let's see how this pans out.

Quote
NBC has given series orders to "Hannibal," a 13-episode drama from "Pushing Daisies"' Bryan Fuller featuring the classic characters from Thomas Harris' novel "Red Dragon," reports THR.

"Hannibal," from Gaumont International Television, is described as an hourlong contemporary thriller featuring characters from Harris' best-seller and revolves around FBI agent Will Graham and his mentor, Dr. Hannibal Lecter, who are reintroduced as the beginning of their budding relationship.

Lecter was made famous in the 1991 The Silence of the Lambs which landed Anthony Hopkins an Oscar.

Fuller is also working on the delayed "Mockingbird Lane," a reboot of "The Munsters.
"

Munsters? Yea, that's something we've been anxiously waiting for.  :-\

This has fail written all over it. How can they stay true to the character if it's on NBC? It will be watered down. At least put it on a Cable channel like Showtime, HBO or even FX. But NBC?

Meh. It was decent. I will give NBC some props for not shying way from the blood. But overall, I just didn't connect with the actors playing the characters. I will give it a couple more episodes to see where it goes. But based on the Pilot, I really don't see what all the rave reviews about this one is. I dunno. Just an average forensic / procedural show at the moment.

I had to fix the title of the thread. Hope you don't mind. It was difficult finding it.

A much better episode for me at least. I like that they are going to have all the episodes basically connected to each other. By that I mean the previous episode isn't swept under the rug and forgotten. I like procedural shows, but most of them are basically stand alone episodes that completely disregard what happened before. With Hannibal, they are using the previous episode to continue the story. So far that is. They may be using arcs for a few episode and then moving onto another completely different arc. Whatever the case may be, I prefer this type of writing format over single stand alone stories. Longer arcs reward the viewer for sticking with the show.

As for this episode in general, I like the Tabloid Reporter. She is an annoying gnat that will stir the pot and create havoc. Her scene with Hannibal was the moment that I finally took to the show. I will definitely be sticking with the series to see how it progresses. One thing though, the show may be called 'Hannibal', but he isn't the main character. It's Will.

I wasn't expecting Abigail to become the centerpiece of the show. Well, for the time being she is. I knew that she would call Hannibal out as the one that called her father to warn him that the cops were closing in on him, but what is unclear is if she knew all along. I guess him helping her hide the body of the man she just killed would be the clue that she needed in "seeing him" for what he is. But there was a scene earlier when she wanted him to "play the role of the man that called the house" that still leads me to believe she knew. But how? Happy coincidence? Anyway, this was a really good episode. Now it's just a question of how much Abigail will play in the rest of the series. Does she become a partner in crime to Hannibal? I dunno. It goes against what we've always "known" about the character of Hannibal.

A couple of days ago, Gina Torres popped into my head as I was wondering what she was up to because I noticed that I hadn't seen her in anything in such a long time. So, it was kind of trippy to watch this episode this morning and see her featured front and centered. It looks to be a big enough role that she will have recurring episodes for sure. As for the rest of the episode, NBC really is pushing the envelope. 'Flesh Wing Angels' isn't something I would expect to see on broadcast TV for sure. It was okay. Most of the story really did deal with Jack Crawford and his wife Bella (Gina Torres).

The show isn't perfect, but I'm enjoying it none the less and Mads Mikkelsen is kind of starting to grow on me as Hannibal. But with that said, I think Eddie Izzard would have made a far more better Hannibal Lecter in both appearance as well as the embodiment of the character. It was a trip to see Anna Chlumsky here, who I have not seen in anything since My Girl. That's a long time. Solid episode for the most part and I did like seeing them bring Dr. Chilton into the Hannibal world. I guess he has always been a self-deluded dick.

