.....also, the idea that Flavor Flav (Public Enemy) potentially can get in before KISS and some of the most influential bands in the history of Rock is disgusting. He's NOT even a f*cking singer....or rapper. He's just the 'Hype Man' for the band. Gawd, this is so unfair. Why the **** do I care? Because KISS should have done KISS Of Love long before his stupid ass show.

Eddie Trunk will take full credit for this.

although with that said.....I wonder if Rush or Deep Purple would have ever got in without him.

so KISS isn't in there yet???

wow that's pretty lame considering they've sold about 80 million + albums

and had a career that spans 4 decades./

Rush's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony

30 minutes of pure awesomeness! Great speech by Dave Grohl to induct the band and an amazing performance by Rush themselves. Loved the crowds enthusiasm. I can't recall a better reception for any other band in the history of the show.

I'm surprised Chip is not all over this...

Nirvana, Linda Ronstadt, LL Cool J among Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nominees

Quote
Alternative rock band Nirvana, singers Linda Ronstadt and Cat Stevens, and pop duo Hall and Oates led nominees for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's 2014 class, the foundation that runs the music museum said on Wednesday.

It will be the first year of eligibility for Nirvana, which helped usher in the grunge rock era of the early and mid-1990s characterized by its fusion of heavy metal with punk rock.

Other nominees include U.S. rock groups Kiss, alternative pioneers the Replacements and early rock guitarist Link Wray, along with British rock bands Yes, Deep Purple and the Zombies, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation said in a statement.

Stevens, a Briton, now performs under the name Yusuf Islam.

British singer-songwriter Peter Gabriel, who was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2009 as a member of the rock group Genesis, also earned a nod for his solo work.

American rapper LL Cool J and gangster rap pioneers N.W.A., which helped launch the solo careers of rapper-producer Dr. Dre and rappers Ice Cube and Easy-E, were the only hip-hop artists to garner nominations.

U.S. disco band Chic, funk band the Meters and the Paul Butterfield Blues Band also received nominations for the second consecutive year.

Candidates for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum — based in Cleveland, Ohio — must have released their debut album or single at least 25 years before 2012 to be eligible.

For the second year, the Hall of Fame will allow fans to vote on which artists and groups will be inducted at rockhall.com/vote and other websites.

Fans have until Dec. 10 to pick their favorites.

Inductees will be announced shortly after the voting closes and will also be chosen by some 600 members of the foundation, which includes past inductees.

Last year's inductees included late disco queen Donna Summer, hip-hop group Public Enemy, singer-songwriter Randy Newman and rock group Heart.

Nirvana - Do You Love Me (KISS Cover)

KISS is always a bridesmaid, but never.....

Well, you get the idea. Them being nominated or considered is a joke. I really don't understand their logic as to who deserved to be enshrined or not. Didn't they pretty much influence every band in the 80's and onward when it comes to stage theatrics? Of course they did. They even influenced bands that you wouldn't expect just by looking at the surface. Case in point (play video above).

Ronstadt should have been in already. Cat Stevens? Give me a break. He sucks. Hall & Oates based on their former glory can be argued they should be in. But what have they done lately? Nada. At least KISS is still grinding it out and packing arenas the world over. F*ck the Hall of Lame.

Okay, I've gotten so use to dismissing the Hall Of Fame that my mind immediately said that "oh, another year KISS didn't get in, f*ck the Hall!". So, digging a little further and then re-reading Mac's post again, I see that they did get in. Kinda. Rolling Stone Magazine's article says that the voting isn't over and that there is still the fan vote. So, really not sure if KISS is officially in yet as I'm getting conflicting reports. Sigh.

Really we shouldn't care either way. I know you don't. I don't. I believe Kiss doesn't care?

Like when Rush got inducted. Part of me said... cool.. finally. But in the whole context of things. It doesn't matter. Just keep playing boys.

