I'm torn, if I see a flick like that, I want it to be with a big audience, and I'm sure the fam will want to see it as well and want me around so they can ask questions "...who's THAT?" "where are they?" "is the guy with the mask Darth Vader?" "why is everyone laughing at that line?" etc.

I really wonder if, if it comes to it, I can actually wait an extra four or five months and see the flick for the first time on Blu-Ray.  I've done it before.  Doing it for Terminator.  The real issue is being able to avoid spoilers and so on, I wanna be fresh when I see the flick for the first time.  I'm at the point now where I can piece together what a movie will be based on very little information, and the internet is nothing if not awash with Star Wars information.  I'll have to keep my head low.

I've been very good at avoiding spoilers so I have been able to wait it out until the DVD release. But for Star Wars, I fear it's going to be next to impossible to avoid any and all spoilers and for that reason I'm weighing my options of where and when I will see the flick. Hell, if I don't hear any spoilers within a few days after release, I may feel confident to push back seeing it.

I lucked out back in the day and saw the first rebooted Star Trek a week before release.  Oh let lightning strike twice, cinema gods...

Article in The Hollywood Reporter: How Tracking Went Off The Rails.  An interesting read, the jist of which seems to be that you can't get away with a bad flick with great promotion anymore.   Oh if only that were true.

**** tracking. I guess they have to come up with some kind of scale to figure out their position. And I'm guessing it mostly aligned with the word of mouth, rottentomatoes, etc of the past.

But reading through that article, it seemed pretty obvious to me, a bad film is a bad film.

Did i read, they thought by cutting out the early marketing, they would inherently stop the word of mouth? Isn't this fooling themselves? Also it's a double edge sword. A good film would not gain buzz.

This stuff kills me. Something similar happened at a company I worked at. The company projected a 22 million dollar profit for the year. It did not. It made 19 million, so it was classified as a dismal failure to the stockholders. They had massive layoffs to get better numbers. How do have something that makes a profit, just not the profit you expect , thus making it a failure? Give me a break.

Chip's Future Wife joins her current husband in CHiPs reboot.

Didn't appreciate how wide K-Bell's cinema footprint was until I saw it in the article... she does do a lot of different things.

There's a Peanuts flick coming out in the next month or so... I haven't really given it too much thought, it looks cute and all, but when I went to the theater today, I glanced up above the ticket window and there was Pigpen looking down at me.  Any time in the past it would be a flat drawing of Pigpen, but in that moment, I was struck... that's actual Pigpen.  And I looked and there were other characters about, and I had this thought where "they could exist in the same space as me."

I don't know why that struck me.  There have been 3D cartoons before, fantastic looking ones that look like they could fit into our real world, and there have been 2D cartoons that have been given the 3D treatment.  Why were these different?  Is it because I've been reading Peanuts since I was a kid?  Cause I had the books in my hand and had that direct connection to them?  Is it because of the inherent personalities?  I dunno.

Will I be seeing this in the theater?  I don't know that either.  I can imagine seeing it on a giant 4K tv... that feels like it would be a more apt recreation of that direct connection, having the characters in the house.

According to Variety, there's going to be a Phil Hartman biopic with Daran Norris playing Hartman himself.  This is brilliant casting as far as I'm concerned, Norris is cut from the exact same cloth.

Well, the movie was on my radar and I'm only mildly interested in it (I like aliens and Chloe Moretz), but this article about what really inspired the fifth wave is actually making me think.

Let's take a break from the more serious side of politics, and focus on the lighter side with the trailer for Elvis & Nixon.
