It's J.J. Abrams and I'm willing to give this one a shot. But the Trailer doesn't look all that promising. Granted the scenes are pulled from the Pilot so it's premature to slam it. I just don't want to be disappointed again.

Visually it starts off stunning. Not sure I'm digging the post apocalyptic farming environment. Then again, it's all about the story. Good story... Good show.

Premiering this fall (September 17 to be exact) is NBC’s new genre drama “Revolution”, which has parked its promo items outside the San Diego Comic-Con convention center. Inside Evan Dickson sends in imagery of props from the show including a beat-up car and ferris wheel.

“What would you do without it all? In “Revolution”, an epic adventure thriller from “Supernatural”’s Eric Kripke, J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot Productions and Iron Man’s Jon Favreau, a family struggles to reunite in a post-apocalyptic landscape of empty cities, local militias and heroic freedom fighters where every single piece of technology — phones, computers, cars, even lights — has mysteriously blacked out … forever.”

“Revolution” stars Billy Burke (Twilight films), Tracy Spiridakos (“Being Human”), Anna Lise Phillips (Animal Kingdom), Zak Orth (Wet Hot American Summer), Graham Rogers (“Memphis Beat”), J.D. Pardo (The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2), Giancarlo Esposito (“Breaking Bad), David Lyons (“The Cape”), Maria Howell (“The Vampire Diaries”) and Tim Guinee (Iron Man films) and is executive produced by Kripke, J.J. Abrams (“Fringe”) and Bryan Burk (“Fringe”).

“Revolution” will air Mondays at 10/9c on NBC this fall. Watch the full-length pilot at Warner Bros. Television’s Preview Night screening at the San Diego Comic-Con on Wednesday, July 11, or during the “Revolution” session on Saturday, July 14.

Elizabeth Mitchell talks about a 'Revolution' (http://insidetv.ew.com/2012/09/17/revolution-premiere-elizabeth-mitchell/)

Elizabeth Mitchell added to the cast (not in the Pilot). Awesome! I've been a fan of hers every since Lost (http://pennycan.createaforum.com/dvd's-blu-rays/lost-(season-3-2006)/msg11003/#msg11003).

It didn't suck. Also didn't really grab me. I'll give it some slack because the early shows need to introduce story and characters and develop a foundation. So I'll continue, but with just a mediocre attitude. Just finishing watching the Hunger Games has a very similar look and feel. It's just not the bow and arrow thing. It's the young cast.

Revolution isn't bad, but it wasn't particularly entertaining for the bulk of the episode. It's not until the final 2 minutes did it succeed in hooking me in. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the person on the other end of the computer that was typing back is Charlie's "dead" mother played by Elizabeth Mitchell. Anyway, up till the final 2 minutes, the episode played kinda like The Hunger Games (http://pennycan.createaforum.com/dvd's-blu-rays/the-hunger-games-(2012)-1316/msg12043/#msg12043) with the young cast, neither one of the main characters did I find all that interesting. The dude with the beard, aka the Teacher was by far the most interesting when we learn a little about his past. As for the series, there is a lot of potential here and I will be sticking with it for the time being. Anytime you get a chance to watch Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad (http://pennycan.createaforum.com/dvd's-blu-rays/breaking-bad-(season-3-2010)/msg12167/#msg12167)), you take it. He is awesome in everything he does.

Ep 2

Bored to death. The characters are not interesting, the story lacks tension, therefore grabbing any kind attention from me.

I may give this a try next week, but am not holding anything to close. I don't have time to watch ho-hum drama.

Chained Heat
(http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i266/Chiprocks1/Star%20Ratings/HTL_03star.gif)

Revolution right now is falling into the same pattern that plagued Falling Skies for me. In both cases, they paced the episode for something "big" to happen near the end and in both cases, they have yet to really deliver. The first episode they did enough to hook me in. In Chained Heat....nothing. They also need to ramp up the tension of constantly being in peril. The fact that they are able to just wander around the wilderness, yakking away doesn't make me ever feel they are in danger. For the most part, this was a dull episode and I'm not feeling it with the main character. She has zero personality.

I've read reviews about slamming the science behind the show. All the plot holes. And if I had a boat load of time, I guess I would get into the mix of it, but in reality, that's just one little aspect of the show

For me, it's the characters. Not even remotely memorable. As someone who said, it's kind of a mix between the Twilight Saga and Lost. What little I did see of Twilight, yea, the characters are pretty watered down. Tweens probably love this show.

Well, the same thing can be said about The Hunger Games. It really is the same formula. But for me, what made Games fun to watch, in spite of its initial flaws is that they had Jennifer Lawrence. She made it watchable. The lead actress in Revolution is a bore with no charm whatsoever, which makes all the flaws all the more apparent. I will stick with the show a little while longer because I do think this is the expected 'growing pains' for a new series and I'm willing to cut them some slack till they find their groove.

Not a perfect episode, but definitely much improved over the first two, that much I can attest to. Miles is definitely the hook that they need to start building around. Pretty big reveal when we find out that he is actually the 2nd in Command of the Militia. We also get to see the "birth" of the Militia as well toward the end. We also finally get to see what the necklace is and what it does. From what I gather, it's a self generating power source that can turn on electronic devices within earshot.