The integrity of the Hall is a joke and has been for a long time. As you said, it's cool when a fave band gets in, but beyond that...really it doesn't change anything one bit. Will I watch their induction (if it's confirmed), of course. Really curious to see if they invite EVERYONE that is still alive. So, will we see Gene, Paul, Eric, Tommy, Peter, Ace, Bruce and Vinnie? The first four that I mentioned is a given. Peter and Ace will obviously be there, but will they wear makeup of the current line up is doing the same? That would be very strange to see two "Peter Criss' and two "Ace Frehley's" on stage. As cool as they are in makeup, I reeeeeeeeeally hope they don't accept their induction wearing makeup, just for the reason I just mentioned.

If they do wear it, it's going to automatically exclude both Peter and Ace and even Bruce would be marginalized as he never wore makeup. For the sake of simplicity....no makeup for anyone. But knowing Gene and Paul, the absolutely will be wearing it. So, what about Vinnie? Would he be invited given that he revitalized the band and gave them a lifeline in the 80's? I dunno. He's an enigma and highly unpredictable. He absolutely would try to hijack the ceremony for himself and make it all about Vinnie. So, I would say him being there is very unlikely. But then again....anything is possible.

Ya know, if Eric Carr and Mark St. John were still alive (RIP guys), the list would be even longer. One thing I don't wanna see or hear is Tommy "accepting" any kind of award. I swear, if he so much as tries to take credit for what Ace brought to the table and tries to make it appear like he (Tommy) was THE guy, I will punch him in the face the first chance I get. The only thing I will accept from him is a 'Thank You'. Everyone else has a legitimate reason for something longer in their speech.

Tommy isn't delusional enough to say anything more that he's a huge fan of the band and the fans and the legacy that Ace laid down and it's an honor to be part of the family...Gene and Paul could practically write it for him...but I don't see Tommy as a dumb guy at all.

I would prefer to see the band in NO make up....I think even back to the Tupac appearance...those outfits on old men ONLY works on stage now...take that element out of the picture it's just silly....plus this is finally the chance for the band to be taken "seriously" in their peers eyes...ie The Stones, The Who, Zeppelin etc.  I don't see the make up coming along that night.

I think whatever Peter says will be awkward and full of jealousy....it will come off as playing nice...but lets face it....he's got a good reason to be pissed even though him in the band...they aren't doing anything...he'd rather have seen it ended and just been a merch machine lining his pockets...but Gene and Paul had other plans and that was TO BE A BAND AND PLAY LIVE MUSIC.

I don't want any makeup for the very reason you said. But you know Gene and Paul, nothing is ever done the "easy way" with those guys. They for sure could decide that for them to not show up wearing makeup would be a "cop out" and trying to act like the Hall means something. They have always been "f*ck you" to critics and institutions like the Hall of Fame. So, 40 years of saying that and suddenly they aren't going to go in on their "OWN" terms, without the makeup, would make Gene's words seem weak. Just my perception of how he has always talked down to critics over the years and the Hall of Fame is a room full of critics. With that said, I prefer no makeup so that everyone, especially Bruce, Peter and Ace are on even playing field.

FYI, I would LOVE to see Gene walk up to the mic, look at the crowd and then say "F*ck you Hall of Fame"!! and then spit blood all over the critics in the front row.  ;D

Now bring on Vinnie and the Dogs!!!

ah so you think it will just be Eric and Tommy then (in make up)....there's NO ****ing way that Peter and Ace will also be wearing make up....but I don't see Tommy and Eric being left at home for Ace and Peter either.....I really just don't think that will happen....would be weird if they (Tommy and Eric) came in plain clothes and Ace and Peter came in make up.

this is not as easy to break down if you think about it./

the later I guess might be the most possible option.

I think the big question is will Bruce be there? I don't think that he will but I wish that he would be. That said I don't think that there's a snowball's chance in hell that Vinnie Vincent will be there the percent chance of that happening is 0. So my question to you is what do you think is the percent chance of Bruce being on stage. And would you say that Tommy and Eric will definitely be there?
