Van Halen Reportedly Set to Release First David Lee Roth Live Album

I'm definitely interested in the Live Set. It remains to be seen what the Studio Set contains. If it's just a repackage job of existing CDs already available, I'll pass. But if it's a Remaster Set, then I'd be more interested for sure.

But!!!!

Here are details just released

Van Halen will release what the band is calling its “definitive live album” on March 31 — the same date they’re scheduled to begin a six-album remaster series with reissues of ‘Van Halen‘ and ‘1984.’

Confirming days of rumors, sources at the Van Halen News Desk have shared the first official details of the live LP, titled ‘Tokyo Dome Live in Concert,’ as well as information regarding the upcoming remasters.

Recorded on June 21, 2013, during Van Halen’s stop at the Tokyo Dome on their tour behind 2012′s ‘A Different Kind of Truth,’ the 23-song set focuses on the seven albums the band recorded with frontman David Lee Roth — and according to VHND’s report, “there are absolutely no touch-ups on the lead vocals, unlike most live albums. They considered using different songs from different shows, but thought it would be better to simply release one stellar performance.”

The packaging boasts artwork by the late Ukrainian-French painter and poster artist Cassandre, as well as a lyric sheet that marks the spots where Roth went off-script during ‘China Town’ and ‘I’ll Wait.’ Plans call for ‘Tokyo Dome’ to be made available in digital, CD and vinyl formats, and as part of a deluxe box that includes the ‘Van Halen’ and ’1984′ reissues.

Those remasters, which were sourced from the original analog tapes, are the first salvos in a campaign that’s set to continue with ‘Diver Down,’ ‘Women and Children First,’ ‘Van Halen II’ and ‘Fair Warning’ in the coming weeks. Specific release dates have yet to be revealed, but the press release promises fans will see them on all of the above formats “later in spring.” Take a look at the complete ‘Tokyo Dome Live in Concert’ track listing below.

Nice find. My interest has increased for this. Remains to be seen what the sticker price is for each varying Set though. I still have all my original vinyls, so not sure if I'd update those. CDs most likely.

VAN HALEN ANNOUNCE ‘ELLEN DEGENERES SHOW’ PERFORMANCE

My, how the mighty have fallen. Never in a million years would have I ever foreseen Van Halen, once considered to 'Biggest Band on the Planet' would one day end up on a daytime talk show to promote anything. It's one thing to do Late Night Talk Shows. But Daytime? I think the performance will be good. It's just the idea of Dave making an ass out of himself that already has me dreading this. Tune in on April 2, 2015.

Van Halen Live - Tokyo Dome In Concert

You have to be a real die hard fan to overlook how bad this sounds. Extremely bass heavy, otherwise the musicianship is top notch. But the killer for this project is David Lee Roth and the lack of singing or quality singing. Michael Anthony is no longer with them and he carried a lot.

In a nutshell, I found the recording unlistenable. Live adds nothing to the songs and in fact I find these recordings sub-par. I'm just a stickler for good audio. This is not even in the ball park.

Just listen to the greatest hits... studio versions.

Just based on the Bootlegs on YouTube that I've struggled to get through (which I failed repeatedly at), I am not surprised that Tokyo Dome isn't all that good. I am however waiting to get my hands on the Studio Remasters though.

Sammy Hagar On Van Halen’s New Live Album: ‘What the (Expletive) Are These Guys Thinking?’

Sammy's opinion of the newly released Live Album Tokyo Dome leads me to believe that this is going to get ugly between both sides very fast.
