Alice Cooper - Welcome 2 My Nightmare (September 13, 2011)

35 freaking years? Good Lord

Quote
Alice Cooper's widely anticipated new album, Welcome 2 My Nightmare, recorded with longtime collaborator Bob Ezrin, who produced the original multi-platinum "Welcome To My Nightmare" album in 1975, picks up right where they left off, with Alice trapped in his own warped mind.

The original release is an all-time rock classic that spawned a worldwide theatrical tour and pioneering U.S. TV special, and certified Alice Cooper as a visionary trailblazer whose influence persists today in rock, metal, pop, punk, theatre, television, film and much more. More than 35 years later, Alice and Ezrin have resurrected the horror and humor for a new generation.

Oh phuck me! I didn't even know about the sticker prices on that. Sheesh! Even the $70 price tag is steep. Sure, you get a lot for what you're paying for. But still.....

Yikes.

Time Machine 2011: Live in Cleveland - RUSH

Not sure I'll get this. Dayum, I already have 3 previous live DVD's  and they are fantastic :-\

edit:added...

Rush Unveil "TIME MACHINE 2011: LIVE IN CLEVELAND"; 2-CD Set Recorded During Legendary Trio's Recent World Tour; Band Simultaneously Release Live Version of Landmark Album "MOVING PICTURES" on Vinyl;

Quote
NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - Sep 20, 2011) - Legendary rock band Rush have announced details for the first offerings through their recently announced partnership with Roadrunner Records. On November 8, Anthem/Roadrunner will simultaneously release a two-disc live album entitled "TIME MACHINE 2011: LIVE IN CLEVELAND" as well as "MOVING PICTURES: LIVE 2011" on vinyl and digital formats.

Captured in April at Cleveland's Quicken Loans Arena during the renowned trio's extensive Time Machine World Tour, "TIME MACHINE 2011: LIVE IN CLEVELAND" marks the band's first live album recorded at a U.S. show, a deliberate nod of gratitude to the first city to support Rush on its radio airwaves. The wildly popular tour featured a set filled with classic hits, fan favorites, and a glimpse into Rush's forthcoming 20th studio album "CLOCKWORK ANGELS." As a centerpiece for the concerts, the band performed their landmark album "MOVING PICTURES" in its entirety -- a first in the band's long and illustrious career. Rave reviews of the tour included The Hollywood Reporter's declaration that "the current Time Machine jaunt is nothing less than a must see... for nearly three hours, with intermission, Rush proved why it remains among rock's elite live acts." Full track listing for "TIME MACHINE 2011: LIVE IN CLEVELAND" attached below.

"MOVING PICTURES: LIVE 2011" marks the first live recording of the band's most successful album to date. Originally released in 1981, this year marks the 30th anniversary of "MOVING PICTURES," which features some of Rush's most well-known songs like "Tom Sawyer," "Limelight," and "YYZ."

In related news, Rush is also releasing "Time Machine 2011: Live In Cleveland" on BluRay and DVD formats on November 8 via Rounder Records in the U.S. and Eagle Rock Entertainment abroad. VH1 will be airing a 2-hour concert culled from the footage as part of their annual "Rushashana" program on September 29. This fall, Rush will be returning to the studio to resume work on their highly anticipated 20th studio album, "CLOCKWORK ANGELS" due out in 2012.

With more than 40 million records sold worldwide and countless sold-out tours, Rush -- Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson, and Neil Peart -- is not only one of the most inventive and compelling groups in rock history, but remains one of the most popular. The RIAA has certified Rush for the third most consecutive gold/platinum studio albums by a rock band, topped only by the Beatles and the Rolling Stones. Rush's vast catalog includes such classics as 1974's self-titled debut, 1976's "2112," 1981's "MOVING PICTURES," 1996's "TEST FOR ECHO," and 2002's "VAPOR TRAILS." Rush's most recent studio album, 2007's "SNAKES & ARROWS," debuted at #3 on the Billboard 200, marking the band's highest chart debut since 1993, as well as their eleventh top 10 album in the U.S. In addition to their commercial success, Rush has also been recognized with a number of Juno Awards and multiple Grammy nominations, including one for the acclaimed documentary "Rush: Beyond The Lighted Stage" at this year's gala event. Enjoying a recent pop culture renaissance, Rush made a rare television appearance -- their first in over 30 years -- on Comedy Central's "The Colbert Report" and a memorable cameo in the film "I Love You, Man." A career-chronicling Rolling Stone feature summed up the renowned rock trio's continuing artistic vitality by observing, "It's true that Rush doesn't mean today what it did in '76 or even '96. It may mean more."

