The Cars - Move Like This

I'm torn. As others have said, it's like there was no time lost between now (2011) and their last time together 23 years ago. The sound exactly the same. The problem seems to be the songs for the most part sound alike. With that distinctive Guitar rhythm, drum beat and vocals, I couldn't tell a whole lot of difference between them.

Slick production. Sounds fantastic. So yea, I'll listen to it on occasion... just not something I'll be picking up.

Their first single from Move Like This...

Looks like Storm Thorgerson had influence on the visual style of the video... I'm guessing

I've only heard a few songs from their new album. But what I have heard I like a lot.

Tesla - Twisted Wires & the acoustic sessions

This is an all acoustic album spanning in review their 25 year history. I'll admit I'm not a huge fan of Tesla. I've come to love their bigger hits though and I bow down to them for starting the unplugged sessions and opening the flood gates to other bands following that formula. Some songs just sound so cool acoustically.

The recording is crystal clear. Beyond that, this album is OK. If your fan, I'm sure this is perfect. I just didn't find enough in it to bring me back to it.

Lindsey Buckingham - Seeds We Sow

LB is a brilliant complicated man. I don't know what's going on with his solo efforts. When he's in the company others like Fleetwood Mac, magic happens. When he strikes out on his own and does his own thing, I don't get it. I hear little nuggets of what could be gold, but as songs go, there is unevenness and chaotic melody. Not one song on here appears to me to be radio worthy. I'm not sure I'd ever listen to this again. A couple of times I had to do a double take at the CD player and remember who's CD was playing. A couple of songs just sound bad. Like the recording was bad and the timing was bad. Then the next song would be a nice harmonious written and recorded piece.

I praise him for being guitar work and being under-appreciated with skills and talent, but another solo project that just doesn't do it for me.

Theory of a Deadman- The Truth Is...

I don't recall why I even ordered this song, but, I did. I'm glad I did. The kick off song Lowlife really caught my attention. Just solid rock with great vocals. For a power house sounding group with heady guitars, gravely voice and heavy drums, this is refreshingly clear. I love it. The 2nd song The **** Came Back sets the tone for the basic premise of the entire album. Just under the surface kinds of thoughts that I think we can at least relate to in one sense or another. Ok enough with the mental stuff.

It's great rock and I'll be checking out more of these guys.

Lydia-paint it golden

This is some of the best Alt/Indie Music to come around and if you like this genre I can recommend this and there other releases as well.

Tony Bennett – Duets

Due to recent Tony Bennett project of Duets II, I would give Tony Bennett and Duets a try. Besides ‘I left my heart in San Francisco’, I got nothing. I know he has a fine voice, just was not sure I’d like his songs.  This was a project of singing the classics with some very established artists like Elton John, Sting, Barbara Streisand, etc. Well… they are OK. I do love the Rat Pack and thought I might love this undiscovered treasure. It did little for me. I think in part I was put off especially on the Duets where to males were singing and the song clearly required male and female singing. Those songs just seem weird.

Over all, I thought many of the guest singers had better voices. I'm sure fans of Bennett or the classics or the guest singers will love it and may actually gain new fans.

Bottom line, this wasn’t for me. I’m kinda hesitant to listen to the new project Duets II with the younger popular singers.

If they have this down the street where I get my CD's, I will definitely check this out. Sucks that it didn't get a better review. I had high hopes for this, even though this is outside my music genre of choice.

Ozzy Osbourne - Fire In The Sky

I'm actually playing random songs throughout Ozzy's entire catalog as I work on putting together the Ozzy Osbourne - Discography thread. Currently I have Fire In The Sky set on loop, for obvious reasons....it rocks!! Am I lying? I think not.

So really liking Theory of Deadman's The Truth Is..., I'd give their earlier projects a listen too.

I first listened to Scars and Souvenirs (2008) and liked Bad Girlfriend right off because of it's solid balls to the walls sound. Just simple rock. I did start to recognize a couple of things. Theory of Deadman pretty much write the same thing over and over. Bad situations with life and women and fairly pessimistic.

Then I cranked up Gasoline (2005)

This is all starting to sound the same. In my mind, listening to any one song would sound like it came off of any album... take your pick. I did like Santa Monica, but not enough. Just a few songs of their fill my quotient for their music.

Not hating, in fact, still recommending. But like AC/DC or George Thorogood, a few songs at a time are enough for me. Too much of it will just begin to **** me off.

Listening to their debut as I drop buckets of black ink onto Batman and some gnarly branches.

Man, I have not been keeping this up. I’ve been listening to a boatload of stuff. Mostly older stuff

RUSH - Retrospective I, II, III

Pink Floyd – All of the albums all the way through (except for the first 3 early albums)

Ian Anderson (Jethro Tull) - Rupi’s Dance

Michael Buble – Christmas (Not listened to it yet, but recorded it and listen after Thanksgiving)

Florence + The Machine - Lungs
