I think it's an alternate timeline where the Terminator's descend on Doc Brown. And that HK you pointed out.....it's just Marty in a new, souped up version of the Delorean;D

How Terminator Genisys Will Use an 67-year Old Arnold T-800

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jF_xywhd9eM&index=8&list=UUVRryjitgzUEtDJRYf58kfA

Kim is a horrible "anchor" or whatever you want to call it. She's clearly out of her depth whenever the camera is on her and watching her fumble her way through this was painful. Why didn't they use Ana for this "story". I know, it's a stretch to call this a story, but it is newsworthy and people are definitely talking about it. Because of that, TYT should go with their best On-Air personalities, hence, Ana. With that out of the way, what James Cameron said is spot-on and was alluded to in the extended scene in T2 if memory is failing you. I also like the idea that just because they are changing it up in this new movie, that it doesn't necessarily wipe out the existence of what has come before. Just different, alternate realities that can definitely be "put back on course" down the road with future films. Kind of like a "What If" scenario. Well, we f*cked up 3 times. We couldn't kill Sarah. We couldn't kill John and we couldn't kill Kate. Lets try a different approach this time and go back and make Sarah an orphan, raise her and see how that plays out.

By the way, I reeeeeeeeeeeally hope that Robert Patrick returns as the T-1000, lives next door to Sarah Conner and plays the sidekick to Arnold's T-800 and are bowling buddies. Want to see them get drunk in the movie and talk about how they'd tap the Terminatrix and whatnot.  ;D Now that I think about it, they should just do a 'Buddy Cop' version of the Terminator where they get into hijinxs in trying to foil a heist that takes place in Cyberdyne;)

I think I just found my next writing project. Stay tuned........

I remember at one point there was an idea that we would see Robert Patrick as the guy inventing the T-1000... it'd just be a ball o liquid metal floating in the air, but at one point it would morph into the T-1000's original face and talk to him.

Terminator: Genisys Official Sneak Peek #1

A "trailer" to announce a Trailer. A bit redundant, don't you think? With that said, bring on the real thing. Not holding my breath that it will be anything longer than 30 seconds.

It's Clickbait for films, is what it is.  I'm kinda sick of it, but honestly, I wouldn't have had any idea that the trailer was about to come out if it wasn't for this little video.

Now for the actual content:

* I'm actually kinda psyched to see the T-1000 again.  I think it might be Byung-hun Lee, which should be distinctive enough (I just remembered that we had sen a female T-1001 in The Sarah Conner Chronicles, so I guess it hasn't been THAT long since I've seen one of those things.

* I'm honestly thinking of this more like a pastiche and tribute more than an actual movie, there's really nothing to add to the whole Terminator mythos, but there are bits from the last two flicks I liked, so in my mind this is a freebie, it doesn't count, so they can try whatever they want and be redundant or out there or whatever they want.  It's just a movie.

Terminator: Genisys Official Trailer #1

Okay, I'm seriously in need of a second opinion here. My initial reaction to the trailer is that this looks horrible. I don't know if my knee-jerk reaction to this has anything to do with being very protective of the first two Terminator films and the actors that portrayed them. I don't know if my biased views is tainting this at all. So, I ask you guys if you are seeing and getting the same thing I am or I'm overreacting here. Maybe it's just a sh*tty trailer that was rushed out and they didn't have enough time to edit it better in a way to really sell the new idea on me. I will watch the trailer again and see if anything stands out or if this improves in any capacity for me.

So, I’m telling myself. Ignore Chips concerns. Ignore my overall gut feeling about Terminator: Genisys, and just watch what they present us. Go in with a clear head.

Not impressed. Some of the CGI was mediocre at best. And every scene in that trailer seemed contained some Déjà vu elements. Nothing seemed particularly new to me. And that is going to be my major go to… A good story. Genisys may have a new perspective and an interesting end, but if they fill the rest of the flick with Terminator formula stuff, my enthusiasm will wane.

And while fan boys are probably gonna love Arnie coming back, I rolled my eyes… seriously. You had to say I’ll Be Bach? Again? Really?

