Well, I'm hesitant with electronica too. It was sometime back one of the members of a music forum like this absolutely loved electronica. He even sent me Joe Walsh's Lifes Been Good electronica-zed. Awful, just plain WTF.
That's the thing, when it's electronica at its purest form and what I would call mind-numbing absurdity, it will be awful. But when it's done right, using the basics of it and transforming it into an art form, it can be a thing of beauty. Taking an existing classic like
Life's Been Good and mixing it with electronica is doomed to fail. I don't even have to listen to it to know it's not going to be good. That's the problem with electronica as a whole. DJ's take old classics and remixed with with the new genre style and butcher it. They are just trying to repackage an old song and make it club accessible which is the wrong way to go about it.
I should have been more clear in describing
Ray Of Light's tone. It takes elements of electronica and uses it to work off of rather than being a slave to it.
