just listened to Empire myself....got some great tracks on there...a few I wasn't as crazy about...but the good far outweighed the ones I found less interesting.

Queensr˙che (Operation: Mindcrime) 1988

I'm really torn between which album I think is their true masterpiece: Rage For Order or Operation: Mindcrime. Now for years it has always been Mindcrime that was their crowning achievement. But having just gotten done listening to Mindcrime today and Order yesterday, it's literally neck and neck between the both of them. I think part of the reason why I'm on the fence is that the first two Queensr˙che albums have that definitive sound that is their trademark. But on Mindcrime it's a little more "traditional". By that I mean that the album, thus the sound of the band itself is a little more accessible to the average fan. Now I don't know if this was by design to get more radio airplay or just an outgrowth of their songwriting. There are some amazing, incredible songs on Mindcrime that belong up there with the best ever.

This is without question the greatest Concept album ever made. Sorry, but Tommy and The Elder can go sit in the corner and weep and what they couldn't achieve with theirs. Right off the bat you have Revolution Calling which may be my 2nd favorite Queensr˙che song of all time. The song is addictive and an earworm. One listen and it gets stuck in your head for days....if not weeks.  I'm gonna spend the rest of the day listening to this one so that I can make a clear cut decision once and for all which is the best album. Damn it, I just remember I have Empire to listen to as well. Well, this is gonna be a bloody fight to the end for sure. Kinda like Geoff and the rest of the band.

Fave Songs: Revolution Calling, Eyes Of A Stranger, I Don't Believe In Love and Suite Sister Mary are tops in my book. But I love the entire album.

In 2012, former singer Geoff Tate made a secret movie deal with Zoetifex Studios without informing the members of Queensryche for the rights to an animated Operation:Mindcrime movie which would pay him an advance and most of the royalties associated with the movie's merchandising but significantly cut out his bandmates and former guitarist Chris DeGarmo. Tate alleged that he alone owned the rights to the story although most of the band contributed music to the concept of Mindcrime

I went digging a little bit deeper to hear the other side of the story as to why Geoff was fired and what I found (if it's true) does kind of make me side with the other guys now. Punching and spitting, regardless of who it is, is something I would never tolerate personally. But if Geoff did in fact sign a movie deal cutting out everyone from the band based on the claim that "it's his idea and he wrote it all" is straight up a douche move on his part. No one person created Operation: Mindcrime. You guys worked on this together as a band, therefore the entire band deserves to share in the spoils. You can't arbitrarily decide to restructure the music rights just because you think you should do it.

well it's another slice of the pie...if relations were failing he was just doing what Axl did with G N R which was snag the name...if he felt Mindcrime was his INTELLECTUAL property.....than the music would really only be secondary.

The story would be animated and if he wrote it....in theory he main own that part of the concept/

see what I am getting at...the "story" not the guitar riffs etc.

There would be no story if there wasn't an Operation: Mindcrime.

you know what I am saying...if he wrote 100% of the story....then in theory and possibly legally he did nothing wrong....now based on HIS own words...they are all family and have been together for 30 years....so I am not sure why it wouldn't be a group effort going for something like this...because the music would make it quite a bit better.

I wonder if the idea was an Aeon Flux type thing like a series.

Queensr˙che: Operation Livecrime (1991) VHS

Queensr˙che is such an amazing group of performers and this line up right here was the pinnacle showcasing their unbelievable musicianship as well as the powerhouse vocals of Geoff Tate. It doesn't get any better than this if you're looking for a show from start to finish. The idea behind Queensr˙che: Operation Livecrime comes from their concept album Operation: Mindcrime, which to me is the benchmark for any and all concepts albums. The concert basically plays the entire album in its entirety.

Even though this is technically a live performance concert, the visual representation of the show is more like one long-form music video with the way it's put together with the edits to incorporate the performance, the audience and the video segments projected on two huge screens behind the band, which itself is telling the story of the characters that make up Operation: Mindcrime. All in all, it's a fantastic show. Unfortunately, it's only an hour long. Had the show ran 3 hours, I still would want more. I highly recommend this as a Buy for any and all Hard Rock / Metal fans.
