2 Fast 2 Furious (http://pennycan.createaforum.com/dvd's-blu-rays/2-fast-2-furious-(2003)/). I was pretty much dismissive of Tokyo Drift when it came out because there was no connection to the original or even the follow up at all. The ONLY thing that ties it together was the cameo by Torretto (Vin Diesel) at the end, which was a nice surprise. As for this movie, I thought the racing sequences were a lot better here than in the last one. The plot though is pretty weak because they more or less cribbed it from a couple of other films.

As soon as the dude is shipped off to Tokyo, I immediately knew where they were going with it. I call this one The Karate Kid and Godfather On Wheels flick now. Still a fun movie, if a bit predictable. This is a definite Rent.

Iíve come to appreciate the art of drifting. I honestly did not know it existed before, let alone a competition. Now Iím very aware of it. Iíve also come to appreciate the art and beauty of some of those Ďrice burnersí. Iíve pretty much dismissed them before this movie, but in Tokyo Drift, they have focus, meaning and are things of beauty. Still donít think I would want to own one, but I can appreciate them for what they are.

I've known about drifting for a long time as I've seen it first hand as well as getting to drift in some of the racing games on Xbox. But yeah, while watching Tokyo Drift, I kept saying to myself...."synchronized swimming....on WHEELS". Karate Kid. Godfather. What else can I put on wheels here?