Note: We all know trailers are notorious for selling us something different. We unfortounately have to wait for the final product to come out. Then I need to hear an overwhelming hell yes, or Oh hell no.

I watched it again and to be honest, it was worse than my initial viewing. Will this keep me from checking out the movie? If course not. But I absolutely will not be seeing this in the theater, which I was on the fence doing. I will just wait for the DVD release. As for the content of what they gave us in the trailer, what I'm taking away from it is that Genisys is an alternate "reality" set within the original Terminator. That's the only thing I can think of to explain why one scene in particular has the "original" , albeit CGI Arnie T-800 version at the Observatory with Grandpa Arnie T-800. It looks like a showdown between himself and......him.......self. FYI, Arnie Terminator with shock-white hair is the most disturbing thing I will see in 2014/2015. Sigh. And yes, I noticed a handful of scenes that were either shot for shot remakes or taken direct from the original films.

My thoughts:

* I've stopped giving a d*mn about CGI in trailers because I know it's all rudimentary... the effects artists don't know what's going into the trailer until the last minute, and the shots are all in-progress.  So I'm holding off judgement on that.  So a complaint about bad CGI in a trailer, especially in one for a movie that doesn't come out for six months, is a pointless complaint.

* I don't think that's a CGI Arnold at the observatory, i think it's a shot from the 80s movie (it looks SO out of place), then the other angle is a body double (maybe Roland Kickinger again).

* I love the first two Terminator flicks as much as anyone, and there's no way you can add onto them or improve upon them.  So if they MUST make more Terminator flicks (they must, they must), I appreciate going f*cking nuts and trying something new rather than trying to squeeze in something that doesn't fit (like T3).  And the idea of going back and screwing up the original flicks is exactly the sort of thing *I* would do if I had my hands on the franchise.

* This also seems like the first Terminator flick that's a proper time travel flick... in the first three, time travel was just used to explain the motivations and so on, but this is the first one that said "you know what, let's use time travel SMARTLY and beat the bad guys to the punch!"  I can't believe it took them this long to think of shooting the first bad guy the second he arrived!

* I wasn't ready Khaleesi as Khaleesi at all.

* I didn't see Matt Smith anywhere in the trailer... or if I did, he didn't register as Matt Smith at all.

* There's so much in this trailer, you know, like they're jamming in all the Terminator movies together (the stuff in the future looked too much like "Salvation" for my tastes, I liked the cold blue model+greenscreen feel of T2), but I think that the trailer should have looked like a remake of the first movie.  Lull us into a false sense of security, then changed sh*t up on us.  Shot for shot remake, then throw us for a loop and leave us reeling.  Look at the T2 full-length trailer:

It's real simple, and it's just one "oh sh*t!" revelation after another.  "Oh sh*t, the Terminator's back!" "Oh sh*t, he's after the kid!" "Oh sh*t, he's the good guy!" "Oh sh*t, that other machine is insanely advanced!" and finally "Oh sh*t, I gotta see this movie."

Maybe it's a thing where they have to prove to everyone their flick is good because the last two were garbage and they wind up overcompensating, maybe it's studio pressure, maybe it's just the fact that the saavy audience already knows so much about it already... I dunno.

We also have to deal with the fact that T1 and T2 are simple premises, while this thing is... wild.  All over the place.  They needed to boil it down.  It sounds more like a crazy man's ramblings, or how I sound when I'm talking about something I'm in the process of making.  A trailer, especially a teaser, should be an invitation.  The "what if."  This isn't that.

I'm waiting for the inevitable Rewind Trailer that IGN does for specific movies just like this. I'm sure it will be up sometime later today/tonight.

Isn't it technically already a "rewind" trailer, with the time travel and all?

* Okay, seeing your avatar, I gotta ask: how would you react if Summer/Cameron was in the flick?

I'd buy a tent, plant it in front of chosen theater and then wait 6 months for the movie to drop. She's the only one that can make me do sh*t like this. I know I just got finished with my Terminator marathon a few months back, but she was fun to watch in the Sarah Conner Chronicles. Me likey her and is why I want to watch the series again. Now.  :)
