Jupiter Ascending - Official Teaser Trailer

Looks interesting. But because The Wachowskis are involved in this, my expectations will be tempered. If you think about it, they haven't done anything great since the first Matrix. And if you really want to get technical, Bound is the only other movie of theirs that delivers. This will be a Waiting For DVD Release for me. My fear is that the plot for this one is going to be convoluted and blown out of proportion.

Well, I don't know if I brought up my indecision about seeing this thing theatrically or on disc, but I think like KIngsmen I'll let fate decide.  I just got a thing for a free advance screening of the flick, but it's too far away from my house.  If I get one that's local, I'll use it.  if not, I'll wait on word of mouth.  I'm not dumb enough to pass up free.

I've heard that it looks amazing visually.....but the story isn't all that and is kind of meh. I will wait for the DVD release and get it from the Library.

I might have explained somewhere else on here about my dillemma, wanting to see the movie on the big screen to appreciate the visuals properly but not being able to take a copious amount of notes or disassemble it for parts, like I can do at home but at the sacrifice of appreciating the grand scale of it.  And I know I say that every movie ticket not bought is money in the bank for a bigger TV, but that's still a long way off and realistically there's a limit to how big that screen can be.  Of course, if I can go for free, that's a complication.

And there's no guarantee that I'll have a lot of notes to take, I might be able to run off my thoughts from memory when I get out of the theater, like I do during film festivals.  But I might miss little things.  And, surprisingly, I might like it.  I did like Cloud Atlas.  But if it's  a movie I only see once, I want that viewing to be as useful as possible.

Sometimes it sucks being this kind of person.

Okay, saw the movie in the theater and it looked great... it wasn't the big big theater, but it was on a more than decent sized screen (I must remember that "8" is acceptable) and in 3D.  I don't remember if the movie was SHOT in 3D but it certainly looked good (and I prefer SF movies in 3D, it helps push the idea that the flick is in a different world).

And the chase scene, the main reason I saw the flick?  outstanding.  Until they get into the space ship, honestly, it felt like the sort of thing Superman was supposed to give us: dude flying through the city, being blasted by bad guys, saving the girl, and shot in the magic hour.  Outstanding.

I lucked out that I had a LOT to say about this movie afterwards in my notes, but I wasn't sitting through the movie wishing I could write down my thoughts, which was my big concern.  I had issues with the movie, sure, but sitting on them and playing with them later gave me some insight into why the movie worked when it worked and why it failed where it failed.

Verdict?  Uh, interesting.

And it's going to look **** AMAZING on a giant TV.  Expect that this is gonna be the "show off" movie at Best Buys and other electronics stores in a couple months (that and Big Hero 6).
