Losing Sleep - Parachute

Both Parachute's albums were available in the library and thought let's give it a shot. Hoping for another diamond in the rough.

Alsa, not so much. Even less ambitious.

Where the dahell have I been not to hear about her until recently?

Sunken Condos - Donald Fagen (Steely Dan)

Sunken Condos is a fine album. It moves, progressive jazz has some great blues. It's the fourth solo album for Mr. Fagen. It never deviates from what Donald Fagen/Steely Dan have produced in the past. That's the love/hate I feel for this album. I don't hate it, but I'm in the mode of finding new refreshing material. This is not. It's new material, but sounds exactly like past material. I know for a lot of folks, that is perfect. Something else to slip into the player. I found nothing spectacular or hit worthy.

If you're a fan, you're probably gonna love this.

#3 - The Script

As I mentioned a little time back, newly discovered... for me, I found The Script rather refreshing. With their brand new release, I guess I'm still enjoying the new sound. #3 is way more hip-hop driven this time. Almost every song incorporates some kind of rap.

But here's the deal... I kind of like it. This is a rather unique blend of singing and rapping. Maybe its the vocals... maybe it's the tune. Nonetheless, I could actually sit and listen through the whole thing and enjoy it. Yay.

I only found a couple of songs I wanted to keep... Good Ol' Days and Give the Love Around

The vocals definitely adds that element of "rap" if you will. Not a straight up rap, but it does incorporate staccato pacing that is inherent with most rap and hip hop songs. I dig the song.

Would you object if I move your No Doubt review over to their Discography thread?

Time Warp: The Very Best of - Ozark Mountain Daredevils

Even a supposed greatest hits for one of my long time fav groups doesn't deserve 5 stars. There's a few here that are head scratchers. Maybe hey were hits elsewhere, but it's hard to imagine them being bigger than around these parts.

Anyway, the sound is excellent and it brings back a lot of great memories.

Grrrr - Rolling Stones

Duh, it's a greatest hits... with a couple of new tunes.... whatevah!!! They are decent.

Music from another Dimension - Aerosmith

I'm not a fan by any means, but I really enjoy several of their hits. So either I'm lovin' it or forgetting it. Dimension I will be quickly forgetting.

MTV Unplugged - Florence + The Machine

Typically I love unplugged sets, but that has been more towards hair bands reinventing their music. Florence + The Machine are definitely eclectic and not sure unplugged brings anything new to me. Then again, I don't know much of their stuff outside the hits. This was OK, but it was probably more entertaining to watch.

Road to Forever - Don Felder

I'm a pretty big fan of the Eagles in all their incarnations of early country through their west coast sound. Don Felder made many great contributions with the band over those years. Then Henley and Frey for a variety of reasons kicked his ass out of the group. By the way check out his bio with the eagles in Heaven and Hell: My Life in the Eagles (1974 - 2001).

That being said, I was not sure what he was going to bring to the table. I've been hearing about this release for a while and well, here it is. Disappointing is the first thing that comes to mind. There was magic when he was part of the Eagles. Maybe he added the right elements, but singing was not one of them. Maybe he was doing the backups? Seriously, this album had such good potential, but the singing is 2nd rate. So much, I can't listen to it if the music was good... which was not bad, but not great. I predict this will be in the bargain bin very quickly.

Yea, I would say my hopes were pretty high. They were very high for Joe Walsh's latest, but that sucked **** too. You know what I think would have worked very well for Felder is guest artists. Since the boy can't sing, bring in the talent. You take care of the music and put 2 + 2 together = Magic. Santana and host of other artists have conceptualized that, maybe he could too.

Since there really is not a good track off the album, let's go back in time to Felder's solo work for the movie sountdtrack of Heavy Metal

I've been listening to a lot of this German Euro Metal band called "Scooter."  Watching their playlist on Youtube was like going back in time because it started in the present and went way back to the late 90s.  And they were VERY late 90s.

Might lose a bit of cool cred for this one but this has been in my head for days.
