Look, straight up I think that Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy is a bit overrated with way too much praise lavished on it. Yes, there are some pretty gut busting funny stuff to be found here and they do make you laugh out loud, but when you look at the movie as a whole, it's pretty weak. At times it doesn't even seem like your watching a movie at all, but a series of sight gags loosely tied together with a narrative. I do like the players involved here from Will Ferrell, Steve Carell and Paul Rudd. I just wished that more thought had gone into the story. As always, stay all the way to the end of the credits for one final scene. The Blooper Reel that plays during the credits was also funny as well.

Keep your eyes peeled for cameos by Ben Stiller, Jack Black, Tim Robbins, Luke Wilson, Vince Vaughn, Seth Rogen and Judd Apatow just to name a few. There are more. So....stay sharp.

Recommend this as a Rent.

I place Ferrell right up there with Adam Sandler. I have a predisposition of not liking either. Sandler has been around a long time and proves each and every time he is not funny. Even, no, especially in his SNL days. Will Ferrell I’m on the fence, only because I did enjoy Step Brothers quite a bit. That surprised me. But beyond that, like Sandler, I do not care for the humor.  I’ve made attempt to sit down and at least try to watch the movies, but admittedly I’ve deliberately choose not to waste my time.

I attempted to watch Ron Burgundy when it first came out on DVD. The radio program I listen to on the drive home love this movie and often, way too often, play clips from it. I actually find this torturous. I didn’t find it funny the first time and it sure didn’t get funnier each day they played it (they are going absolutely nuts over the news or RB II, good gawd). I’ll admit, I turned Ron Burgundy off after about a half hour. Just not my cup of tea.

A sequel to this one is not warranted. Will I check it out on DVD. Sure. But do I think it deserves a Sequel? Nope.
