Song Openings
« on: January 20, 2013, 11:07:51 am »
This very niche thread is for those songs that open in a very unusual way or even a great way.

Meadows (Joe Walsh screaming)
The story behind the screaming is Joe has always been a jokester (see Joe Walsh for President). Before this song, he was asking the band members to join him some weird yelling or screaming. They apparently nodded in agreement, but wound up silent with Joe doing his solo thing.

Down On The Farm - Little Feat
When I first head this I laughed my ass off. Goofiness before a great song.

Skating Away On The Thin Ice Of The New Day - Jethro Tull
Just someone pouring themselves a drink. Yet another unusual bit before a great song.

Fire On High - ELO
By far one of my favorite ELO songs. Just some odd pre-song mix.

Beatles - I Feel Fine

One of the greatest opening notes evah!!!! It doesn't get any more iconic than naming that tune in one note

I like the idea of this thread. I will run through some songs in my head and see which one(s) fits here.

KISS - Detroit Rock City / King Of The Night Time World (Studio Version)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ODgdTqAFV0c

The first song that immediately came to mind was the original version of Detroit Rock City off the Destroyer album. Listen to the entire song because the ending ties back into the beginning. Ironically enough, the ending of Detroit Rock City actually becomes the beginning of the song that follows: King Of The Night Time World. I couldn't find a clip that was just the first two songs, so I went ahead and posted the entire album. To check out. The last track, following Do You Love Me has a crowd cheering non-stop for what seems like 10 minutes, which I loved. It's not really 10 minutes, it just feels like it is.

Unmistakeable with the first few drum beats, then the iconic note progression
