Road to Forever - Don Felder

I'm a pretty big fan of the Eagles in all their incarnations of early country through their west coast sound. Don Felder made many great contributions with the band over those years. Then Henley and Frey for a variety of reasons kicked his ass out of the group. By the way check out his bio with the eagles in Heaven and Hell: My Life in the Eagles (1974 - 2001).

That being said, I was not sure what he was going to bring to the table. I've been hearing about this release for a while and well, here it is. Disappointing is the first thing that comes to mind. There was magic when he was part of the Eagles. Maybe he added the right elements, but singing was not one of them. Maybe he was doing the backups? Seriously, this album had such good potential, but the singing is 2nd rate. So much, I can't listen to it if the music was good... which was not bad, but not great. I predict this will be in the bargain bin very quickly.

Yea, I would say my hopes were pretty high. They were very high for Joe Walsh's latest, but that sucked **** too. You know what I think would have worked very well for Felder is guest artists. Since the boy can't sing, bring in the talent. You take care of the music and put 2 + 2 together = Magic. Santana and host of other artists have conceptualized that, maybe he could too.

Since there really is not a good track off the album, let's go back in time to Felder's solo work for the movie sountdtrack of Heavy Metal
