Every time I consider watching the original trilogy (it's been years and years), this sort of thing pops up to remind me I have no idea what I'm actually looking at.  It's this kind of nonsense that tells me we need a new Star Wars, not a new Star Wars movie, but a new franchise, so we don't have to worry about this nonsense.

It is interesting to see just the insane amount of work restoring a flick can be, and crazier too is the fact that while it's normally done by film studios, this is being done by fans for free.  If the rightsholders have any brains whatsoever, they'd pay these guys to finish their work and put out a limited release.  There's a market for it, might as well make some money off it.

It's really funny to see the digital still camera attached to the film projector.  I kinda figured that film got scanned in like on a flatbed scanner, but that-- that works too, evidently.  There must be, like, a hard drive or something attached to the camera collecting all those stills (can you imagine how much SPACE that would take?  And what resolution are the stills, I think I saw 5.0 Megapixels on there!)

That's movie magic.  Very nice story, thanks for sharing, I hadn't heard it.

Well, Simon Pegg was in Mission Impossible and Star Trek... and he was the voice of Threepio on Phineas And Ferb, so I wouldn't be surprised if he was slipped into the movie somewhere.

I just can't say it enough in how grateful I am that this new Trilogy is going to be all about practical effects instead of CGI-heavy scenes. But getting back to the story, they nailed it by pinpointing that it feels more "real" because of the on-set interaction between Mark and Yoda. Couldn't be more correct about that.

Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens Official Teaser Trailer

It wasn't much, it is after all....a teaser. But it had me grinning from ear to ear and begging for more. The teaser itself was better than anything we got with the prequels.

It was fine... the Millenium Falcon doing that hard bank was cool, I guess, but...I'm not super psyched or anything, I guess I thought it would feel like more of a big deal or something like that.  It just felt like they were recreating Star Wars more than making a new one, you know?  I keep thinking of the Empire teaser, where it was just concept art, but that felt like "here's the Star Wars you loved, and the new places they're going" and I feel like we should have gotten this time.

Or imagine it was like a Pixar teaser like the Monsters Inc one ("That's not Magnolia, it's Mongolia, does this look like Mongolia to you?"), The Incredibles, or even Big Hero 6... imagine if the teaser was just Daisy/Kira talking to that soccer ball robot or something, make us love her, then make us realize she's the next Luke Skywalker.

Fans View New Star Wars Trailer

From what I've seen by way of comments online, the teaser has been hit or miss and I was expecting that. I think they are saving the good sh*t for obvious reasons for the full length trailer that gives us Luke, Leia and Han. That's when sh*t is gonna blow up and get people frothing at the mouth.

Over on Sploid, they've collected all the leaked art for Episode VII and the start of the story is beginning to gel together in my mind.  Wonder how accurate I am.
