I don't know "hottest of all time," but dang.


So, history: the hook of this song I heard when I was a kid, it's from something older than this track.  I never knew the name, and the last time I heard it was in 1998 (or so) in a commercial for a compilation CD.  So I'd been looking for that commercial since, thanks to youtube and so on.  No luck.  Then I manage to get a small walk in today and put on an old playlist that I hadn't sorted through yet and all of a sudden: I hear the melody.  I'd had it on my iPod for at least 8 years and didn't know it.  Nuts.

Now this isn't the actual song.  I did some digging and found that melody was used in another song, and that's the one I was looking for, Reach Up by Perfecto Allstars:


The fact that this music video is stupid and the song is annoying and repetitive in no way diminishes my elation at wrapping up this loose end.