As for the girl. Really not sure what she is bringing to the table or even what he role is in the series other than to remind Miles that her brother has been kidnapped. The two characters that the writers have placed as the face of the series are the two weakest in my book. The series still needs some work, but this episode was encouraging. Also, adding Mark Pellegrino was a huge step in the right direction. He is best known as Jacob from Lost.

This needs so much more bang. It caught my eye with the execution and ambush. Not to say it needs violence. It needs more conflict.

I'm starting to warm up to Revolution now, especially after this episode which had a lot of things going on and some surprising twist. For starters, even though Maggie up to this point was probably the least interesting character, I was somewhat surprised they killed her off so soon. Figures that in her final episode, her character gets some depth and becomes very interesting. Ben on the other hand has got to be the dumbest kid on the planet to save Captain Tom Neville, the man that killed his father and has been holding him against his will. Overall, I really liked this episode because they upped the tension for most of the hour.

This getting better and they are pumping up the tension in the right places. A couple of new additions to the cast and a pretty big reveal at the end....actually two reveals. The first being that Jason father is none other than Tom Neville. The other reveal is that their are 12 pendants. My guess is that you need all 12 of them together in order to turn the power back on. Even though it wasn't mentioned, I kinda figured out how and why the first pendant turned itself on. My guess is that if any pendant is on close proximity to another, that's when it comes on. So, that means there was another one (person) that had one. Also, it was nice to finally see Charlie step up and become the leader I was expecting her to be at the start. Now is this temporary or has she finally become a true leader? We shall see.........

I like the addition of Kim Raver (24) and Jeff Fahey (Lost).

Pretty good episode, even if it didn't really further the plot. This one was all about Aaron, both before and after the Blackout and how he kind of lived in his own bubble because he was rich and pacifist. He still is and that's how he was able to trick Drexel into coming out of protection and get the drop on him. They also set up the potential reunion with his Wife when he left her because he couldn't protect her. My guess is that when Aaron finds her again, she will hooked up with that one guy that saved them both.

Very cool episode, even if the main story got somewhat sidetracked with the notion of saving a bunch of kids from the Militia, it did set up some bigger characters that will have a much larger role in the Revolution Universe. Also, I thought it was pretty damn cool how Aaron hiding with the kids from the Militia suddenly is forced to deal with the fact that he has no control of the pendant and it turns the Lighthouse 'ON', giving away his position to well....well, everyone. This show just keeps getting better and better.

This was a very predictable episode, taking it's cues right from the playbook of 'bait and switch'. I knew from the get go that Mia was working for Strausser and was purposely leading her sister Nora away from Miles and the rest of the gang and that she would some how end up with the pendant. Even though there were no surprises with regards to the plot, I still found it very enjoyable. The one thing that I really like is that Tom Neville's wife played by Kim Raver is now pushing Tom to rise up against Monroe and take over leadership. I've always though that having an actor of Giancarlo Esposito playing just a foot soldier was a waste of opportunity for the show. He is far more charismatic and scarier than David Lyons who plays Monroe. This line of leadership just never sat well with me.

This was a very cool episode and probably my favorite one so far this season. When I saw the title of this episode, my immediate reaction was 'Led Zeppelin'. But that's where it ended. Never in a million years would I have guessed that not only was it about their greatest song ever, but that they would somehow be able to land the song and feature it in the episode. Zep is notorious for not allowing their music to appear in movies, let along a TV show. I loved how they used the song to frame Miles scene. Very, very cool!

As for the story itself, it was very compelling and very touching with the gang trapped in an underground subway tunnel, losing air and hallucinating, which triggers things that they think they are seeing. The scene with Charlie and her father was very good.

Awesome episode! Now that's how to do it. I was pretty sure that Miles was going to finally kill Monroe. I knew from the beginning that with all the flashbacks of them as kids and adults that their paths would cross at the end, culminating in a fight to the death between the two. Well, it's just a fight. No death. But I liked the way the episode ends when the gang escapes only to stand face to face with a Helicopter about to fire on them. I feel stupid for not figuring out where the Militia Logo came from. FYI, it refers to Miles/Monroe. D'oh!!

You realize that it will be almost 4 months since the last new episode aired? The show doesn't return until March 25, 2013. How's that for tanking a show that had a lot of momentum during it's initial run? I'm pretty sure that most people assume this was canceled because there was no announcement that it was going on such a long hiatus and there hasn't been any promos of its return. THIS is not how to handle a show that you want to survive.

I saw the ad last night for that. That's exactly what I thought. First, I thought this was cancelled. Second... how many months?

Do they not learn from history? I would be surprised this remained on the air. I just think that gap of time, people move on.

I can easily say that most people will have moved on. They are going to have to do some serious heavy promotion because this is not how to keep a brand name alive. I can't believe these people get paid the big bucks that they do.

