Marvel Announces Joe Mad's AVENGING SPIDER-MAN (http://www.newsarama.com/comics/marvel-next-big-thing-110613.html)
Looks like Marvel has created a new Spider-Man book: Avenging Spider-Man just for Joe Madureira. I've always been a fan of his back in the days when he was working on Uncanny X-Men as well as his own creator-owned book Battle Chasers. That is until, even he couldn't finish his own book that he started. And of course there is the disaster known as The Ultimates 3.
So, even though my interest here is piqued, based on Joe's track record, this too will follow down the same path of missed shipping dates. If I were Marvel, I wouldn't announce this new title until Joe has at least 6 issues in the can. More pencil pages in the link. Cool stuff.

Whats Joe's problem. Does he just work too slow?

I have no idea. But what I have heard and this is passed down from like 3-4 sources, so it's bound to get manipulated and altered through each person telling the story. But what I hear is that he doesn't like doing comics and kind of thinks he is "above" doing comic related work. That it's beneath him. Now if that is true, then he will always have a blase approach about the work and look for anything else to work on and usually does. But don't quote me as this being fact, I'm just repeating what I have heard.

I find that hard to believe. I have heard others complain about the pay and the amount of work required verses the mad deadlines, so you really have to enjoy doing it to even bother really. I think I'll see what I can find out.

Just found this interview. Its old but I think it shows he actually enjoys doing comic work.

Well, I'm referring to his time when he came back to comics after doing video game and production work for the bulk of the last 15 years or so. I'm sure he was a mega fan of the stuff he was doing back in his X-Men days.

You know it's probably true. People and interests do change. But if that's so I wonder why he's doing spiderman now? I suppose he has to put food on the table just like the rest of us.

Whatever happens, I'm looking for a good run by Mad Dog. And hopefully after this is can finally finish Battle Chasers.

Marvel Comics reveals the new Spider Man is black - and he could be gay in the future (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2021563/Marvel-Comics-reveal-new-Spider-Man-black-gay-future.html)
Very interesting. I wasn't expecting this. I just assumed it was going to be Peter Parker.
