I love Guns N' Roses and Stone Temple Pilots, duh. So obviously I had huge expectations for the latest "Supergroup" with the formation of Velvet Revolver and was very encourage by their first single Slither. It was a no brainer that I would pick up the album.

After listening to it just a couple of times through, I was somewhat underwhelmed by the album as a whole. There were a lot of good songs, but they weren't great. Out of the entire album there were maybe 3 or 4 songs total that just blew me away, while the rest served their purpose. That was back in 2004. So, how does it translate today in 2012? For me, it's better than I originally gave it credit for, but it still doesn't quite get where I want it to be.

The same songs that I loved are still the only ones that I can listen to on a loop. I will say that I haven't listened to Contraband much over the years. I still need to really give the album a serious workout and see if those good songs will ever elevate themselves to being classics.