Welcome back Revolution! Four and a half long ass months. Not cool. So, was it worth the wait getting to start the second half of season 1? Yup. They've changed the playing field by changing the objective now. Killing off Danny wasn't shocking at all. I saw it coming a mile away. They needed to give Charlie a goal that was and is very personal. Sure, rescuing him was a goal in itself, but it was motivated by revenge, which is something I never saw in the character regarding the death of her father. But with Danny getting mowed down in front of her own eyes, it is ON now.

Okay, now we are getting somewhere. We now know exactly who is responsible for the Blackout, that being Randall. Up till now it was kind of implied that Randall was behind this. What we see here is that he is the one that gave the order to 'execute'. We don't actually see him "pulling the trigger" if you will, but we do see that there is another piece of the puzzle and it's called the 'Tower'. I think we will get a more definitive answer in the next episode. That is if the writers don't decide to drag it out for a few more episodes or even worse, drag it all the way to the cliffhanger.

I was expecting Led Zeppelin, not Lionel Richie!! Anyway, great scene between Gus Fring, er, I mean......Tom Neville and his son. It was obvious that his son Jason was letting him "escape" so that he would reveal his mission objective. It was also obvious that he would in fact escape before the episode was over. I like that Rachel and Aaron are setting off on their own journey toward the Tower. This means we will have another story to follow instead of just the Rebels and Militia.

Meh. Wasn't all that engaging for an episode centered around tracking and retrieving a nuclear bomb. The whole back story of Miles being all about the "job" wasn't news and it's something they've already covered before. The only new reveal was learning 'why' the power was turned off in the first place. Seems that some people, in order to live needed the power shut off. With the power turned back on, those same people will now perish.

Biggest casting blunder is bringing in Leslie Hope as the President. I do NOT like her as an actress. She was the weak link in the first season of 24 and is what kept it from being a standout season. Killing her off was the best thing the writers of the series ever did. He's hoping they do the same on Revolution.

This show is turning into 24 with all the actors coming and going on Revolution. It was so cool to see Annie Wersching here. Sadly as I expected, she would be one and done. Why does she always get killed off? For once I'd like to see her land on a series for multiple episodes. Another 24 Vet was that of Jon Casser. who directed the biggest and best episodes of 24. Not sure if he has been with Revolution prior to this. Can't remember seeing his name in the credits until this one. Anyway, solid episode that saw Annie playing Miles former fiance Emma, who slept with Monroe and had a child out of wedlock. Now the question is where is the kid. Aaron also was reunited with his Wife Priscilla who blurts out that she has an 11 year old daughter before walking off. Um, am I the only one that thinks the kid is most likely Aaron's? Why he didn't ask that question is beyond me.

What the hell is in the elevator? A giant Robot? A monster? A ghost? Or just a really  p i s s e d  off Randall? Can't be Randall, he's back in the company of Monroe. And it really can't be any of the other things that I mentioned because this is "reality" based. Right? Right? I dunno. I like the episode. It was a good showcase for Tom as the "good guy", which is basically more of the same as he was when he was a bad guy. Same guy, different team. I look forward to when Monroe is killed and Tom takes over once and for all.

This show isn't shy about killing off characters and I'm not referring to extra's or background actors either. I'm talking about recurring characters that have a part to play in the show. So, another one bites the dust. Referring to Jeremy, the right-hand man of Monroe. I was also certain they were going to kill off Jason. Not sure what's going to happen with Nora. Most likely Monroe will torture her for an episode or two before they kill her off. They can't keep having characters getting captured and then rescued all the time because it's going to slow down the narrative.

Jim went all 'Alpha' on Miles' ass. I'm not surprised they got rid of the character. That seems to be the order of the day. I guess they want to keep their little gang of actors somewhat small and just let second tier players come in for a few and then leave. As for Nora, I was somewhat shocked that they didn't even do a whole episode of torture her. Sure, they sped the timeline up to 21 days before she ****. But I figured they would have milked it for a whole episode. The ending was somewhat intriguing. Is Rachel really going to sacrifice herself with a grenade in killing Monroe? Nah. There is an 'out' waiting around the corner. My guess is that Aaron will botch this up, allowing Monroe to escape while a distracted Rachel curse's Aaron's name.

Interesting turn of events with Monroe, although I think his turn to the "good" side is more about self preservation than anything else. But with him out of play....for the time being, this is going to open the door for Tom to assume control of the Militia and rule it the way he wants to. Jason will of course object to this....at first. But I can see him adopting this new regime and becoming second in command, which of course will put him and Charlie at odds with each other. Very interested to see what becomes of that mini-society living underneath the Tower.

Interesting cliffhanger. So, they managed to get down to Level 12 and actually turn the power on, which I was expecting to fail at the 11th hour. But when all the lights came on, I immediately started "writing" what Season 2 would be. Well, that lasted all of 20 seconds when Randall appeared out of nowhere in the war  room and launched to missiles (K'm guessing Nukes), heading to Philly and Atlanta. I don't see how anyone will be able to stop impact. We shall see. I thought it was kind of funny that it was revealed that the "real" President of the United States Colony had what I'm guessing is the "White House" at Gitmo. Haha. Poor Nora. I kinda saw this coming. The writers really dropped the ball on her character and didn't give her anything to do.
