Sorry to burst your bubble, but that isn't Peter behind the kit. Look closer. It's John Bonham!!!!!

KISS (Gene Simmons) 1978

What the hell! So, I am in the middle of reading KISS: Behind The Mask, and I'm reading about Gene's solo album. They have each member of KISS rate all of their albums, and Gene gives his 1 Star out of 5. Paul give's Gene's solo effort 2 Stars. And Ace's gives it 3 Stars. Hey, they may be professionals and even played on the album, but Gene doesn't know diddly squat! I'm sticking with 4 1/2 Stars!!!!! Suck it!

hahahaha Gene rated it that low.

well what you said the other day is true...and something the guy does NOT get proper credit for.

He doesn't cling to the past....he's a great song writer so he's always looking towards new ideas and even though he knows KISS fans want the old stuff...at least he isn't stuck in the past that way.

I'd give his album 4 stars (maybe even a touch higher)....I think it's really great.

KISS (Ace Frehley) 1978

Ugh. I seriously don't get why Paul and Gene still have to knock Ace down at any chance they get. I'm now reading about Ace's solo album and Paul rates it a 3 and Gene as well. Gene has gone on record in the press as well as earlier in the book saying Ace's album was the absolute best of all the members and yet Gene gives him a 3 star rating out of 5? Dude, own up to the fact that his album blows your album and everyone else's out of the water. Stop contradicting yourself and give the man his due. F u c k!

I'm still 100% behind giving Ace's 10  f u c k i n g  stars, damn it!! It's THAT  f u c k i n g  good!!!

I agree...he basically made a perfect album and not only that...his cover of New York Groove might be one of the most popular KISS songs behind Rock and Roll All Nite, and Beth.

you agree?

I personally love Rip It Out and Speeding Back to My Baby....but that's more songs I think are super cool.

New York Groove is TOTALLY up there with the best KISS songs ever. It's funny how you and I can debate the merits of them as players and musicians to the end of time, but how can we give credible proof that everyone that dismisses them is wrong when the band members continually tear down what Ace brought to the band and his own album? Gene and Paul want to be respected (even if they don't admit it anyone) by their peers and yet here they are, giving "Rock Journalist and Critics" proof to suggest otherwise. Ugh!!

It's  f u c k i n g  ridiculous and it  p i s s e s  me off.

yeah it does suck.

I mean they are solid rock musicians, great road warriors up there with Metallica, Iron Maiden and all this bands who can tour forever and not die.

and I mean...they've written easly 50+ super memorable songs...maybe more....how many bands can claim that?

KISS (Peter Criss) 1978

Let me preface this by saying I absolutely love the sound of Peter's singing voice and he has cranked out some fantastic songs like Black Diamond, Hard Luck Woman, Baby Driver, Mainline and Beth just to name a few. I've worshipped the guy since discovering the band way back when and I enjoy listening to him talk in interviews. But he is clearly delusional to give his own album 5 Stars out of 5. Dude, not everything you do is a hit. Even Paul and Gene at least own up to the fact that they don't always put out quality songs. So to say that Peter's solo album is 5 Stars is not what I would call being objective here. Come on. But then again, he gives Paul, Gene and Ace 5 Stars as well. There's a line that's being stepped over and there is not clear perception of what he think his album is. It's kinda like lumping his record with theirs and that by association his album is just as good. It's not.

Ace gives Peter's album 3 Stars and both Paul and Gene give it 0 Stars. Ouch. I give it 1 Star for one of the songs...kinda and 1 Star for having the best looking cover. But 5 Stars? No way. I just think having such a HUGE hit with Beth has clouded his head a bit. I mean if I actually wrote and sang Beth myself, I'd probably react the same way.

hhahahahaha

I love that Paul and Gene gave it 0 stars....that's so mean.

hahahaha

but rightfully so...it's not a very good record...and I will go so far as to say I don't think its a very good record for what in fact Peter might deem it worthy of.

I've listened to Jazz and Big Band....his record still blows.

I'll even listen to it tomorrow while working to confirm my opinion and I will go into it with a totally open mind...and as always I hope I actually DO like it.

we'll see.

I'd give Paul's record 4 out of 5...genes 4.5 out of 5...ace 5 out of 5/ and right now...Peter would barely get 1 star.

I will bet you a half full jar of quarters that I will be able to hear you screaming from over here while you are listening to Peter's solo album.

KISS (Dynasty) 1979

Okay, still reading about Dynasty in KISS: Behind The Mask and it's pretty eye opening to learn that the cover is compiled of two separate photo shoots and that Paul's in particular was culled from 3 different shoots to make up his image alone. I've always thought it was just the four of them in a room, one photo and done.

Also, Peter is response to Gene talking about "those that you think play instruments on KISS albums aren't really who you would think it is", is saying that Ace played a lot of of the bass parts. I knew he did some, but not as many as Peter is saying he did. Peter goes one step further in saying that when his book comes out he will name all the songs and who played what.

Um, Peter, can you kindly finish your book please? I've been waiting for 15 years. Getting sleepy. Can't stay awake much longer..........

KISS (Unmasked) 1980

Well, well, well. Paul and Gene finally agree with me on something. They both give Unmasked 1 Star. After reading that, I knew that Ace was going to give it a higher rating. 3 1/2 Stars to be exact. Hmmmm....it wouldn't have anything to do with him having 3 songs on the album would it? Ace does have the best songs on it for sure, but it's still the worst KISS album with the "original" members.
