KISS (Dynasty) 1979

Dynasty Poster Insert

Dynasty by all accounts should suck, especially after the opening song I Was Made For Lovin' You, a clear attempt at cashing in on the Disco craze to win over new fans. Um....it didn't work and in the process they lost a ton of members from the KISS Army. The song now is a huge hit during the set list, but I personally just can't listen to it anymore. They need to put that one to bed once and for all IMO.

What follows after this song is pretty damn good. Starting with Ace Frehley's cover version of The Rolling Stones song 2,000 Man, which gets the MVP award for the album.

Now it's time to explain why this album is included in the poll when I said that Love Gun was the last with the original members. By the time the band got around to recording Dynasty, a certain person was happily self medicating themself. I'm speaking of course about Peter Criss. He was so f*cked up which drastically affected his drumming that he was excused from the process. The only song he was allowed to play on was his own called Dirty Livin', which absolutely sucks btw.

His replacement would be Anton Fig. He would later go on to be a part of Paul Shaffer's band on The David Letterman Show, as well as eventually working with Ace Frehley on his post-KISS solo albums. But getting back to Anton. He was never given credit for his playing on the album and once again, KISS felt the need to pull a fast one on us by saying this was a "KISS" record when in fact it was not.  At the time, this is what I believe to be true. Such a little kid.

Also of note, Ace, after his monster success with his solo album, now got to sing 3 songs on the same KISS album. Unheard of at the time.

Fave Songs: 2,000 Man, Charisma, Magic Touch, Hard Times, X-Ray Eyes and Save Your Love

Freebie insert trend continues with a full size Dynasty wall poster. And the album cover still kicks ass IMO.
