Hell man, I don't think I have listened to Dawn Patrol since the late 80's, maybe early 90's. The album itself peaked with the opener, the kick ass scorching Don't Tell Me You Love Me. Awesome song and still one of my all time favorite songs by Night Ranger. After this comes Sing Me Away, which I absolutely love, but it's not as heavy or hard as the previous song. It's more melodic than anything else when comparing the two. The rest of Dawn Patrol is pretty hit and miss and very uneven. But what's interesting about it is that even though there are a couple of filler, throw away songs here, within these songs, they have rip roaring solos by Jeff Watson and Brad Gillis that need to be heard.

One of the things that I hate is having to listen to a filler song that I don't particularly like just to get to the guitar solo. If enough time was given to coming up with a well thought out solo, then why couldn't they take the time to fix the song itself? My only guess is that they were just too close to the song itself to notice that they didn't hold up compared to the solo stuff. Although the album isn't perfect by any stretch, the album itself does hold up pretty well after all these years for sure. They at least close out the album with a solid, chugging rocker Night Ranger which is what I would have liked all of Dawn Patrol to sound like. I can actually see the rating going up a bit higher the more I listen to this. I think maybe because it's been song long since I've heard this that I have to warm up to it again.

Fave Songs: Don't Tell Me You Love Me, Sing Me Away, At Night She Sleeps, Play Rough and Night Ranger

Having just listened through Dawn Patrol for a 2nd and 3rd time, 4 Stars is as high as I will go and it's a very generous 4 Stars at that. I'm just not fond of Can't Find A Thrill, Young Girls In Love and Eddie's Comin' Out Tonight. The songs as a whole are just run of the mill. But they have awesome solos. So, it kind of balances itself out when giving it 4 Stars. But I can do without those songs for sure.

I guess I've never listened to the whole album, but the songs you talk about are tremendous. Absolutely classic rock.
