P!nk (The Truth About Love) 2012
Deluxe Edition

I've had a chance to really listen to this a handful of times without any interruptions so that I could soak it all up. But as much as I've given this a good workout and as much as I want to believe the hype that this is the best thing
P!nk has put out, it's not.
The Truth About Love is a great album, but it's not perfect, in large part because of one song that I just can't for whatever reason, get into.
The album starts off amazing and is one of the strongest collection of songs. But when it gets to the middle part of the album, namely
Here Comes The Weekend featuring
Eminem it temporarily loses its momentum. What's crazy is that I use to be a huge fan of
Em back in the day. But he really hasn't put out anything lately that would come close to his peak years. This song, for me is the weakest on the album, bar none. It's not that I hate the song, it's just not at the same level of the rest of the album. With that out of the way, onto the best stuff.....
If
P!nk wanted to write an anthem that her fans could and should sing along with, she nailed it with
Are We All We Are. With
Blow Me One Last Kiss, she continues her perfect streak with another radio friendly song that will become one of her biggest hits ever. This song is the one that seems to play over and over in my head all the time with its addictive chorus.
Try reminds me a lot of
John Waite's Missing You in it's rhythm and to some extent its melody, intentional or not, I love it.
True Love sounds like it could have been on
Missundaztood, both lyrically and sonically. Me love long time.
How Come You're Not Here has one of the coolest and most additive verses to anchor a song.
S l u t Like You reminds me of
Song 2 by
Blur. Maybe a little homage? Whatever the case, it works.
The Truth About Love should become a monster hit as it's probably my favorite track on the album. Easily.
Beam Me Up is sure to light up stadiums and arena's across the globe with
Bic Lighters. I can see this song taking center stage in the middle of the show with her and her guitar player in a spotlight. It's sure to become a fan fave for sure. It's one of mine already.
The Great Escape is another one that fits the bill here as well. For a bonus song,
My Signature Move is one of the best ever. How this ended up on the "cutting room floor" is a mystery. Thank goodness for
Deluxe Editions. Anyway, I highly recommend this as a
Buy for sure.
