Trailer

After seeing the Trailer and knowing a little bit of background behind the movie and that Nick Frost was in it, it was a no brainer that I would check this out. I've heard nothing but great things about Attack The Block. Um, to say this movie is overrated is being kind. It has a great concept, the the writing is horrible and the film making average at best. It's a B-Movie type of Alien invasion, which I don't have a problem with. My biggest gripe is definitely the writing and the characters. I can't remember the last time I actually cheered on the Aliens to kill humans, but I was certainly doing so here.

Writing a bunch of snot nose kids trying to act all gansta, who push dope, mug people and terrorize the neighborhood is not the way to go if you are trying to build rapport with them. I hated these kids so much that I couldn't wait to see them meet their demise. There is nothing likable about any of them so I didn't care one way or another if they got their heads chomped off. Further more, they don't even change by the end of the movie. Everyone is chanting 'Moses' as their savior for saving the block and instead of some form of humility on his part to show that he has changed, we get this dumb-ass smirk on his face that says "I'm a badass  m o t h e r f u c k e r  and these are my peeps....bruv". Ugh.

And what about Nick Frost? Cameo. That's it. He is a non issue and doesn't add anything to the movie. The aliens themselves were more funny than scary. Man in ape suit is the best way to describe them. With all the bad in this movie, the ending, with the "inventive" way of blowing them all up was kinda interesting. But in the end, this movie fails.

Honeslly, I would say this is a Skip. But a Rent if there is nothing else on the rack at your local Blockbuster or Library. You're better off checking out Paul (http://pennycan.createaforum.com/dvd's-blu-rays/paul-(2011)/msg8375/#msg8375), if you're in the mood for some Alien fun.
