Beach Boys 50th Anniversary

Beach Boys Plan Anniversary Blowout With Likely Reunion Tour

I'm happy to see that the surviving members have put aside their differences and agreed to unify the 2 existing "Beach Boys" bands into one. And the big news is that Brian Wilson will be a part of the Album and Reunion. That's huge. I have a vested interest in these guys because they were my first concert I ever went to. I hope they come through my way, because I'm so gonna go to this concert for sure.

The Beach Boys was one of my daughters favorite bands. I took my brother to his first concert with the Beach Boys. And there's nothing better to hear some of their songs in warm weather.

I have often wondered though how you could sing the same songs over and over so many years and be into it. (shrug)

I was afraid of that comment. Have you seen Mike Love sing in the last couple of decades. OHMYGAWD, he could not be any more distant if he tried. Going through the motions.

Yeah. The last couple of performances I caught on TV and YouTube, he was definitely on autopilot. Maybe with the band finally back together again, it's going to rejuvenate him.

Together? Mid 80's with Dennis Wilson still alive and on drums.

Beach Boys - California Girls & Help Me Rhonda

Actually, I think the last time I saw them all together was for Live Aid.

So they've gone back into the studio to re-record 'Do It Again" a fine song. Why? Dunno.

Jardine also says that the group will present a diverse setlist. "We haven't played together in a long time," he says. "The fans are going to want to hear the hits. But there should also be lesser-known ones that are so important."

Earlier this year, the Beach Boys went into the studio to re-record their 1968 classic "Do It Again" for a planned new album. (Watch a video clip of the session above.) Jardine says that additional studio sessions are booked for this month. "It sounded so good we just decided to continue," he says. "There are some new things that Brian has come up with that are really remarkable. 'Do It Again' was done in an afternoon. These songs will take a little more putting our heads together."

Guitarist David Marks played with the Beach Boys between early 1962 and late 1963. He rejoined the touring line-up in 1997, but left two years later due to health problems. "I'm really looking forward to celebrating this important milestone in the Beach Boys' history with the other guys, and with Capitol Records – where it all began 50 years ago," he said in a statement. "It means a lot to me that we can all reunite and pay tribute to the fans who have kept the music alive."

The Beach Boys have been touring in different camps ever since the death of Carl Wilson in 1998. They've exchanged numerous lawsuits and nasty comments in the press, but Mike Love says that negativity is all behind them. "All that stuff is long forgotten," he tells Rolling Stone.

Anyway, in support of the 51st 50th anniversary, they will put out a new album.

Fifty freakin years!!!

The Beach Boys use to come to San Diego a lot. But with this new tour, I'm not gonna get my hopes up they will come around this time. I hope they do, but I have a bad feeling the closest they will get here will be in LA. If that's the case, then they better be doing a DVD Concert release in the future so I can experience this one way or another.

Beach Boys To Perform For The First Time In More Than 20 Years At The Grammys With Maroon 5 And Foster The People

I'm only tuning in to the Grammys for this performance. Hopefully something memorable comes out of this.

I believe Adele is going to perform too. I asked my wife to let me know when she performs.

Also on the Grammys performance roster this year? The Civil Wars, Maceo Parker, Diana Krall, and Joe Walsh. For those of you keeping track, the current performance lineup looks like this: Adele; Tony Bennett and Carrie Underwood; Glen Campbell, the Band Perry, and Blake Shelton; Coldplay and Rihanna; Foo Fighters, deadmau5, David Guetta, Chris Brown, and Lil Wayne in a tribute to dance music; Jason Aldean and Kelly Clarkson; Alicia Keys and Bonnie Raitt paying homage to Etta James; Bruno Mars; Paul McCartney; Nicki Minaj; Katy Perry; Bruce Springsteen; and Taylor Swift.

Oh and Joe Walsh  ;D
