Are you kidding?  A big problem with the prequels was because there were WAY too many holdovers from the original trilogy: Tatooine, Palpatine, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, Jango Fett, another princess, Yoda all over the place, ships that looked like the classic ships but without any personality to them, R2D2 and C3PO yukkin' it up all over the place, Stormtroopers runnin' around everywhere... it was connected WAY too much to the old trilogy, and it didn't do ANYTHING interesting with it (I will say that while I've only read a few issues, the Knights of the Old Republic did a SW prequel in a truly interesting fashion, taking what we knew and playing around with it).  By adhering to all these elements, they switched the feel from being "a ragtag group of renegades in a wide universe" to "everything in the universe centers around this group of d-bags."

And worse, d-bags that can't surprise us, they could have at LEAST put the characters in different roles.  Ob-Wan shouldn't have been the prequel's Obi-Wan, he should have been the prequel's Han Solo.  We know him as smart and wise, so why not show him reckless and full-of-himself and get his butt humbled over the course of the trilogy?  And how about instead of Padme being a bad-butt Queen, which we've already SEEN, why not actually have her BE the handmaiden, who gets Mean Girl sh*t from the rest of the official staff until she decides "f*ck this" and goes off on her own.  "Who wants to be a princess?"  Anakin... well, he has to be a Jedi, but... I don't know, once they said he built 3PO and that podracer, I kept thinking... why not have him be the tech guy?  He's not the MAIN Jedi, he can fight, but he's more of a planner and builder.  That way you can have a totally new protagonist that the audience doesn't know, that COULD die or could survive or... who knows?

We don't need Luke, Han, Leia, and Chewy.  We need a protagonist thrown into the deep end into a strange and exciting universe, going on this great quest with just the help of a few friends he makes along the way and by a growing education in a strange and mystical Force.  Everything else is just trappings.
