Saturday Night Fever (Motion Picture Soundtrack) 1977

Interior Gatefold

I may have been a diehard KISS fan in the middle of the phenomena called Saturday Night Fever, but even I couldn't resist the songs from The Bee Gees. They OWNED the music scene in 1977 and it wasn't just one song, or two, or three. It was five songs that seemed to be in heavy rotation on every damn radio station and I didn't have a problem with that at all. My Mom got me the soundtrack and it was just so cool holding the vinyl album and being able to open it to reveal the disco floor in all it's glory. Pretty cool to have a bunch of pictures on the side as well.

You may be wondering how I could have seen this movie at the time when I was still in elementary school? Yep, I got to see the PG version. Bah! I wanted to know what i was missing from the R-Rated version Anyway, the album is a bit uneven after you get past the first 6 songs, which I think are the best songs here. After that it's a take 'em or leave 'em affair for me. I can do without most of the instrumental songs that are heavy on the disco-ish flavor beats. I do like A Night On Disco Mountain a lot because it kinda reminds of something Bill Conti would have done if he was a part of the disco scene.

Gotta show some love for KC & the Sunshine Band and their epic song Boogie Shoes. Even if the song wasn't in the movie, it would STILL be an awesome kick ass song. This song always gets stuck in my head and makes me want to well......boogie.

Fave Songs: Stayin' Alive, How Deep Is Your Love, Night Fever, More Than A Woman, If I Can't Have You and You Should Be Dancing