Kansas - Complete Albums Collection (D2c) [Import] : November 1, 2011

If my calculations are right, it's about $4.80 an album
Quote
Kansas - The Classic Albums Collection 1974-1983

Albums included:
Kansas (1974)
Song For America (1975)
Masque (1975)
Leftoverture (1976)
Point of Know Return (1977)
Two for the Show (2 CDs) (1978)
Monolith (1979)
Audio-Visions (1980)
Vinyl Confessions (1982)
Drastic Measures (1983)

The definitive box set documenting the classic recordings of Kansas, the trail-blazing American progressive rock band, the collection contains remastered CD editions of the band's ten albums released on the Kirshner and CBS Records labels between 1974 and 1983, with live and rare bonus tracks from the period. The Two for the Show live collection has been expanded to include bonus performances not included on the album's original vinyl release.

With a sound as expansive as the band's home state, Kansas scored big in the 1970s by applying an all-American heartland sensibility to the influence of such British progressive-rock bands as Yes, Genesis and King Crimson. Merging complex, classically-influenced arrangements with a boogie rock punch, Kansas built a distinctive, commanding sound that propelled the band to platinum-selling arena-filling stardom. Such timeless tunes as "Dust in the Wind," "Carry on Wayward Son" and "Point of Know Return" became radio staples and classic rock anthems emblematic of an era.

By the time Kansas released its eponymous debut album in 1974, the band had already developed a powerful live act and built a solid regional following. Their subsequent releases
Song for America and Masque expanded the group's audience, but it was 1976's multi-platinum Leftoverture that propelled Kansas into the commercial big leagues. Point of Know Return continued the band's ascent, and the 1978 live album Two for the Show captured Kansas at the peak of its performing powers. Monolith and Audio-Visions showed Kansas continuing to refine its sound, while 1982's Vinyl Confessions produced one of the band's biggest singles, "Play the Game Tonight." 1983's Drastic Measures introduced Kansas to the MTV generation via the video/radio hit "Fight Fire with Fire."

Michael Jackson - Immortal

A posthumous Michael Jackson album entitled "Immortal" is to be released in November featuring newly discovered outtakes and redesigned versions of some of his biggest hits, Epic Records said on Monday.

The album, released in conjunction with Jackson's official estate, will feature an alternative version of the Jackson 5 hit "ABC," medleys of Jackson's chart-topping singles, mashups, and a choir recorded for "They Don't Really Care About Us."

"Immortal" is the soundtrack for a new Cirque du Soleil extravaganza on Michael Jackson's music and life, "The Immortal World Tour," which had its world premiere on Sunday ahead of a 10-month tour around North America.

I'm all for releasing newly discovered music. But what I don't like are "reinterpretations" or mash-ups because that to me is just a way to pad out a disc and save other "discovered" music for additional CD's down the road, which means they get to charge you twice for what could have gone on the previous release.

Funny you post this now. Go here. Although that is is straight up song, the music soundtrack to Gears 3 is awesome and falls in line with what you posted. I'm interested to hearing the CD.

Apparently... from evidence of the Pink Floyd and Kansas postings I made earlier, the big thing this holiday season in music is entire sets from artists. Not just greatest hit packages, but entire catalogs.

Expanded projects too like the Pink Floyd immersion sets and U2's expanded projects

Rush: Sector 1, 2 & 3

John Denver - The RCA Albums Collection

Nine Simone - Complete RCA Albums Collection

Earth, Wind & Fire - Columbia Years

The Byrds - Complete Album Collection

Sam Cooke - RCA Albums Collection

ELO - Classic Albums Collection

more of a greatest hits

Sinatra - Best Of The Best Box

This is really the only way the record companies can "make" money by offering stuff that you can' download. It's kind of going back to that mentality during the 70's of offering fans something they couldn't get anywhere else, which is something that KISS did with great fanfare back in the day. All I need is John Denver rub-on tattoo's included for me to buy his Mega-Set.
