Title: Business Idea?
Post by: Mac on February 23, 2012, 08:05:42 am
Since we are not exactly internationally known... yet. I heard this pretty impressive idea today from my local talk show hosts. They were talking grammy's, itunes and purchasing songs (I have not done the iTunes thing yet). But they mentioned that iTunes is pretty much songs only. Liner notes and booklets and those things that use to be associated with physical product. Mark talked about a website that had nothing but the linear notes and booklet information for all (New and Old) albums.

I thought that would be rather a cool site. Maybe even a money maker.

The downside, I think today's generation of listeners would not care about that, let alone know what that stuff is.

You bring up a good point, those that didn't experience Vinyl's and the art that it is, really wouldn't give a sh*t about hand-held products and liner notes. Anyone that got started with CD's is already missing half the product to begin with, so it's really no loss for them now that it's onto downloadable content. Personally, I just need to be able to touch, feel and hold whatever item I'm buying and that's one of the reason's I have yet to embrace iTunes. If iTunes offered something like a download option with physical product (booklets, art, etc...) to be shipped later at a slightly higher price, I would totally go with the higher price if I knew I had something being shipped my way in the mail.
