Why The First Star Wars: The Force Awakens Screening Was Horrifying

I will never understand why any director would show an unfinished cut of a film to anyone. Yes, I get that the Big Wigs need to see that the movie is on point and all....but it's still a dumb way to "sell it" to them, especially without FX in it.

It seems like a weird time to show it to them... if it was TERRIBLE, it's too late to do anything about it, but if it's good it's still incomplete.

You know, I was worried by your title that it might have been a general audience screening, which would have been INSANE.

For the past 3 days I have been seeing a bunch of articles being written touting Spoilers. This is p*ssing me off. As soon as I see anything Star Wars related with Spoilers or Secrets in the title, I close it out. I hate that Yahoo is feeding this and making it impossible for me to avoid this. Why do people want to go out of their way to spoil it for everyone else? I'm gonna do my best to stay away, but I suspect that once the movie hits and everything is confirmed, it's going to be unavoidable be it on the net, TV, or magazine covers.

Sigh.

I believe it was Chrome that has an extension you can get that blocks out all Star Wars spoilers.  It should be on Firefox if it already isn't.

I just added it on Chrome. It works....but it works a little too well. I was hoping that it would just block he articles. What it does (you probably already know this), it blocks the entire page, covering up regular news feeds and what not. Is this the same extension or is there another one?

FYI, it even blocks Penny Can every time I go to a new page. Stormtroopers be damed!! Ack!! I just checked, this is the only extension. Oh well, looks like I'm blocking everything from here on out.  ;)

Just happened upon this, article on io9 linking to the anti-cheese re-edits of the prequels on Youtube.  MIGHT check these out.  Not sure.  But if that's the kind of thing you might want to do (I'm going into, not lockdown, but I'm severely limiting my SW input so I don't get burned out before the release of the new one.  I'm not even gonna watch the originals.  I shouldn't even NEED to, right?

I fully intend on watching the Original Trilogy. I've been itching to watch them for the past 2 months. Not sure when I will actually watch them though because I don't intend on seeing The Force Awakens during the onslaught when it drops. I'm not doing that sh*t anymore. I really wish this was a VOD option as my Home Theater and TV blows away any setup I would get outside my house. Suck it AMC!

I wouldn't mind seeing The Force Awakens for the first time on one of those gorgeous big TVs that they have in that little room in Best Buy, the big curved 4K screens (and a big cozy black leather chair).  I'm not getting into an IMAX screen anyway, right?

I will say, the "little" set I watch is fine, but I kept thinking that I wanted something bigger, but I sit so close to it, I was watching the next size up @ Best Buy at near the same distance and the picture was artifacted all to heck, so that's out.

Oh here's a time-saver:

all six Star Wars movies playing at once.  Was just gonna link to it but it didn't let me, so embedded insteaded.

I'm sure it's not the first time it's happened, either.  It's just timely now.

Okay, I'm also going to admit, despite my self-dictated blackout, I picked up the first Star Wars graphic novel (I got one for my brother for Xmas, so I picked up one for myself0 and I quite dug it.  Really did feel like an extension of the movie, though if I have one issue, it's that almost everything is medium or close-up shots... there aren't any awe-inspiring vistas or neat new things, so in that regards it doesn't FEEL like watching a movie, even though all the characters look perfect.

Ya know as ridiculous that is, I'm willing to bet a lot of people dig that. With all the multi-tasking, this kind of movie watching is right up their ally.

You know, being carpet-bombed with SW for so long, I didn't even realize it comes out in a few days.  It's just been 100% hype for so long, I totally failed to realize that.

Oh, I realized that it was just around the corner. I also realized that I wore my Star Wars pajama's to the post office this morning with my Chewie slippers on.  ;D  :P
