Concert Posters
« on: December 29, 2011, 01:52:22 pm »
I am pretty excited. I just snatched up this Kansas Mini-poster, that I will mat, frame and hang in my office to help completer the total decor of the room.

2001 KANSAS JAPAN TOUR CONCERT FLYER

What I love about this, is Kansas is one of my fav groups, it shows almost all the covers, it shows the band, the typical logo, and to make it a little exotic a Japanese print.

Online: eBay

I got it yesterday and it's perfect (can't believe it came so quick from Tokyo, Japan). Great colors, nice paper stock.

Anyway, now I need to do a great job of framing it. Any thoughts are welcome. I'm pretty sure I'm going to mat it with an oversize. The mini-poster is 7" X 10", so I'm thinking of at least 3" of mat all around. I'll pick one of the colors out of the poster... or black or white. Dunno. I'll also offset it. with maybe a 4" or more bottom.

But I'd like to do more. Maybe some unique mat cutting? Not sure about the frame either.

as an example of what I'm thinking.

What I use to do is buy those "plexi glass" frames with the 4 slide-on edges that are made out of plastic whenever I would get a new Movie Poster. They run about 20 bucks each. It's cheap and quick. The downside that I've seen about them first hand is that after awhile (usually after a year or so depending on the weather and humdity), they begin to warp and then the bottom slide usually falls off. So, definitely spend a little more money and get a proper frame that's going to last. I wish I knew about this warping before I shelled out the bucks for a handful of these. Bah.

As always, post some pics when you have them ready for display. Would like to see the end results for sure.

Pretty cool selection there. I have a Movie/Music Poster/Frame Shop just down the street I hit every once in awhile. HUGE selection. It actually takes a good half hour just to go through all the new stuff that comes in. These are original one sheets and range anywhere from 25 bucks upwards of 75 bucks. I'll see if I can find the link for the shop and post here.

The price on frames and glass are nice. It's AMAZING what you can spend on a good mat and frame job.

Well, I'm done for now. Got the poster and took it to the frame store, and well, let's just say, the expense of what I was envisioning just wasn't worth it. I found some very nice frames and mats and decided on this nice little number with double offset mat, that highlights the poster nicely.

I still have more room for other idea's that come, but for now, I'm satisfied.

That's actually better than I thought it would turn out to be. I was envisioning the poster more or less being flushed with the edges. But I really like the matte that frames the poster within. Good job, Dude.
