I'm seeing more and more these days. Not sure why the sudden uptick of poor producing these days.
I 'hear' this time and time again. I come to realize how important the producer's job is. He is outside of the band, but in the band to know good sound, good mix, good writing, instrumentation, etc. I speak of a "Good" producer.
I just imagine a bad producer is at the wheel on these bad sounding recordings. It maybe Lita Ford herself making the judgement calls. Dunno.
But like I said, I'm use to very well produced projects. That's what I like. The old garage band, dirty, slightly messy sound was the 80's. I don't like that. Some people do. Hell, some people love vinyl and the click and pops. That's reminiscing. That's not for me.
I think I mentioned watching P!nk, how bad the sound was. It was in a indoor arena, thus mudding up the sound. And on the flip side, I watch Muse Live at Rome and completely blown away at the clarity of the sound.
I loves me Black Sabbath and Blue Oyster Cult.... because their sound recordings are clean. Live they may suck, because they think volume is killer. Yea, right.
