Helix (Walkin' The Razor's Edge) 1984

Long before Gwen Stefani and Hollaback Girl, there was Helix and Rock You. Yes, it's been described as a heavy metal version of a Cheer-leading song. No, it's not as cheesy as it sounds. I actually think it still holds up rather well after all these years and adds to it's charm. Back in the day it was their biggest hit and got a lot of radio airplay here, but it's far from their best stuff. Walkin' The Razor's Edge is a product of it's time. But where the majority of albums that came out during this era, this album as a whole never really should have been lumped in with the other hair bands of the day. It doesn't sound like what you would it expect as it's hard edge with some good bite to the guitars and bass, and the songs are infinitely more memorable.

All in all, a great band that produced a great album and I never get tired of listening to it. Brian Vollmer has a great voice and Paul Hackman and Brent "The Doctor" Doerner made a great duel guitar team. Daryl Gray and Greg "Fritz" Hinz kept a pretty good pocket on Bass and Drums for the rest of the band to play over. If there is one criticism I have about the album it's the mix. The drums at times does get buried and isn't as full as it should have been.

Fave Songs: Rock You, Animal House, Gimme Gimme Good Lovin', My Kind Of Rock and Make Me Do (Anything You Want).

Album cover phucking rocks. It just looks so damn cool.

This is easily their best album and gets my vote in the Poll.