Eating all those human organs is gonna go straight to their hips. They need to invest in a Gym Membership. Ack! It doesn't take a genius to figure out that Hannibal is harvesting organs for the sole purpose of serving them to his dinner guest. Although nothing was particularly gory in this episode, knowing exactly what's going on when he is prepping them for dinner, just makes it very icky and squeamish. Ugh. This episode was all about Hannibal and I liked the music that pretty much underscored it all. I don't recall ever hearing Opera music used so extensively in a broadcast show like this and it played very well. Also, it was very cool to see Dana Scully, er.....I mean, Gillian Anderson turn up in this one as Hannibal's own Shrink. I have not seen her in anything since the last X-Files movie. This looks like it will be a recurring character for her. Yay!!

Very interesting seeing Hannibal and Tobias squaring off against each other. I wasn't expecting this arc to end so quickly, especially in the manner that it did. Having 2 serial killers going up against each one another is something I thought would be drawn out for the remainder of the season because there is so much potential in where to take the story. So, when Hannibal killed Tobias, it was a bit shocking. One thing that is unclear for me is, did Hannibal send Will to investigate Tobias in the hopes that Tobias would kill Will? Anyway, great episode.

I'm kind of surprised in how fast Will Graham was able to 'crack' the mystery of Abigail dark secret in that she killed that one kid. But what's even more surprising is that Hannibal admitted to cover up and burying the body for her to "protect" her future. That's a pretty big assumption on his part that Graham would keep it a secret from Jack Crawford. The flashback scene at the very end with Abigail was interesting in that we get to see how she was complicit to her fathers crimes.

That was one creepy-ass episode. Our biggest fear as kids is finding out someone is under your bed. So imagine if that really turned out to be the case. Will waking up in the middle of the night to see that 'crazy-looking' chick would creep out even the most jaded. I was skeptical that she was actually the one doing the killing. I had my money on Hannibal. But they did such a good job driving home the idea that she was in fact the killer that by the time of the reveal at the end, I was 'D'oh' when they show Hannibal doing the deed. Also, would anyone in their right mind go and meet Will at the crime scene in the middle of the night in an "unofficial" capacity when she's heard 'talk' about him being mentally unbalanced? You couldn't pay me enough money to be in the same room with a BIG QUESTION MARK that is Will. Beverly's got balls the size of grapefruits to do that.

Seeing Gideon escape, I thought we were going to get an epic showdown between him and Hannibal. That didn't happen. It was Will that takes him down, but the ending was very confusing for me. How did Will even know that he would be loitering outside the house? And how is it in his condition could even get there in one piece to take him down? I'm confused indeed.

After the slight misstep of last episode, this one in particular was frickin' awesome. Abigail is definitely a fascinating character to watch because you just don't know what is going on in her head. Same with Will Graham. The ending where Abigail finally figures out that Hannibal is the serial killer and how he was able to manipulate her into killing was electric. Unfortunately this is the last we will probably see of her because it's implied that he will kill her so that he can keep his secret intact. That was the cliffhanger. I can't see any 'outs' for her that is gonna spare her come next episode. Can't wait till it arrives.

What a fantastic episode, one that kept me on the edge of my seat, guessing the entire time. I really didn't foresee that they would have Will Graham end up as a patient in the psyche ward. I figured that at the 11th hour, he would finally "snap out of it" and make a miraculous recovery and discover Hannibal for who and what he is. Well, have the equation played out as such. But now Will is locked up and Hannibal is going to taunt and mess with him from the outside as he knows that anything he does about him will be construed as the ravings of a mad man. This show, after a couple of minor episodes has really come roaring back.

And I JUST had an epiphany about one of the actors on the show and it was completely by dumb luck. While I was writing this review, I started to think of what others shows I own on DVD that I want to re-watch soon and the first thing that popped into my head was Wonderfalls. As soon as I saw the name of the title in my head, my minds eye zeroed in on the lead for the show.....Caroline Dhavernas. D'oh!!!! I never made the connection before because I haven't seen her in anything since Wonderfalls went off the air, which is a crime itself. Loved that show and loved her in it. Nice to know she has a permanent gig on this one.
